Emmys will edit Kathy Griffin’s offensive speech

Or if you're respected enough they won't even try. Take George Carlin for example. I saw him live a few weeks ago during my bachelor party in Las Vegas. No one dared try. He probably would have slayed them.
George Carlin ...I won't say one word about him!!!:silenced: (:loser: :bang:    :slap: )

Nova, I just have to thank you for saying what I think, and for saying it so well.

Hey, it was my turn, after you did such a good job of explaining separation of church and state in the PP yesterday.

Steven Wright is great. I love how deadpan he is. Here's his bio from MySpace http://www.myspace.com/comedianstevenwright

"I was born. When I was 23 I started telling jokes..... Then I started going on television and doing films. That's still what I am doing. The end.

For a less in-depth bio on me, you can visit my website. www.stevenwright.com"

Speaking of Steven Wright, he came to our college campus about 15yrs ago. He left the stage when someone started heckling him....just politely turned around and left the stage right in the middle of his act!! (needless to say, people where not happy!)

Well, that stinks! Nobody heckled him at all when we saw him. I was disappointed that he really didn't have anything new in his routine (this was about 7 yrs ago I think) though.

Nova, next time I listen to his routine I'll be thinking about your view of his act. I never thought of his routine that way. Interesting.

Just saw an old performance of Carlin's on HBO where he asks,
"...and what is it with sports people thanking Jesus for their achievement? How come you never see any of them blame Jesus when they lose? ... 'Jesus made me fumble' ..."
btw, watching the vid clip linked earlier...I am reminded how, in every media appearance, Bill Donohue demonstrates that he is the most un-Christian of Christians. Judging from his reaction to KG's remarks, I'll bet his head would explode if some NASCAR driver announced he/she is an atheist.

Shock value is part of Griffin's public persona and arguably necessary to get people's attention. Though I'll admit that she would have gotten almost as much attention had she left the last bit off, it elevates the occurrence from only slightly humorous to hilarious. But then again, I'm all about disrespectful humor, so...

Am I the only one around here that isn't into George Carlin?

I think you've made an excellent statement. If you're not into disrespectful humor, KG will not suit you. I happen to like it also.... but everyones differences is what makes the world go round....ay!??

Hi Close!

Type that title into the youtube search box. I think a snippet's there. :)

I like Kathy Griffin to a point. She does make me lmao for the most part. I was watching a clip of her yesterday and what she said about Mary Kate Olsen was completely hilarious.

Rosh Hashanah ends tomorrow and I'm reminded of my good friend who teaches at The South Texas College of Law in Houston. In his lectures he would often tell a story from his younger days as a criminal defense attorney defending some character for various and sundry crimes. His punch line was ... whenever the verdict came back "not guilty", the client would inevitably look to the sky and say "Thank you, Jesus." His sotto voce response was always the same- "wrong Jew."
