A Boston official on CNN said if jury gives him death penalty that would make him a martyr which is what he probably wants to be known as. LWOP would be more painful, I think.

As a Bostonian I have my own similar thoughts on this. IMO there is no such thing as martyrdom by lethal injection. I don't know how he sees himself and I don't care. Neither do I know how his sympathizers will see it. So I want to see the slow rot of LWOP on every single one of the 17 counts that qualify for the DP, so that regardless of any appeals of the 30 guilty verdicts, there is no way he will see daylight and he will be quickly forgotten.

On Tamerlan Tsarnaev, he was not a martyr either. He was shot by police and was being handcuffed when Dzhokhar ran him over and dragged him down the street. So getting run over by your brother doesn't qualify for martyrdom - never heard of it.

A Martyr willingly dies for his cause, but these 2 cowardly criminals snuck in and snuck out, then tried to leave the state. and after running his brother over, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev hid like a scared baby, writing a half hearted manifesto in the boat as if that meant something. He willingly placed that backpack behind a child - child killers are not the most popular in prison, IMO.

I think if he does get LWOP more Americans will be taken hostage and killed if America doesn't agree to a trade.

I say who cares if he becomes a martyr. let him live in his prison cage in solitary. Then let him go to his 72 virgins.

I don't know if this article has been posted, it has some interesting unanswered questions.

http://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/20...-unanswered/jyMdOGik41AaDbKzEDUNPP/story.html

What about the unsolved 2011 Waltham triple murders and Tamerlan’s potential role?

It’s possible more information about that case could emerge in the penalty phase.

I still hope we will get info about these murders, but not holding my breath.

Has anyone ever mentioned that they are only virgins the first time? So,,, what about the rest of eternity.

Male or female virgins ?? Cute or ugly ? Big or little ? Nice or mean ?
Sometimes you have to have a little humor. I hope this jerk suffers in prison no matter what the penalty.

Most of all there needs to be some closure for his many victims....those who will never get to see their loved ones again ---and those who are maimed for life !!!!

Tsarnaev trial not about guilt, but about punishment

"...If Tsarnaev is sentenced to death, his lawyers will launch every available appeal at their disposal. Even if he loses those appeals, he will spend years and years on federal death row in Terre Haute, Ind., watching a flat screen TV in his cell....

If Tsarnaev is sentenced to life, it is almost certain that the US Bureau of Prisons will ship him to the Super Max prison in Colorado, if only because Tsarnaev wouldn’t last 15 minutes in general population anywhere. Once there, he would spend 23 hours a day in a 12-by-7-foot cell with a 3-foot-high window that is 4 inches wide. He won’t get a view of the Rockies...."

Even after he pled guilty! Ugh, I really despise her. I don't think DT had near as many supporters left anyway, but who knows.

She truly sounds insane. None of what she says makes sense, even from an extremist standpoint. I wonder if there wasn't more of a mental illness issue in this home than has been previously mentioned. I've read that she's the one who influenced Tamerlan to start seeking jihadist teachings and pushed him to radicalize. In my opinion, there are more than a few screws loose in nearly every member of this family. I'm not surprised her husband left her and ran back to Dagestan to get away from her. Now he's stuck in Makachkala with her. You reap what you sow... quite literally. Yikes!

Let's not forget that is was RUSSIA that tried to tip us off to these bad guys. Maybe we should let them have him, send him to a shack in Siberia.

In the Boston Marathon Bombing, a Verdict, but Few Answers (An Opinion)

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/09/o...zhokhar-tsarnaev-verdict-but-few-answers.html

This was interesting. I know it's just an opinion piece so I'm wondering is it true we don't know where the bombs were made? I had assumed they were made in the apartment.
I do believe we will still have a lot of questions after the trial and I always wonder about how much Tamerlans wife knew. She couldn't have been completely unaware could she? And if not then why no charges for her? Wonder if she will come up in the penalty phase.
I think the defense may use the triple murder to say Dzhokhar was afraid of Tamerlan.
I won't even start about mother Tsarnaev but I believe she should be being tried as well for her role in this. IMO
