2 I get the impression that this is not a woman who likes to be told what to do, and will make your life h*** if you try to do so. Probably really good in a crisis hospital setting like WAfrica, where you need a strong hand, but not so good when it comes time to play with others on their preferred terms.

You've been reading my mind.

So the nurse that got out of quarantine in NJ has now decided she does NOT want to remain in isolation at her home in Maine either! Her lawyer is now fighting that!

The poster here that said they didn't think she could be trusted to abide by a home based isolation was RIGHT!

Even if she does NOT infect anyone but she comes down with it she could have a serious effect on businesses that she "visits" when they shut down, or like the Frontier Air when they have to replace carpet and seat covers on a plane and spend time notifying all of the folks that flew etc...

And what if she decides to go around animals during her little "human rights crusade", what happens if she goes to an animal shelter? Will the shelter have to close down for lack of adoptions OR kill all of the animals if it turns out she was carrying the virus???

If she could I am sure she would DEMAND to be able to return to work and treat patients as well, course that won't happen because her employer can say "h#ll no". Maybe the lawyer will sue her employer and demand that she be allowed to return to working with patients after he is finished with the State of Maine?

I don't trust that she will comply. I still don't even though maine says they have a quarantine and it's not voluntary. I hope to hell they make her stick to it, just out of principal. jmo

Nope, she has no intentions of complying with a quarantine. Self centered and selfish, she doesn't care who she puts at risk. Clearly pushing the CDC agenda.
Remember what she said when her mother asked if she would be quarantined in Maine. What more proof do we need.

And how did she get a top notch law firm to quickly represent her. Who is paying the attorney's fees?

She may have won this battle... and it is interesting that she continues to fight. On some level, she has to acknowledge her own reality. She has been in very recent contact with ebola patients and returned home where the government is doing everything it can to prevent an out break of the deadly disease. Although many appear to be lulled into a false sense of security by the US ebola successes, the reality remains that those statistics would look different with a sizeable outbreak that overwhelms resources. Why she would even risk contributing to that scenario on an ethical and moral level is mind boggling not to mention the science. This presence of this kind of insight is not represented anywhere in statements that she's made. What is blatantly apparent is that she is fighting many levels of administrative authority. Perhaps potential employers will long remember that this isn't someone who will support their philosophies unless she personally agrees with them.
While the experience will look fabulous on a resume, the character she's demonstrated may very well overshadow it.

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/ebola-virus-outbreak/how-fort-kent-maine-prepared-nurse-kaci-hickox-n235296

So boyfriend isn't allowed on campus during KH's observation period and, I find it very hard to believe that a 49-bed hospital, in the upper most northern region of Maine (1 hour from where I am), is trained and equipped to deal with an Ebola patient (if that should arise), especially on such short notice. I know for a fact that the 65-bed hospital in Caribou (Cary) and the 89-bed facility in Presque Isle (Gould) are not trained, nor are they equipped for Ebola as I spoke with several nurses yesterday who are concerned, considering the latest... I would also like to know who paid for her charter flight home.

Alert issued, fears spread on Fort Kent campus of nurse’s boyfriend
Officials and students don’t want Theodore Wilbur in classes if he has had recent direct contact with Kaci Hickox. They had been living together off-campus.

They cannot possibly catch anything whatsoever from him at this time, or ahead while she is being monitored for symptoms, even in the worst case scenario. Stupidity abounds.

Not sure about Kaci, but I am covered by insurance for nursing purposes and the insurance will cover an attorney for certain reasons.

I read somewhere that the CDC sent 2 black cars to transport her.

Sez who. Other than the unfounded assumptions on this site, of course.

"She agreed to finish out the remainder of a 21-day quarantine at her boyfriend’s Fort Kent home." NY Post story

"A nurse who was confined against her will at a hospital in New Jersey after treating Ebola patients in West Africa is in Maine, where state officials said she's agreed to be quarantined, officials said Tuesday." AP story

"Maine officials said they expected Ms. Hickox to self-quarantine at a rental house she shares with her boyfriend in Fort Kent, Me., a potato-farming community about three hours outside Bangor, the nearest city.

"She was cooperating with Maine public-health officials and had agreed to stay in her home and not venture into large public spaces, her attorney, Steven Hyman of New York, said Monday night. " WSJ story

That is just ridiculous. That nurse should be left alone. We cannot treat everyone who comes to the U.S. as if they "might" be infected. Again, how many have returned over the years and never got sick???

It appears that there wouldn't have been " many" returning " over the years".
The following is a link with statistics on how many cases have occurred through the years. Some years less than a handful of infections which means that no international help may have been needed.

OMG. People are really going overboard with this. He can't possibly be infected right now. She doesn't show any symptoms. She tested negative twice. She can't infect him unless she starts showing symptoms.

I read that too, but I am wondering if they just took her to the airport because Bangor News said she flew on a private plane.

No charter flight home for her. I wonder if she will complain that 10+ hours in a car was inhumane? (Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

"And Hickox set off from Newark just after 1 p.m. in a convoy of black SUV’s for Fort Kent, a 10-hour drive through some of America’s most scenic country. Wilbur confirmed on his Facebook page that Hickox was headed to his home. "
