I'm sure i'm not the only one in tears over this news. As my heart goes out to Dylan's family and friends, my heart also goes out to all of my fellow WS'ers.
This is a sad day for us all.

~ Peace ~

Thoughts are with his family and friends. Heartbroken......... :(

Oh no. I know it isn't a surprise but still a shock if that makes sense.

Rest in peace, Dylan.

IMO, LE should never say that people should not be overly concerned when the remains of a child have been found in a criminal case, unless they have a suspect and know where he or she is at all times.

Yeah, in the Leila F case the reporters asked the sheriff almost verbatim what was asked of Bender today at the news conference on 9News - whether the community should be concerned there is a dangerous person on the loose, knowing it was a criminal investigation and a suspect had not been apprehended. They were told not to be overly concerned, just routine vigilance. Within a week or so, the brother was arrested.

If LE or any of the search teams read here,

THANK YOU!

While this is not an outcome anyone would hope for, your diligence and hard work have allowed this young man to come home.

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for your efforts in this case.

I would think it would be too long since Dylan's disappearance for it to be cell phone pings, they had those immediately. Unless...........there were more recent ones. Just thinking outloud.

Seajay: LE had this area on their radar and had to stop searching this area when he snow came. They were just waiting on the snow to melt. It makes sense they had some info because they were fairly disinterested in the lake after that first search.

IMO IF LE had cell pings in that area, it would have been from the time Dylan went missing.

I wonder if ping data could be analyzed over time to a more specific locale, or if the area was not easily searchable until now, due to weather and availability of the search teams and organizations used. It could have been tricky to line up a number of days when all were able to do it.

I am blank. Why did I feel this kid was invincible? And he would defy the odds?

Special thanks to all of you who have stuck around all these months. The spats have
been because we all felt so connected and hopeful for this young man . I hope we can
all stick together and follow this through to a trial of some kind.

Because youth is so invincible. No worries- I'm not leaving until we see some justice served. Dylan deserves that much and more.

Actually, it seems the opposite is true here. The little ones almost never make it.

One of the articles I read did say they had to consider the availability of the searchers to commit to multiple day searches after the snow melted and warmer weather approached. Something like that. Now I'm not sure which one it was though. It also said there were at least 45 searchers each day.

This drainage area where Dylan was found: it is alongside a trail, correct? is the trail wide enough to accomadate a vehicle? How far is the trail from a parking area or the closest street?

RIP Dylan. I hope whoever is responsible for this is caught and convicted.

Yes, and many agencies were involved. I imagine it took some doing to set up dates, after the snow melted, that suited everyone. So they may well have known they would be searching this area for six months.

Dylan,
While today marks my no longer crying tears of fear or terror for all the "what its" that fill our minds in thinking of that slim possibility of your having been alive and in constant fear, terror, and/or pain every single minute of every single day for these last six months. So, while today marks the end of that fear..I now shed tears most of all for your beautiful family who are left behind to live the remainder of their lives without you in it.. Tears of sorrow and anger flow freely today for what has been so cruelly robbed of you in taking your precious, young, and vibrant life that you had only just begun. I cry tears of anger in thinking of what was done to you and what you possibly endured in your final moments of life.. I cry tears of heart wrenching sorrow for your mom AND brother in what they, too have been so cruelly robbed of in stripping you from their lives.. My heart today hurts most of all for them..

For now I am able to find peace in knowing that you are not suffering..you are not living in terror or pain..much different is the fact that you have not known pain, sorrow, or heartache in quite some time in my taking solace in knowing that you are AND have been flying high with the angels and are in such a place of peace and wonder that our human minds can NOT even begin to know or comprehend.

Dylan, tho I would have never dreamt it at the time of my first coming to know about you, your story, and your missing for the several days that it was when I first learned who Dylan Redwine was.. So much like our beautiful Hailey in so very many ways now in looking back.. Hailey who has been the nearest and dearest to me for so long now.. So, too have I been drawn to you in what now are unmistakeable parallels of you two in your literally having only just begun and within a blink of an eye you both with such full of life eyes and smiles, with each your whole entire lives before you.. Both gone..taken..stolen from your lives and from this world and what each of you would have grown to be and to contribute to this world..

All of that taken from each of you and from all of us..

I can only say to you, Dylan, keep soaring ever higher with those angels alongside the many like you and Hailey who have been stolen from us here on earth, but that I know heaven is even brighter and more beautiful with the souls of those like you and Hailey..

I do not for one second worry that justice will not come for you, Dylan. I do not worry because I without doubt know that both your mother and brother will fight with every breath of their beings to ensure that justice is served on behalf of what has been done to you. Those wheels of justice may turn so, so, very slow, but I haven't a shadow of a doubt that justice will be served on your behalf, Dyl!

For now keep flying ever higher..

All my love,
Jessica

Someone posted that this road is only accessible from June to November? What makes it inaccessible prior to June? Snow? Was that why LE was searching it now?

The remains were found roughly 8 to 10 miles from the father's house, via the rural road system, Bender said. It is closer via a straight line.

He also declined to be specific about where the remains were found, but said it was about halfway up Middle Mountain Road, a forest service road that begins from the east side of Vallecito Reservoir.

“We don't want to say specifically where, but it was roughly halfway up Middle Mountain Road,” he said.

For those wondering why they searched Middle Mountain, Sgt Bender spoke to the Durango Herald and I transcribed some of that interview regarding why the search there.

At 01:25...Reporter "Can you give us more of an exact location where the remains were found?"
Bender "Middle Mountain Road is about 12 miles long and we searched that by/through the entirety. We also searched/checked drainage's off either side and it was in one of those drainage's that we found the majority of the items."
At 01:48...Reporter "What prompted the search of that area?"
Bender "We, from the very beginning, have had a/specific areas that we wanted to search. We searched those in November and December. When snows came we could not get any further than we had and when the snows melted we...actually have been doing searches almost on a weekly bases since the snows have cleared and Middle Mountain was just one more of those areas we wanted to check."

At 03:12...Bender "The search at Middle Mountain had been planned for at least 2-4 weeks because we wanted to have it so thorough, we needed specific resources and for people to be able to plan their schedules to be able to be up there potentially for multiple days as it turned out it was 5 days. We had on each day an average of about 45 people in the searches. They included search and rescue personnel and LE personnel."

Disregard my last questions this explains it all!

Was this snow there when Dylan went missing or did it come after?
