EVIDENCE - Pro and Con #2

They shouldn`t even be allowed to own a hand gun with the charge of murder, those guns should be in police possession. They are out on bond with hand guns? And possibly the guns that could have done the killing. Somehow, that just doesn`t seem right. Someone in authority should know where those guns are and have them in their possession. If they aren`t in police security, that is one huge mistake.

Neither are convicted, just accused. Their 2nd Amendment rights prevail until conviction, per the U.S. Constitution.

I wasn't sure where to put this question. Does the gag order apply to BW and SS,Heather's date?

John’s gag order prohibits any prosecutors, defense attorneys or their staffs and members of law enforcement, who have investigated the case, to publicly speak or release documents regarding the case. If any of those people wish to publicly speak about the case they must have prior permission from John, according to the documents.

So, I would say no, it does not affect them. I know why you're asking, though. :)

Just saw what you are talking about, and no, it does not.

He's a fool if he doesn't realize he's next on those people's blame list.

Horry County police defend police report redaction practices

Horry County police have a wide variety of tools at their disposal. They possess a $60,000 firearm simulator, a $733,000 armored vehicle and three drug-sniffing dogs named Cara, Xena and Zeke.

But perhaps the department’s most widely utilized tool is less imposing and far less costly—a $1 magic marker.

It's strange that My Horry News thinks that redacting documents in an ongoing investigation is some nefarious practice that is only happening in that area. Maintaining the integrity of an investigation to ensure justice is much more important than our need to know every little detail as it happens. It's not redacted forever, just until the investigation is completed.

I agree, but I'm not surprised. Their reporting already seemed a little lopsided in favor of the accused, PRIOR to them being left out of the recent Elvis press conference. Now? They seem to have an infantile I'll show you mentality. Somebody got their collective feelings hurt.:tantrum:

I guess I missed something about the date conversation? I can't believe the drama going on with MHN. What in the world happened to unbiased reporting? IMO of course :)

BW having a high risk pregnancy seemed like it was known by MCDR (before her mom rightfully stepped in), could this be the reason possibly for the trial continuance?
I'm not sold on the SS profile being authentic, but if it is he seemed to change his tone from the beginning of those replies to the end. They have already alluded to him being involved previously - I don't know why he would even want to speak with them.

I know we looked into H's watch in the very beginning here at WS. Anyone remember what conclusion we came to? I thought I remember seeing the minute hand at :05 but the hour hand not being very clear (could be at 10)? I remember us trying to read the radio clock too. Searching on my phone gets me nowhere.

Public records are just that. Public records.

Sure, they can redact all day day long. But, when a tax-funded public court system, elected official, local or state run agency hides, skews, or withholds public information, records and documents, I tend to get a little concerned myself.

It's not a matter of what news agency gets butt-hurt over not receiving requested public information, but how our Local and State officials do not even abide by the law and State Constitution!

I don't know about the time... but I know one person was wondering (with much intensity) if HE was wearing the watch upside down based on the location of the dial switch (or perhaps they were insinuating the photo had been altered).

FWIW---The location of the watch's dial is irrelevant because several brands place the dial on the left, and it has nothing to do with being right/left handed. The company Nixon, for example, puts the dial on the left on all of their watches. I have several & they're actually much more comfortable, as I wear watches on my left wrist.

RSBM: I think the majority of us agreed that she didn't even have the time set. Apparently, "kids these days" wear watches more as an accessory than a timepiece.

I understand your concern, but it doesn't negate my opinion of how MHN is coming across.

OT Aaron Hernandez just found guilty of 1st Degree murder with no eye witness, no video tape, no weapon, no confession. Discussion from FOX News attorney panel, Judge Napolitano, "it's not the quality of the evidence, it's the behavior that preceded the murder - classic 1st degree murder in this case". Atty Lis Wiehl, "circumstancial evidence is thought to be the poor kid on the block, not as good as direct evidence, but that's how cases are built brick by brick by the prosecution, it may take a while for the jury to get it".

The state of South Carolina must do the same thing with Heather's case, build it brick by brick.

That's what I remember, too, Surfside.
