I've seen reporters on the other side of this who are just as vehement in their own opinions, I also thought his article about Juror 17 made a lot of sense .. I get that you don't like him, and that's perfectly fine, but MK is no idiot IMO, and I think some of the reaction to him goes a bit far (not you) xoxo

My reaction is 100% personal and based primarily on my own personal dealings with him in the courtroom and beyond. And you know I luvs ya Mrs G. xo

Kiefer is also quite tight with Wilmott. My first day in the courtroom he sat directly behind me talking to another reporter (male) saying "isn't she cute?". Blech.

Luvs ya too .. there's plenty of people connected to this case that I'd happily impale on a stake, and I know you probably don't have that same feeling when it comes to them .. funny how some folks just have that effect :D

Please remember we do not make comments about people's appearance or weight on Websleuths. No matter who their relatives happen to be.

THANK YOU, Tricia! While I am no fan of the convicted felon or her family, I refuse to engage in such commentary about them. Approximately two years ago I was photographed standing next to someone who was the subject of a criminal investigation. I had no relation to the subject of the photograph other than we were employed by the same agency. There were dozens of people in the photograph. It was published in the newspaper AND the online version. There were hundreds of comments about the picture. At some point someone mentioned the size of my calves, which were photographed at an odd angle. Within hours people were posting that if they had my calves they would kill themselves. Seriously. It was a prime example of the worst of humanity and gang mentality. I know the posters of Webseluths are better than that.

His description of CMJA on his website says "celebrity killer Jodi Arias". Reading that made me want to vomit. Disgusting.

I like Michael Kiefer's Tweets.

Thank you so much for your info, GCharlie. It's all so helpful and insightful.

Do you have a citation for the letter to Lisa? Who is this Lisa, exactly?

Maybe paper was sneaked into Estrella in magazines? Legal documents?

With respect to your earlier comments regarding what might go down in Perryville and the restrictions in place there to prevent criminals like JA from communicating with the outside the way she can at Estrella...... IIRC at Perryville, first there will be no visits, then Jodi would be allowed non-contact visits from people on her visitors list, and later still contact visits. Visitors (phone and in person) would have to pass criminal background checks at their expense. Only 20 are allowed on the list. They are subject to search, including by K-9's (this search sounds like a TSA search) and a dress code. I'm guessing the legal team means a legitimate team of legal personnel, and not just friends of Jodi's who happen to be attorneys. IIRC, the inmate gets strip-searched before and after visits: no more writing messages on an arm. There is no computer access of any kind for inmates; no video visits.

Art supplies are restricted at Perryville, and must be earned by consistent good behavior. Even then, inmates are not allowed to keep very much of a supply. Some types of art supplies require long-term demonstration of good behavior. It seems to me very likely that other inmates will target Jodi's art supplies as a way of getting to her.

Parts of the letter have been redacted:

The thing is, he won't care. His idea of proof of a good journalist is the ability to get people riled.

In fact, it is getting them thinking and/or discussing that shows a good journalist. Not riling or inciting riots, verbal or the other kind.

The sad part is I don't think he's stupid. I think he knows the score, but gets a kick out of causing trouble. I think he does his thing then sits back and watches the fallout and chuckles.

Really creepy individual, IMO.

I agree. I'm not a fan of his type of journalism but I have to give him big props. A teacher once told me that all an ad had to do was get your attention. To me this is the same. He, as a writer, needs to grab your attention. I think it's in his personality to enjoy it all. That he's become the defense darling isn't wrong, we just don't like it. That's on us.
I don't think he's doing anything less or more than going with what's given to him... that's kinda his job. He and I would never be BFFs in reality land but I can't take it away from him. He's a reporter, he's reporting. It's in the job description.

:drumroll::drumroll::drumroll: 3 weeks until 4-13-15 Sentencing !

  But ... considering how sneaky JA and the DT is, and how JSS's court rolls, no telling what will happen :gaah:

:seeya: And Good Morning, Y'all !

IMO Juror 17 needs to just sit down and be quiet. The verdict has been rendered. CMJA needs to be sentenced and just go away. The media perpetuating and giving voice to Juror 17 also needs to stop. It may be great theater, however the story has gotten old. IMO

If she tries suing the other jurors for some reason, they'll counter sue. J17's husband is the one that outed her. And they were already out pursuing media interviews and book deal(s) on about Day 1. It's the other jurors who really have a case for privacy issues.

He is a vehement anti DP reporter who should not report on DP cases because he's lost his ability to be factual. He was fabricating outright lies in his reporting. How do I know? I was right there. Witnessing it myself-I would swear on a Bible in court every single thing I've ever said publicly about him (and there is more, trust me but I'm not ratting out any other respected journalists who vented to me the exact same things about him). Remember I was in court there almost every day of the trial and talked to him ALOT.

What KCL has written about MK is spot on, her information regarding his practices and agenda are accurate. At the heart of what KCL (please correct me if I am wrong KCL) is saying is that MK, in fact, is claiming to be a JOURNALIST when he is not (and to add insult to injury he writes for the most widely read newspaper in the state of AZ: The Arizona Republic); nowhere under his name does it list that he is a Commentary Journalist, Opinion Journalist, or Advocacy Journalist. And while being completely objective is a lofty goal and is a hard thing to achieve for any journalist/reporter, what matters is that the reporter strives/aspires to realize this goal. Not the exact opposite, like MK, of getting as much of your personal opinion and agenda into what is reported while trying to hide your lack of objectivity.

There are four main types of news reporters/writers today; Journalists, Commentary Journalists, Opinion Journalists and Advocacy Journalists. All of which are fine as long as they are clearly identified and defined as to what they actually are. In fact, there are plenty of commentary journalists out there, many of whom I disagree with but respect simply because they are up front and honest about the fact that they are COMMENTARY JOURNALISTS or the like.. Commentary, Opinion and Advocacy Journalism (btw-AJ is especially known for inaccuracies and outright untruths)should NEVER be presented as objective/credible/neutral news reporting (i.e., Journalism in it's true form).

Journalism is about Credibility, Objectivity and Neutrality--the factual information is imparted and the viewer is left to determine what the information means to them without IMPROPER INFLUENCE. It is, nothing more or nothing less than insulting to tell someone how they should think, feel, or respond to news information--and for these opinion/commentary/advocacy journalists to use powerful platforms, under the guise of Journalism, to spew and propagate their worldviews/personal agendas borders on being a propagandist in my view..

So the core concern/issue related to MK's articles as I see it, is simple, he is not a Journalist. It is not about how he looks, whether or not you like his writing style, or even about the content of the topics he writes about...it is about whether he is being factual, providing ALL of the known facts, and whether or not he projects his own opinions/biases into what he writes.

FWIW, by definition, his J17 piece was a perfect example of Opinion Journalism and Advocacy Journalism combined, disingenuously masquerading as Journalism.

Elizabeth Schilling is her name, but she goes by "Lisa." She was also the girl that JA and Cha Cha had their 3 way phone call with. Her and Jason Weber are on the other team Jodi

DMacky, this letter was not written to Elizabeth Schilling. Lisa is someone entirely different.

I am so glad that you can state (once again) 'THE TRUTH' about this repulsive journalist(?). He makes me even sicker this time around. He is so obviously jealous of Juan M. that perhaps he really wanted to be an attorney but lacked the smarts. That would account for all his venom against Juan M.

I served my jury duty this past January. Here we're called for a month. I was called for two cases. The first was cancelled the night before because of a plea deal. The second case I was one of 24 (I believe) chosen. Because of personal reasons shared in a private meeting with attorney's from both sides and the defendant, I was stricken. I was so pleased that I didn't register which side or if both sides struck me. I just knew the best choice was made because I was HONEST. I only wish jurer 17 had been as honest as I was. I was asked in the meeting if I could set aside my doubts about my ability to be impartial and I said I could. Still I was glad not to have to serve on that particular case. We don't have the death penalty here in WI. If we did have the option of death and I was asked to sit on the arias jury, I would have been able to serve and render a true verdict. Our jury duty gives a 4 year break between jury duty so I won't be called to do this civic duty until that time passes.

Thank you so much Kathy for all you're doing for victim and victim family rights.

Okay, thank you! I'll go back and delete that image if I can because it's so laaaaarrrge. :/ Sometimes, it's hard for me to figure out what's going on with the court docs, some of the case documents have been updated, others not. Here's the bottom part of that page that has current info that another document doesn't have. ARgh.View attachment 71531

I don't understand why there are status conferences & oral arguments slated for AFTER the sentencing? What's that about?

The same person who told him who the foreperson was in the first trial WHILE THEY WERE STILL DELIBERATING. He was so cocky and certain that hung jury was coming in that day (which he also erroneously reported, then redacted--so easy for him to on an online article) that I think he lost control. by the way, they didn't hang until the following day--the day AFTER he reported (in an online article we all saw) the correct identity of that foreperson..the one who hung THAT jury.

I keep asking this HOW DID MICHAEl KIEFER KNOW THE IDENTITY OF WHO THE FOREPERSON WAS DURING JURY DELIBERATIONS IN THE FIRST TRIAL?

I say the same leak leaked again.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the only person who had knowledge of who the foreperson was be someone who had access to the jury room?
