It is really bothersome to me watching people take political sides during the investigation. I don't care if this is a single crazy white male, a crazy muslim or a purple dino named Barney. All I want is the truth, so we can get to the bottom of this nightmare and try to prevent the next attack. This is not a football game.

Voice of reason. Thank you. :blowkiss:

Bret Baier on Fox reporting that FBI briefings with select congressional representatives were also cancelled. I am confused. I understand that the task force would be reluctant to release pics or video for a variety of reasons, possible vigilante action against people who may well be innocent, tipping off POI"S etc. But I am worried about the memorial with the President attending. I don't personally believe this is a tax revolt or militia attack, but that, along with all other possibilities hasn't been ruled out. It's the anniversary of Waco and Oklahoma City. Whatever the motivation of the bomber(s), I'm afraid this could be a target. I'm all for carrying on and not giving in to terror, but it worries me.

This has been plaguing my mind. The perp(s) could be long gone from Boston planning another major event attack. I'm sure all of the law enforcement agencies have thought of it, and am sure any large events have been warned in advance. However, it is just so easy in any big crowd to do anything without notice.

It especially bothers me as I would think the perp(s) are amateur at this, and want to do it bigger and better.

What you are seeing here folks is the extreme way how social media (and the internet in general) can be a very bad thing when it comes to rumors and speculation. What's mind boggling to me is how news organizations are now running stories/pics of what is discovered on social media without any sort of verification. Lawyers are going to being having field days with character assassination lawsuits if news media continues to be careless with who they target based on what twitter/social media/message board says.

The footage hasn't been made public.

The bombs were crudely fashioned from ordinary kitchen pressure cookers packed with explosives, nails and ball bearings, investigators and others close to the case said. Investigators suspect the devices were then hidden in black duffel bags and left on the ground.

As a result, they were looking for images of someone lugging a dark, heavy bag. Investigators had appealed to the public to provide videos and photographs from the race finish line.

Trying to get caught up, but I gave up. Geesh.

Everyone is a suspect that was there, victim, helper/hero, observer. All the many thousands of people there. I'm certain that all the law enforcement agencies want to talk to every single person close to the bombs. That is thousands. Doesn't matter if they have purple skin, if the wheeled a wounded person out or applied a tourniquet, doesn't matter if the freaked and ran, stood still and did nothing, bent over crying, nothing matters except that they were there. Could have seen any tiny thing that is helpful or could have been a perp. Thousands of them, all colors, all races, all action or non-action.

Worth repeating. Plus I'm getting agita trying to catch up...

This case has made that particularly clear. Media reads here and other boards then posts speculation as news. It is very dangerous business imo.

Seems to me a big issue is that this investigation is leaking like a sieve and seemingly legitimate sources who have inside info have been jumping to conclusions as much as the media or the internet.

For example, I heard different msm outlets say yesterday that they went with the arrest report because they heard from judges at the courthouse that preparations had been made to bring an arrestee in.

I think the internet chatter has been very interesting because it really does seem like at least some of it is mirroring the FBI investigation. I wonder if the FBI got ahead of itself yesterday focusing on the two guys with backpacks, only to realize that they might not strong suspects after all.

People have been mentioning Richard Jewell, but the Feds also screwed up the anthrax investigation by naming Steven Hatfill a POI and then eventually clearing him.

Janet Napolitano just now, paraphrased: the FBI has identified two men from video surveillance that they would like to speak with. I'm not calling them suspects in the strictly legal sense, but these are individuals the FBI wants to interview. We need the public's help.

Maybe this means the video will be released?

Just saw a clip of Janet Napolitano at a Senate hearing. She said that the FBI is looking for these two men they want to talk to in video they have. Says she won't go as far as saying they are suspects, they just want to speak to them. She said they need the publics help to identify them.
Ok,so if the public hasn't seen the photos, how can we help? And does this mean despite numerous reports, LE doesn't know their names?
This is ridiculous!!

I hate to say this, by now they are long gone.

I personally believe these leaks are being done on purpose and not for vicious reasons. Govt officials have worked hand in hand with media outlets for many many many years.

WND is just simply not a legit source. I would take anything they are reporting with a HUGE grain of salt.

And why aren't the photos of those two guys being retracted?!!! Someone needs to apologize big time to them!!I heard a reporter for the Boston Herald defending the FBI's lack of presser because they are busy investigating. They should just have their spokesperson at least come out and issue a statement that these two men are not the guys they are looking for!! They did it for the Saudi guy,now do it for these two!!

Sadly in some cases that's true. But the press's responsibility is not to "work with" the government. It is to report facts, to inform citizens, to protect liberty.

After yesterday's emotional rollercoaster, I'm still tired and numb. I'm still trying to find a reason why the FBI permitted the internet to go "wild". Did they sit back and watch how people reacted to what was being published/shown. If my picture was being shown on the internet with negative comments in regards to maybe being somehow involved, I would have called my attorney or 911. The way this whole fiasco is playing out leaves me with so many questions.

I hope the FBI will step up today and make a statement. This is an agency that has been given the investigative responsibility. They should be guiding the national through this investigation.

They need to show us and the victims respect and we need to respect their ability to thoroughly investigate this act of terrorism.

But they need to step up and SAY something.

Saying someone with a white hat and a black duffle or backpack may be the alleged suspect is like saying a pink haired lady with a shuffling gait stole the last cookie from the dining room table in a nursing home with 1000 residents.....JMO

A moment of silence for Boston and this melting pot, the USA.

I totally agree. They are sooo slanted. I only responded to the post...but keep in mind what I posted from myself is directly derived from the Official Saudi Embassy site.

I don't know what they are waiting for, unless they need to have check points in place to keep them from getting away? It really does not make sense to not release the images. Let's face it when LE wants someone found they have media plaster the face of the alleged suspect all over the news. I do feel that this afternoon (after the service, memorial) we will see those images.

Thus far, with yesterday's sieve-like hoopla of press leaks and the lack of a presser, all this tells me is that LE is wildly disorganized and groping in the dark. I'd like to be an optimist and think this is all "planned," but I really don't think that's the case.
