I know what you mean, sherri. We stick mostly with the Disney channel around here. We are getting rid of cable eventually, we just have to wean ourselves first! lol
I think the worst part is when you know they are safe watching a particular tv show or movie but the commercials aren't necessarily the same rating.![]()
I guess 9 is too young for Family Guy and South Park. I have seen some of those which were a bit much.
Channel 10 here in Oz drives me insane, during the Simpsons at 6 pm they start plugging the anti smoking campaigns.
So sick of trying to edit ads!
Wait, you're upset about anti-smoking ads? LOL That's too funny, narla.
The ads I'm talking about are usually about movies w/nasty scenes that aren't for children, or upcoming tv shows that aren't for children.
LOL, you're killing me, narla.
Oh, please narla, I wouldn't bash you. I used to smoke too.
I do remember the school passing out "before/after smoking" pictures of lungs to my daughter's class when she was young. She stuck hers in a picture frame and made me take it to work!
I can't say that it had any affect on me! :innocent:
i will be so happy in the future then. i can not wait! keeping a eye on what my kids watch is a full time job i swear. out of 300 channels they only have 10 not blocked in the living room and i still have to say "omg what are you watching! that show is now off limits!!!"
Too cool - no commercials
LOL..LOL- those ones drive me insane too! DS saw the ad for NCIS once and had nightmares that night! geez walked out of room for like 2 secs
No really about the stupid smoking ads, first time DS saw one he started crying!
I don't smoke in front of him ever since then- it worries him that I am going to die-
I know I know, I SHOULD give up, it is entirely selfish of me and I hate myself for it, so please don't bash me :hand:
ps- I dont smoke that much..
LOL:crazy:LOL..
While tobacco is legal you should be able to smoke wherever and whenever that's IMO....the parents I worry about are the ones that smoke marijuana while raising kids....some of these parents cant see faults with this drug and consider it a safe escape from their problems:doh:
I don't think parents should smoke around their children, that's my opinion.
The adults I know who smoke pot don't do that around their kids, but I know plenty of parents who get sloshed in front of their kids and even with their kids.
Exactly, I do not smoke pot (did in my youth) and dont smoke ciggies either, I do know people who smoke and drink in front of the children and have done all their kids life, one of them left home at 15 and the other smokes and drinks with the adults. I disagree passionately with this, my hubby smokes but is not allowed to in the house, hate the smell and dirty ashtrays plus it discolours walls and curtains, Yuk.Getting high in front of their kids or not, how can those same adults tell their kids not to smoke pot when they themselves smoke it?

Maybe they don't..LOL...
Parents always have to be careful how they look in front of their kids. Children watch and learn. It's a little weird to be drunk or stoned in front of your kids and then tell them don't do this.
Smoking cigarettes in front of your kids can harm thier health. That has already been proven. If you smoke, you should go outside. I know it is legal and your choice but you don't have to subject your children to the second hand smoke.
I agree that there is always a risk that any kid can end up with a drug problem. I don"t think there is a one size fits all profile of kids that are at risk. I think all kids are at risk.It doesn't matter what you tell your kids about drugs- there is always a risk your child will get into them anyway- even the best of kids have ended up dead from drugs.
