Mr Green Jacket is the guy I posted about last nite, finding his demeanour so different from all those around him. I believe he is holding something black in his hands (okay hazarding a guess here, but it looks not unlike how one holds those radio control devices with both hands .. just from having seen a friend fly a remote-control airplane):

That is a professional camera in his hands. You can see the round lens on the original size photo.

I have concerns about the Memorial Service today.

No one has been arrested. It wasn't suicide bombers. The persons behind the bombing are still moving around undetected.

It's like fish in a barrel.
I was thinking the exact same thing.

Yeah, I think that's one of the local (Globe?) photographers. Not positive it's the same guy -- I am not good with faces -- but I think he's the one they were interviewing on WBZ (channel 7) right after the explosion and he was talking about how he wanted to help but he knew that having good photos was going to make all the difference to finding out what happened.

Videos Said to Show Clear Images of 2 Bombing Suspects

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/19/us/boston-set-to-mourn-bombing-victims.html?hp

Law-enforcement officials had not yet decided whether the authorities will release the images and appeal to the public for help, but the person said it was “more likely than not” that they would.

The official said the authorities were trying to boil down the number of people of interest in the videos and would then decide whether to ask the public’s help in locating them.
Appealing to the public would most likely put more pressure on the suspect. “He’d get nervous and turn himself in, or he could go to ground,” said Philip Mudd, a former senior C.I.A. and F.B.I. official. “But having several million people looking for him outweighs any downside.”

It's kind of hard to help unless they release that video/image of suspects. If they have video of suspects and don't know who the suspects are, they need to release videos ASAP. For all I know the suspects are buying more pressure cookers as we speak.

It was front page on the dreadful NYPost today. Awful.

That's deplorable. If they are innocent I hope they sue the hell out of the NY Post. It's one thing that reddit posts the pic online, it's another when a newspaper does it.

I am finding the reporting on HLN to be a bit humorous. They keep saying they are looking for 2 men one of which has a black backpack. Like that would stick out like a sore thumb and be a dead giveaway. Obviously Robin does not realize that hundreds of people were probably carrying a black backpack.

Can internet communities find the terrorist behind the Boston bombing?
The Internet Mystery-Solving Machine (New Yorker)
As government investigators in Boston and around the country have been working to follow the winding stream of forensic data and digital imagery toward the terrorist behind the Boston Marathon bombing, another, parallel investigation, has been happening, completely in the open, on the Internet.

That was why I was finding yesterday's witch hunt so...disingenuous, hypocritical, whatever. So many people focusing on one backpack and ignoring the dozen others in the same photo :p

I wish the media would confirm their stories first. This is worse than a he said/she said argument with the reports and back peddling.

It is really bothersome to me watching people take political sides during the investigation. I don't care if this is a single crazy white male, a crazy muslim or a purple dino named Barney. All I want is the truth, so we can get to the bottom of this nightmare and try to prevent the next attack. This is not a football game.

The media these last couple days. Good grief. I am reminded of the great Janet Malcom's first sentence in her book 'The Journalist and the Murderer,' perhaps the most famous first sentence in a non-fiction book published in the 20th century.

She's talking about something different here - specifically, the Jeffrey McDonald murders and Joe McGuinniss's role in writing his book about it, 'Fatal Vision' - but it can apply to the absolute tomfoolery of many media outlets covering the Boston case:

"Every journalist who is not too stupid or too full of himself to notice what is going on knows that what he does is morally indefensible."
#post #cnn #fox #etc.

Link to live coverage from Boston's WBZ. Still my opinion they are the best of the local stations for careful reporting:

http://boston.cbslocal.com/live-video/

I agree. Even when they were looping their video cuts on Monday and trying to find things to say, they stayed away from the wild stuff being reported on other stations. Any live news situation is going to have some mistakes, and there were a couple of instances (the cellphone shutdown rumor) where even the people in charge were mistaken, but there's a difference between being as careful as you can and correcting yourself as soon as you can, and jumping on OMGANOTHERRUMOR!

Nevermind. Rethought my post.

Me too!
There are whack jobs on all political sides.
IMO political opinions should be held at this time.

But that's JMO.
