A bone here, a bone there, and a couple of shoe laces.

LE wouldn't just assume those were Dylan's shoe laces. How would they confirm and say so for sure? There's a reason why they're sure. Either they were pink squiggly ones like mine that are easily identifiable, or they were attached to one of the bones found (or something along those lines).

LE's last press release.........
An updated timeline for Dylan’s activities on Sunday November 18th has been released:

5:46PM Dylan arrived at Durango-La Plata airport.
7:05 PM Dylan at Durango Walmart
7:22 PM Dylan at Durango McDonalds
9:37PM Dylan’s last electronic device communication (texting)

The last person identified as having seen Dylan is his father, Mark Redwine.
Mr Redwine told investigators he saw Dylan at his Vallecito home early Monday morning, November 19th.
...........................................................................................................

Officially, this is all we have.
I only put up the transcript from MR and Tricia because that is the only mention I have ever seen of the possibility for pinging beyond the 9:37 pm activity. Take it for what it's worth, and consider the source (MR).
Sorry, if I caused some confusion. Thanks

So he did communicate with someone after he texted with his buddy back and forth. Interesting.

That just made me think ....... what if Dylan did actually get up to go with MR that morning - something could have happened before he used his phone. He was on track with his plans, so no need to be texting anyone, either at home, or along the route. I guess the battery could have died the night before, or he just fell asleep. If Dylan was taking all his stuff to his friends, then if something happened along the route, the backpack could be anywhere.

If we go along with the theories MR has, that Dylan went out that morning to kill a bit of time and got abducted, or someone came to the house and took him .... then the backpack should be in the house. There would be no need to hide it.

So, the only logical reason for the backpack not being at the house, are that something happened on the way back from the airport and Dylan never made it to the house ........... even though LE says that he did (are they trying to lull MR into a false sense of security to think they believe him?). Or Dylan took all his stuff with him Monday morning and whoever "took" him, dumped it somewhere else.

My opinion is that finding the backpack might unlock the answers - it would prove if Dylan ever opened it after ER packed it for a start.

All MOO

All MOO.

I think another logical option is that the dad, in haste to make it seem like Dylan took off on a long hike/fishing excursion or ran away, made sure his belongings went to.

IMO, what happened was not planned and the aftermath was not well thought out. I imagine a scenario in which a deep, simmering rage began since the September hearing and the judge's final decision, grew and festered with Dylan's subsequent lack of communication, climbed to a slow boil when the plane was delayed, and when faced with a sullen teen son who was clearly more interested in friends than dad, and was likely exacerbated by a swig it two of something strong along the way.

I think all of this could have culminated in a fiery confrontation in the living room and ended with a sudden and unintentionally fatal lashing out.

In the aftermath, I imagine a somewhat stunned but still angry dad standing there, running his fingers through his hair, lighting a smoke, and muttering a few more expletives at his now still son. I imagine him muttering, "serves you right...attitude...just like your mom." Then, "Oh come on. I didn't hit you that hard. Knock off the drama.". A few more puffs off the cigarette, pacing, staring. Then, as the rage turns to realization, that hour he earlier described trying to wake his motionless son.

After that, he would have to plan and quick. Whatever dumping likely occurred that night. He decided to make it seem that Dylan collected his things, a pole to catch fish, which is what kids in books like Tom Sawyer would do, and ran away. Later, when authorities ruled out a runaway scenario, it became a hike/fishing trek story. But now, the backpack and ALL of Dylans belongings being gone make less sense.

Actually, it doesn't have a built in GPS chip, but it can be used for maps/navigation etc with the right app. However, since it is only WiFi, you have to be connected to a hot spot for it to work. I don't think there would be any hotspots in that area of Middle Mountain Road, so no... it would likely not be of use at all.

http://gps.about.com/od/mobilephonegps/a/iPod-Touch-GPS.htm

We keep concentrating on Dylan's technology but dad had a phone too that night and I'm thinking IT may have pinged.

Hello amazing people. Been reading for several months. first post here & 1st forum ever! Hope this click works.

Have followed this terrible case <indepth>since DAY TWO. Studied too much, the mass of audio testimony of MR. Have learned new skill of watching head-shakes thanks to Dylan's dad.
I know the area from decade of living & hiking there. Left in 2011.
<modsnip>
I like many of you know similar deceptive shifting "blood boiling" personality of Dylan's dad.

Praying for resolution for all and swift process of justice for Dylan. Today would be great start.
Elaine and family deserve some independence from MR on independence day.

WELCOME to Websleuths!!!!

In the forensics thread (I think), someone suggested the shoelaces could be tested for embedded DNA (from repeated contact tying the laces). They had to test the bones, so it could be done in the same time frame.

Because surely LE asked this question off the bat ?

MR seems to get confused by 2+2 but LE must of asked the day Dylan vanished what Dylan had taken with him ? - i just do not for one second believe LE never asked about what Dylan took with him on the first day IMO

It does seem like it would be a very obvious question. It's easy to imagine an investigator asking if Dylan's suitcase/luggage was gone and Mark replying that he had a backpack.

IMO: That's a very good possibility. I've always dismissed the runaway suggestion, but MR did try to milk that, talking up the situation between him and ER and saying that it was possibly keeping Dylan away. A slight variant is that MR was trying to construct several different plausible reasons for Dylan to have disappeared (fishing/hiking/abduction/runaway) and he just didn't realize that by trying to stage all those possibilities at the same time, none of them made sense (Dylan wouldn't take his full pack to go hiking/fishing; he wouldn't take his pole to to hiking; a home abduction wouldn't take pole or pack, and in reality Dylan wouldn't take his pole to run away).

Could they of used the back pack to get Dylan's scent ? - and if the answer is yes then they would of asked on the first night imo

They could've definitely gotten his scent off his backpack. And so yeah, I agree. If he had no clothes laying around, they would've asked for it on that first night I think.

actually he was receiving child support up until the change in custody and apparantly sent his ex wife a check allegedly for child support post dated the 19th of November 2012

:noooo:

I knew that circumstances of switch in payments from the one parent to the other but the date coincidence is sort of uncanny.

I for one appreciate that info, and you clearly addressed it as "rumor".

I've given a link a few posts back that said LE had asked MR to meet with them, at least thats what he told the press, possibly more reliable than a rumour that we don't have a source for

Wow. So not only did he lose his custody case, he went from receiving support to having to pay it? Let me say that as a family law lawyer who represents tons of dads, child support is a huge source of anger for many of them. They often feel they are supporting the mother and not the kids with it and it is highly upsetting. If this was another change for MR that occurred the month before he saw his son again, let me tell you, IMO - A LOT was going on with that man when Dylan got off the plane.

Does anyone have handy links to info about what happened in ocurt and to the child support stuff?

the court date was September, coincidentally it was the same day that he purchased the ticket for Dylan to visit him for thanksgiving, we don't know if he purchased it prior to the court hearing or after. IIRC in his previous custody case he purchased tickets to force the courts hand so to speak.

We know that Dylan spoke privately to the judge, but not what was said as the orders were sealed.

also note that Dylan was supposed to arrive Saturday, however that flight was cancelled and he flew in on the Sunday and that flight was delayed.

(Also posted this in the forensics thread).

Last night while I was thinking about all this, I was reminded of something my ex bf said a long time ago that I doubt I would have thought about had Dylan's murder not unfolded this way (re: coyotes, etc.):

My ex is a huge nature and animal lover. He said that when he dies, he wants his body to be laid in the woods so he can be eaten by animals so he contribute to the overall circle of life.

Dylan's remains have undergone a cycle which now contributes to fertilizing the earth. It's like ashes to ashes, hard to explain, but Dylan's essence now exists physically in nature through the soil, trees, plants, anything that grows. I'm imagining a beautiful tree with flowers blossoming.

I'm sure this has been posted:

"Mark Redwine had maintained that he had nothing to do with his son's disappearance and offers his own theory on what happened.

"I've always believed that one of two things happened. When he walked out the front door he set out for a destination and never made it. Or I've always thought a vehicle pulled up in front of my house and he knew who it was and he got into a vehicle with somebody," Mark Redwine told the station."

(*still no direct reference to MR addressing the potential perp and/or trying to find / track down the person(s) responsible in an effort to seek justice.)

Just a clarification, I believe it was Cory who stepped in and a fight ensued. I believe MR was intoxicated. IIRC, MR attempted to press charges against Cory.

Were you thinking of this perhaps? Later that same day (UBM):

In another protective order request, Mark claims he was victimized later that same day. "I was attacked and beaten then left for hours until I woke up," he wrote. Mark says his older son Cory admitted he was responsible for the beating.

Thanks for your post! I hadn't heard about the army men. I'm very curious about the Dexter reference--I tried Googling. What's the connection?

In the opening sequence of Dexter- with all the credits it shows an image- of Dexter's morning routine- alluding to the serial murderers tools - knives... floss...and shoe lacing...

Thank you asyousay! We had a mixture of the details, which originated from 9news. The next paragraph -

•In another protective order request, Mark claims he was victimized later that same day. "I was attacked and beaten then left for hours until I woke up," he wrote. Mark says

http://🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/dyan-redwine-family-history-of-domestic.html?m=1

IMO
I bet Mark loved reporting that as it paints him as the victim. I mean forget about how he would of provoked it by having sex on a lawn in front of his young son and his wife and oldest son.
It seems like as long as he could hurt Elaine it did not matter what it might do to his poor impressionable son who would of been less than 10 years of age.

Sorry to post some random thoughts, but just again looking at some of the facts of the case..and to steal one of Mark's phrases the facts from none other than the horse's mouth, Mark Redwine, himself.

Ya know I just cannot express just how very strongly I have come to believe that the picture here with this case, especially the crucial and critical issues of this case regarding how/what/why Dylan's missing/murder came to be.. IMO the picture has truly come more and more sharply into focus and a lot of fine focus even came through words from none other than the horse's mouth, Mark Redwine, himself..

Some of the finer details really became even clearer in Mark's IMO extremely different accounting of what were those last hours of Dylan's life that Mark spent with him..what was the actual atmosphere..what was the actual father/son dynamic between the two BY THIS SPECIFIC POINT IN TIME..<<-- Let me clarify why I am emphasizing BY THIS SPECIFIC POINT IN TIME.. earlier some were heatedly discussing in defense of Mark's fine relationship he had with his youngest son..bringing up the innocence of a child's accounting of Dylan's relationship with his dad(ie.the multi quoting of RN's brief remark about he'd spent the night with Dylan at his dad's and he saw they got along fabulously).. I agree RN's statement is an honest statement, as well as I actually even believe that its likely Dyl was getting along with dad quite fabulously AT THAT POINT IN TIME that RN is speaking of in describing what he saw btwn Dylan and his dad..

Key issue is that as anyone knows who has even loosely followed this case to use the description that there was a drastically, starkly contrasting difference in what was the relationship Dylan had with his dad at the point in time of say, when RN speaks of staying at Mark's with Dylan..to say that relationship between Mark and Dylan was starkly contrastingly different from that point in time compared to THE POINT IN TIME OF THE DISAPPEARANCE..well, IMO starkly contrasting does not even begin to accurately describe what an extreme decline had occurred with their relationship.

Let's look at what very, very crucial, key issues transpired leading up to his death..IMO in taking a truly honest and objective look at what key issues transpired, occurred, and then what each of those incidents or events then led to as a result..IMO what clearly emerges are the key issues that directly led to this young man's life being taken<<--again I'LL REITERATE MOO!. I believe those key issues along with what resulted from each issue is exactly what led to and exactly when it led to the extremely stark contrasting difference that came to be in Mark Redwine's relationship with his youngest son, Dylan.

I believe RN's description of his friend Dylan getting along great with his dad..and IMO I even believe there were good times between Dylan and dad..<modsnip> it marked the fork in the road at which point from there on out any semblance of this father/son relationship that may have been prior to this incident..<modsnip>..<modsnip>..

<modsnip>.

From there as we know there was no further contact/communication between this father and son all the way leading up to Dylan's having flown in on that plane to Durango on November 18.. Dylan did not reply, nor answer any of Mark's calls/texts and as we know also from none other than the horse's mouth there was quite a tension filled atmosphere upon Dylan's arrival in what was imo the last night of Dylan's life..

<modsnip> Tension IMO does NOT begin to describe what was the atmosphere on the night of Sunday, November 18th..<modsnip>.as Mark, himself tells us this private in chambers meeting was only at the request of none other than his ex wife, Elaine.

<modsnip> Within mere hours of that first contact and communication between Dylan and his father, Dylan lost his life.

IMO clearer is the picture that continues to emerge from what are the extremely sad, very, very traumatizing issues that IMO directly led to this young man's life being tragically taken from him and the many family/friends who love him.. Just as the picture has thus far become only more clear, more into focus..I, too believe that clarity and sharpening of details will continue to emerge of those very key issues that occurred directly leading to how/why this young man's life was so cruelly taken from him and all the many who love him.

All jmo of the issues that we have learned transpired in the literal weeks leading up to Dylan's death..and as stated above tho, IMO its quite likely not what Mark Redwine at all intended..but in all truth some of the clarity emerging in the picture of the case as a whole has been from none other than the very horse's mouth, Mark Redwine, himself.. We see it time and again where it is the actual perpetrator, themselves that often unknowingly are giving kernals of truth and accuracy in statements that's intentions are to deflect away from themselves.. IMO often times we see that intent royally backfire as a result of their narcissistic belief that they are clever and can talk their way out of any situation..hence their continued speaking when everyone/anyone else can clearly see that the individual is causing the exact opposite effect..

**added disclaimer**
<modsnip>

Wow. So not only did he lose his custody case, he went from receiving support to having to pay it?

Catching up (again) so I'm probably late (again) LOL . . . per azgrandma (verified insider who is MR's first ex-wife), yes:

At this point, I can't remember if there is an MSM link regarding that . . . after 7+ months, a lot of stuff is starting to run together. :blushing: I want to say no because most of the official court documents from last year are still sealed according to MSM, per this video, IIRC:
