Do-Si-Don'ts? Girl Scout Cookie Fans Taste A Difference

  • #21
I missed the deluge this year, LinasK! :( Lemon Chalet Creams sound like something they've done before. I love lemon though, so I'll have to give them a try. Thanks!

TM, the Shortbreads I believe you are right. I just thought it was me the last couple of years. Dang, and I didn't give it too much thought. If they dare removed the trans fats I'll about have a fit. We had that law passed here. No trans fats. You wanna taste a french fry without trans fats? Heck no. Very interesting story. Danka, TM! Can I say my Brownie pledge now?

FYI the Girl Scouts have requested that the bakers remove all trans-fats from their cookies, so no GS cookies have any trans-fats in them.

They also have Lemonades, which are shortbread cookies with a lemon cream coating on one side. Very good!

The guilt. Right? I used to too Linda, but now as they approach I say "Scram". Naw, but they cost for some cookies. I could go to the bakery or buy a Tastykake. Now I'm gonna have a Girl Scout curse on me.

You really say "scram" to them like that? Kind of ignorant, IMHO. They're out there fund raising for their troops and their councils. They don't deserve a rude send-off like that.

Scouting gives girls something to do after school and keeps them off the streets and out of trouble. It provides girls with opportunities to better themselves, self-confidence, socialization, and to learn new skills. I think spending $3 to $4 for a box of cookies that supports the troop and the cause is completely worth it.

I'm so supportive of the cause that I joined Girl Scouts as an adult member along with my daughter and am training to become a leader.

The Peanut Butter Patties (Tagalongs) have had quite a bit of complaints in our council as well. Some have described them as "waxy" and having a different taste. I don't think our council will be purchasing cookies from ABC Bakers next year because of this.

dee, Filly did say "naw" after "scram". LOL I can't see Filly being mean to anyone except perverts. Least I hope not!

I would like to taste a spoonful of these transfats because I sure do think they make things taste good!

Good for you! I have a daughter who is a brownie this year and I really admire her leaders patience with all of the girls. We just got finished selling cookies and we found that they pretty much sold themselves. People were coming us to buy. I do think the peanut butter patties tasted a bit different this year but I still ate way too many of them.
