Do you like the new format for WS?

It seems the #1 'dislike' is the bright white background, followed by #2 the big blocks at the top of the page, which are then also appearing on every page. And #3 most mentioned dislike are the various things underlined.

Fix those 3 things from a cosmetic standpoint and I think you'll have assuaged 97+% of the cosmetic issues.

I also greatly dislike rotating carousels on web pages (all web sites, not just those on WS), but no one else mentioned it.

I don't mind change. I will get used to it and the font is bigger and easier to read. Now, I can change my zoom back to normal. lol
All in all, the site looks nice and clean. I love the white background.

I was on the site yesterday to check new posts in the morning like I always do. When I returned later in the day, I was immediately impressed with the brightness of the new screen Much easier to read. :tyou:

See top, Forum Actions; in dropdown click General Settings; at bottom of page, find Game Room in the list of Forums to Exclude from View, highlight, and save change(s).

THANKS for removing the scroll across the top. I like the visual better. It is less distracting and doesn't create a loading issue for when my internet service is sllloooooowwww. Appreciate the hard work that it takes to do a site.

Learning about the "Quick Links" button (I have been on the forum for years and mainly use the "new posts" tab and the "settings" tab to get to threads. This is revolutionary!!)

Dislikes
The bright white (Killing me! Maybe because it's now against the "cleaner" post boxes, I don't know, but please do something to fix it. And, yes, I have turned down the brightness on my screen.)
The underlining of everything
The "amber alert" scroll gets overlapped on my phone
The use of the word "hot"
The "Top Stories, WS News, Trials" section at the top on EVERY page (I like the idea of seeing it every time I log in, or maybe having a "top stories" page, but the extra scrolling on every page is a nuisance.)

That's it in a nutshell. Overall, I like it but fixing some of my "dislikes" would make it a better experience. I spend a lot of time on WS and really appreciate ALL that goes into making the site run smoothly. From the mods, to the tech guy, to all of the members...you all make my day...everyday.

Thanks for your list. I agree with most of it. I hated the side ads too, but they gave me room to spread out the page on my iPad to enlarge the print. I guess the trade off is worth it to most, but I still need bigger print. I'm not sure how that can happen though.
Unfortunately, the print size problem makes the other improvements moot for me. But I do appreciate all the effort that went into the new look and I'm glad it's a better experience for most.

Figured it out. For anyone else, bottom left of screen; under the thread tags; shaded area there's a drop down arrow that says WS2015. Its a "quick style chooser" that goes from standard to mobile

I have been using New Posts and just today learned about the links in Quick Links.

You will notice some changes as we work to try and figure out some issues with iPad users. Things will be changing then changing back.

Sorry for any problems this may cause but please know Dave is working very hard to have everything running smoothly for everyone.

We will remove the "Hot" soon and will revisit the Amber Alert scroll but first, we have to figure out a couple of other issues.

I have been using New Posts and just today learned about the links in Quick Links.

It most likely depends on what you use the Quick Links for. I use it to find my "subscribed threads", so that is the only one I miss. But it also has a drop-down menu with other choices: Today's Posts, Subscribed Threads, Contacts Pop-up, Site Leaders, Who's Online

Thanks! I think you mean "Increase Contrast" not "content" although I'm sure Tricia would love to increase both the con'tent of WS and content'-ment of the members. After doing this through settings, I noticed that my brightness had been reduced on the control panel accessible at the bottom of the page, so I think this is just a roundabout way of darkening the background. Combined with the print that can't be enlarged, it hasn't helped me much. If anything, it's harder to read. But maybe it will help others. Again, thanks.
