Re-watched the Unsolved Mysteries episode and there was a lot that I found rather interesting.
In the UM segment, Don Dixon appears to call Eric’s sister after a week of apparently getting calls from friends to check on him.
(Sidenote) no-one contacted his sister? What friends called Don and not Ramona? And furthermore, why did Don never contact Ramona or any of Eric’s family members? How does he not know Eric was on vacation? or in a coma? or in jail?
It’s interesting that Don never makes any statements about the attempts
he himself made to contact Eric. He never mentions calling Eric himself, nothing about missed calls or leaving any voicemails. He never mentioned that he reached out to Eric‘s family. Nor did he ever mention that he called police or hospitals or anything. It’s almost as if he already knew what he was going to find.
He also clearly had access to, and could have potentially deleted, any messages or calls on Eric’s cellphone seeing as he was found to have the phone when the sheriff arrived on the scene.
Another thing I found surprising was that the unsolved mysteries segment makes it look like he called Ramona (Eric’s sister) during the day. But according to Ramona Tamiyasu‘s interview with KATU News, she received the call from Don via Eric’s phone around 7pm in the evening that Friday night.
Why did Don use Eric’s cell phone and not his own? If I found a dear friend dead in their home, I’d use my own phone or a landline or a neighbours. Using the cell phone of the deceased? That wouldn’t come to mind, but that might just be me.
And where did Don retrieve this phone from, when he arrived on the scene? If Eric didn’t usually keep his phone near him or near his bed, then Don could have wandered all over the place. Hell, there’s no way to prove he didn’t.
Plus if Eric was known to keep his door unlocked, a number of individuals could have been all over that place within the 7 days it took from when Eric died to when Don found the body.
Don also mentions that Eric told him that he was seeing another woman aside from the woman in the UM intro. An older Polynesian woman.
Does anyone know if this “Polynesian woman” was ever identified? If she was older than Eric, was might she have been married? seeing someone? Or in the middle of a separation?
Again it’s interesting that only Don Dixon mentions this woman in the UM episode. No one else. Did he not mention this to anyone else?
Don is also quoted in UM as saying “rumour mill has it that the Sherrif’s wife is Polynesian and she’s also older than Eric, but that could be coincidental”
Can anyone corroborate that she even exists?
Continuing the UM segment, Don
then directs the investigation towards Eric Smith, one of Tamiyasu’s business partners at the time. He says that he overheard an argument between the two business partners and that Smith was pocketing somewhere around 50K-60K that was owed to Tamiyasu. Which resulted in the loud argument that he overheard.
Police corrected this narrative stating that that this was in-fact, incorrect. Both business partners invested the same amount of money ($15K), the company went downhill and eventually they went out of business.
So did Tamiyasu lie or did Dixon?
I gotta be honest here after watching the segment. I’m suspicious of Don.
He is
the only one to point fingers at someone else. And in fact, he does this not once but
twice.
Also in the UM segment Don implies that Eric had been depressed and his first reaction when seeing Eric’s body was that this was a suicide.
So according to Don, it could’ve been his business partner (Eric Smith) it could’ve been the sheriff (over the mysterious Polynesian gf) or it could’ve been Eric himself!
Is it just me or is that kind of weird? IMHO that’s a lot of possibilities to suggest within a very short amount of time on a UM segment, no?
I just find it incredibly illuminating even more so when you’re the only one in the entire segment pointing fingers.
Almost too many fingers.
It’s just the motive that escapes me.
The recent KATU news segment not only interviewed his sister but they also briefly interviewed his two close friends, Don Hudson and Dan Ziegenbein (sp).
They likely could attest to which aspects of Don Dixon’s statements ring true and which do not.
I hope anyone associated with this case is still alive and hasn’t been able to get away with harming Eric.
I don’t know why, but I get the feeling that law-enforcement knows more than they’re letting on. Maybe it’s the fact that they are re-opening the case?
Having said that, I still feel that there is a lot here that needs to be looked into.
This is all just my opinion of course. What does everyone else think?
