A 24 year old Eagle Pass woman, Evelyn Guardado, has been reported missing by family members since Tuesday, January 31, 2023, after leaving her workplace at the Eagle Pass Detention Facility, owned and operated by The Geo Group, Inc., announced Eagle Pass Police Department Chief of Police Federico Garza.

Garza stated Guardado left the Eagle Pass Detention Facility-Geo, located at 742 FM 131, Eagle Pass, Texas, approximately 12 miles north of Eagle Pass, Texas near the Maverick County Industrial Park, after leaving her workplace at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, and has not been heard from since then. Family and friends have attempted to call her cell telephone number to no avail, which is believed to be turned off.

Garza added that Guardado’s automobile, a Dodge Charger, was located two days after her disappearance on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the Latigo Apartments, located at 2046 Legacy Blvd., Eagle Pass, Texas. The automobile was impounded for investigative purposes by the Eagle Pass Police Department Detectives Division, presumably to do a complete search for evidence and fingerprints.

Garza requested any person having any information concerning the whereabouts of Evelyn Guardado to please contact the Eagle Pass Police Department at (830) 773-9044 or 911.

Garza added that all local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies have been alerted as to Guardado’s disappearance and be on the lookout for her. Garza noted that the Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico law enforcement authorities have been notified as well.

Evelyn Guardado previously served as a Maverick County Constable Deputy in Precinct 3 AB. She is 5 feet, 4 inches tall and has brown eyes with black hair. She is single and has one child. She was last seen wearing her Geo work uniform on January 31, 2023.

I had to google what a constable is, via The Texas Association of Counties:

Constables

Constables are also peace officers whose offices were created by the Texas Constitution. They are elected to office once every four years. A county may have multiple constables but only one per precinct. The voters who reside within a particular precinct of the county elects the constable for that precinct and that constable’s primary jurisdiction is the geographic boundaries of that precinct.

Constables may appoint deputies who are peace officers to assist in performing their duties.

By statute, constables duties include:

  • Serves as a licensed peace officer and performs various law enforcement functions, including issuing traffic citations
  • Serves warrants and civil papers such as subpoenas and temporary restraining orders
  • Serves as bailiff for Justice of the Peace Court.
Like the sheriff, the constable’s office is funded from local tax dollars administered by the county commissioners court.

Worrisome. Car found, phone turned off.
Someone who had been at the Facility holding a grudge? (Not likely, IMO.)
Did she have car trouble and someone unknown offered to give her a ride somewhere, and...?

It has been too many days with no contact.
She is a nice-looking woman with a pretty smile, and she has one child who certainly needs his or her mommy. Sounds like she does have family who, hopefully, can take care of her child until Evelyn is back home -- safely & soon, let's hope.
Eagle Pass is very close to the Mexican Border.
Prayers for good news soon.

Evelyn left work on Tuesday. No one at work thought anything about her not returning to work on Wed., Thurs, or Fri.?

FacilityDetail

Capacity: 661

Client: U.S. Marshals Service (USMS)

So, Evelyn, 24yo, goes from being a Constable of Maverick County to working at the BP Facility. So, explain this:

In the initial news post for this thread it states she was in precinct 3ab. This man was in #4 and there can be multiple constables in a county, it's not like a sheriff, where there's only a single elected official. Only one per precinct though.

After further searching I realized there's a Constable(=Police Chief) and Constable Deputies(=Police Officers). She wasn't "the Constable". Lol. We don't have them in Florida? I wonder if any other states do.

There was a news conference earlier today. I don't know what was said as I am not fluent in Spanish. A person with initials AP has relevant comments.

So someone was arrested yesterday as linked in news prior. That person was charged with possession of Evelyn (24yo) Guardado's car and faces murder charges. It's not clear to me if this is a suspect known or unknown to the victim. The arrest must have been disclosed in the Spanish speaking press conf.

"An unidentified male suspect was arrested in Medina County and faces murder charges.
On Monday, officials announced that they arrested a man who was in possession of her vehicle, and he has been charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. "

RIP Evelyn ~ sad you're gone too soon. May swift Justice prevail.

Despite the headline, there is no belt mentioned in this article, but near the end of the video the LE officer says they could see several contusions and they found a belt that he thinks "has a lot to do with her death." :(

[...]

The remains were found in the northern part of Maverick County, in the town of Quemado, by law enforcement searching for Guardado. The rural region is close to where Guardado reportedly worked as a detention officer at a private prison.

[...]

Police now say a coworker of Guardado, Jesus Vasquez, has been charged with her murder, after he was caught and arrested in Medina County after the remains were found.

"We don't know the exact relationship that he had with her," Garza said. "There are a lot of rumors, so many things we need to narrow down."

According to officials, Guardado left work and dropped off a friend on Jan. 31, and that was the last time anyone heard from her.

<modsnip - not an approved source>

Eagle Pass police reportedly said that there are several identifiers on the body that "most likely" point to Guardado. The body was found with visible wounds but was sent off to the medical examiner's office in Laredo for positive identification. Eagle Pass Police Chief Federico Garza told KENS 5 that investigators also found a belt near the body that might have been used in the death of the remains found.
