Emergency meeting called at Buckingham Palace in London

As I post this we have about 3 hours until 8:00 AM London time.

People are talking about how the Queen and Prince Philip were out and about recently. At their age sudden death is so common as we all know.

My 84-Year-Old Father who was in great health ate breakfast, made a date with his much older girlfriend (I told him he should date women his own age LOL ) then literally dropped dead. No warning.

If the Queen has passed then Charles takes the throne as King. Interesting where that leaves Camilla. She is divorced. Not sure how, if it is the queen, this will affect her title.

I find it interesting that his mother will not abdicate for her son. At least she hasn't so far.

Love our British members. Please check in and tell us what is going on from your neck of the woods.

Tricia

Camilla won't be the Queen. Phillip wasn't the King although he was married to the Queen. The Queen Mother was not the Queen, she was married to the King.

that's because they didn't automatically lower it because she was divorced from Charles and not considered 'royalty'

people were pizzed

There was a major scandal about this when Princess Diana died I don't know what the protocol is. I doubt they would put the flags at half mast before the public announcement. Photos from people at the scene on social media are saying the flags are Not at half mast at the moment.

That is interesting, but I find the wording a bit clumsy.

It just got stranger - could it be someone less famous but would still fall under the protocol

I'm thinking it may be a member of the Royal family who has passed but not a major well known person.

Maybe the Pres of the US made a phone call. I will, leave it at that

I am sorry, but I find it a little difficult to believe that a palace official is taking calls and answering questions from a TV station in New Zealand.

Lets say noone passed Are there other things that would result in this kind of event

Camilla won't be the Queen. Phillip wasn't the King although he was married to the Queen. The Queen Mother was not the Queen, she was married to the King.

I understand the wife of the king is always known as Queen Consort but when Charles becomes king he has the power to go to the assession council and ask the Duchess of Cornwall be officially called Queen.

I have such respect for British protocol. The history and civilized, honorable formality.

In this current age of instant news via tweets and various social media - it is SO refreshing.

My heart goes out to all of our UK friends. [emoji636]

Does anyone know if this protocol falls under if HRH steps down and turns over her throne to her son?

Don't know about all of you but I am staying up to find out what this is all about.

I hope it is not Elizabeth. We are not ready to lose her steadying influence on the Commonwealth.
