Discussion of the Transcriptions of the Testimony of Jodi Arias

ITA with all of you scratching your heads over the “secret” nature of this testimony.

Love the fact she narcs on her parents, but fails to mention her own Tupperware pot farm.

The thing that strikes me (and I hope it strikes jurors, too) is: WHY did people physically lash out at her (assuming one iota of that is true). I can almost hear her saying, “I soothingly, calmly, and in a Christ-like manner tried to diffuse their irrational anger; but, nay. I was beaten and choked for no reason.”

The only glimmer of interest was learning she took martial arts and had a sword. Plus, I LOVE how she mentioned she took her cat when she left home to live with BJ. Now, why didn’t you take Doggie Boy? Oh. Right.

All of the defense witnesses ultimately will do a great job for the State—if JM ever gets to cross examine them.

And consider... ONE.AFTER.THE.OTHER with Juan :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

The transcripts were posted in text form for the benefit of those that could not open PDF files. I have since deleted them so as to not mislead anyone. Thanks.
No Wonder, I was in the middle of reading the second one when my laptop froze up. When I went back to search for the posts I couldn't find them, so I ended up downloading them from abc15.

I tried to read Part 2, but the interminable testimony about the MGM Grand weekend was too much tonight. Would someone kindly give me/us a general idea of the time period JA was describing when she was forced to stop talking? For instance, had JA moved to Mesa? TIA

OK, there are several ways this can go.

A. Jodi gets back on the stand and continues her testimony, including cross.

B. Jodi refuses to continue her testimony.

1. JSS could have JM cross-examine her (because she's waived her right to remain silent as to the issues on which she's already testified) and tell the jury that if she refuses to respond they may assume she agrees with what JM says. IMO this will not happen because no one has the cojones to suggest it lol.

2. JM could agree to let her testimony stand and "cross-examine" through video snippets from JA's prior testimony. This is possible.

3. JM could agree to let her testimony stand and just comment in closing on whatever she said--e.g., her testimony was inconsistent, no real expression of remorse, no serious mitigation, etc. This is possible.

4. JSS could agree to treat the testimony as allocution and re-instruct the jury that they are permitted to consider that it was not given subject to cross-examination. This is possible.

5. JM could ask for the testimony to be stricken from the record, and indeed, in one of the sidebars released today, that's what he said would have to be done. IMO this is the most likely result if JA refuses to continue, but is a poor strategic choice on the part of JM as he then can't comment on the testimony in closing.

Sorry to keep bugging you AZL ... So, if JA refuses to testify, it is then up to either JSS or JM re: how to treat the testimony? LKN has no say?

It funny how she has no normal emotions, yet she loves to overdramatize everything. (Compensation maybe?) She adds flowery adjectives all over the place, writing and talking as though she's doing homework for a HS poetry class. I always loved her description of how the picture of the kid in his undies wafted through the air. She could add "Ode to the Floating Kiddie 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Picture" to her next book of poetry.

She seems to like the word "chaotic"...among other flowery descriptive words. Her speech is so unnatural during testimony and then every so often she goes into slang which is so polar opposite than the person she is trying to portray. It's weird, and so fake sounding.

MOO

I think she was just past her third sexual encounter with TA in a motel, very shortly after they had met when testimony was halted. So she had not even gotten to Valentine's Day and the spiderman underwear. LOL

I love option 2. I don't like the "strike the testimony" with no rebuttal allowed later on.

Wow. Thanks so much for saving me from that.

I wonder why Nurmi is not asking the questions this time around. He's already gone through the material, questions during the first trial. He and JA must really not like each other right now.

JW sure picked up his 'feeeling' though, she must have asked JA 'how did that make you feel' about a thousand times in a day and a half (or less) of testimony.

Sorry, this has no doubt already been A'd & A'd. Has there been any hint of a transcript showing that in high school Jodi got "A's and B's, mostly" and that she was taking an AP class her junior year? Surely she wouldn't lie about something that could be so easily disproven... but then again: Jodi.

edit to add: Or maybe a record of the 911 call when Bobbie was trying to break her arm after he (like all the men in her life) choked her? Aren't there records of 911 calls?

I bet when Jodi does finally die, it will be from autoerotic asphyxiation. Just a hunch.

Let's be honest for people just joining after work.. There is NO Spoiler. There is NO BREAKING NEWS. It Is same old same old To suggest a "spoiler" for people catching up is just wrong and a waste of their time and dishonest. IMO of course
Sounds like you had a long day at work. Whew. Nobody is being dishonest here, they were trying to help. Feel free to look up the PDF's on your own to read. Some members aren't able to view PDF's, so hindsight was nice enough to post them. The only way to do that is to put them in a "spoiler" alert. There is some "breaking news" in them. Nothing monumental, but some that we haven't heard before.

I mentioned earlier in this or the other thread that at one point she had three of those questions in a row. Had to make papa bear proud.

We'll find out during Juan's cross.

Oh wait....

So, Jodi is telling her story about the frist time at the Hugues and that things went to far. I'm sorry but Jodi let it happen, she could of stopped it, but she didn't. Don't blame Travis. He was a healthy young man and they like to see how far the can go, and Travis found out she wouldn't say no or stop. But of course that will be his fault.

I've tried to figure out what JSS meant when she said releasing the transcript would do harm. Based on what I've heard in it, I think JSS may feel so sad for JA's parents and knowing these stupid lies are being spread about them-- drugs, abuse, etc. She knows they're likely not true and the damage reference may be damage to the family individuals.

I dunno-- probably the last time I'll have any sympathy for the Arias family. They're climbing the ladder to the Anthony ranks in disgust.

You'd think JA would have learned from her first 18 day BS session that mentioning that it was hard to live in your parents house "under their rules" makes her sound like a spoiled, whiney, entitled, brat. Then again narcissism does tend to get in the way of objective reflection.
BBM: This is where JA messed up and tried to stop herself but it was out. At the beginning of her testimony, she states that she left because of abuse and she was done. Something like that. Then, she states that it was because she didn't want to live "under their rules." As soon as she said it, her previous testimony is worthless. She left because she didn't want to follow the rules. She dropped out of school for a guy. Nothing her parents could say or do would have stopped her. They could no longer "parent" her. She was an out of control teenager who didn't want to follow the rules and moved out in the middle of the night. JA was not abused. If she had been, she would have been able to give numerous accounts of graphic testimony, which she doesn't, because it wasn't abuse. If it immediately stood out to me, it did to the jury as well. What I think she *meant* was that if she released it and then the higher Court said she shouldn't, the damage (if any) would have already been done by releasing it. Given what we heard it seems there was no real damage to be done, but of course the DT would have gone back to them screaming that her error had destroyed the case.

The only surprise to me was that she released the sidebars as well. Given that all the rest of those have been put on ice, I never expected to see those released yet. So in the end JSS actually released more than we expected.

I had a different interpretation. I thought she meant if the Supreme Court agrees with Nurmi and says that KN is right and JA is allowed to testify in secret because of the media, then JSS making the testimony public shouldn't have happened and if it did she wouldn't be able to take it back.

I don't think she was actually concerned about what JA said about her parents.
