And you know, whether this Saudi guy has immigration issues or not, he has now been inextricably linked to this bombing, even though LE has REPEATEDLY stated that he isn't a suspect, but a spectator, a VICTIM injured in the bombing.

So why are we continuing to post about him in a thread about the bombing?

LOL I have no more "fascination" with this guy than all of you who pinned the two "foreigners."

Just curious what he was carrying the flags in because I haven't seen any photos of him before the blasts. Oh and the FBI asking for his clothes is just interesting. How many other people were asked?

They asked for everybody's external clothing so they could test it for residue from the blast, which would help identify what was in the bomb and potentially how it was made.

Was the media 'lying'? No, they were wrong.

Or, if you want to be more generous, they were reporting accurately on the mass hysteria and racial profiling that is going on. Why did the media report about the Saudi suspect? Because a random person tackled a victim who looked like a foreigner, and handed him over to the police and the media as a a terrorist. Why did the media report that these two guys in the crowd were 'potential suspects'? Because random people on the internet (hi, that's us!) did the same thing, for the same reasons. They look like foreigners, and people could imagine bombs in their backpacks.

As soon as they hit the mainstream media, they were discredited. But some people are still demanding evidence that they aren't terrorists? Was there ever any evidence that they were?

This is a fact: We are 0 for 3 on picking terrorists out of the crowd. We shouldn't be turning to random innocent people to prove themselves, we should be calling out the media -- and ourselves -- for getting it wrong.

The whole 'heroic response to tragedy' thing is seriously starting to wear thin in the face of mass hysteria and we've already milked cowboy hat guy for all he's worth. At this point, people can either shrug and start scanning the crowd for another foreigner with a backpack, or take some effing responsibility and step up.

Thank you wasn't enough. I've had many a case bring tears to my eyes but this is the first thread that did.

On Fox and Friends they finally showed the picture from the NY Post. In the previous hour they chose not to. According to their live reporter, Molly Lines, LE is looking for these two guys. She said they even know their names and just want to question them. I'm not sure why that hasn't happened yet. Seems to me if people here were able to find these guys on Facebook, the FBI would be done with them and tell the media to knock it off. If these men are innocent, I blame the media for irresponsibility but also LE for allowing these men to be slandered. How much would it take for them to make a statement that these men have been cleared?

Wnd.com? Where they are advertising, in the middle of this item, the book "The Manchurian President", which is described as detailing Obama's shocking plans for the next four years!!!11

We've seen that CNN and Fox, while considered MSM, have been bad enough with the reporting. Can we try to stay away from blatantly slanted "news" sites like this?

The reason I posted it was because it quoted Reuters and Fox. Are those not reputable?

Finally caught up. I made a post yesterday concerning trying to figure out all these pics and it still holds true today. You can't look at 2-3 pics of a person standing there and somehow if it appears that person doesn't have a backpack on him/her, it's the suspect. There is no context to any of these pics and simply because some guy draws a red circle on the ground and then shows two random people standing in that same spot (at who knows when, was any time given to the pics of the two men last night?), then speculation runs the gambit on how they are the suspects.

Media is not going to leak out the pics of who LE is looking at or else you are going to have 100 different people getting figured because they 'look' like the suspect. I understand everyone wants to help, I just refuse to believe that reddit/4chan (lol) of all places has more footage of who did this than LE/FBI. The day 4chan cracks the case one on of these terrorist situation as far as 'who did it' is when we need to seriously question the competentcy of the FBI.

Agreed. Did they take down the picture of the woman's behind that was circled with the word's "da bomb" yet?

IMO? Fox isn't reputable, no. At this point CNN's rep is pretty much in the gutter as well.

If I were posting, I'd go right to the MSM source. If I saw Reuters quoted, I'd find the item on their page, if its even relevant.

Why link to wnd.com, where we have to be bombarded with ads for THE MANCHURIAN PRESIDENT, or sidebars showing FEMA COFFINS.

I'm sorry, anything on a site that carries "news" and ads like that carries zero value for many of us.

And not only that, but wnd's headline still calls him person of interest, when, as I've been posting for three days now, LE long ago clarified he was NOT a POI.

IMO, there seems to be some what of a bias going on at that source.

I think you are right about plugging in to the actual source of the story rather than the filter of the other media.

At this stage, I probably would question anything coming out of MSM when they use 'sources' unless it's coming straight from LE in an interview or press conference.

Yesterday was a pretty bad day for journalism industry.

Many blogs and opinion pieces have been linked which is not usual at WS. I just saw a link to Salon as an example.

Salon does news as well as opinion, and the article is heavily sourced, if you didn't read it. It is a timeline, if sorts, almost a cut and paste of items from CNN yesterday to show when the reporting went wrong.

It was not an opinion piece, it did not name a victim as a POI and continue to spread his name an personal info, and it was not from a sensationalistic site.

I agree. Yesterday was awful. I think I shall follow the same self-imposed rule.

I think the media has been very poorly sourced and I do think that there is some manipulation going on of them, whether by trick or by design. It is hard for me to understand the wildfire aspect of everything, although I understand that everyone wants a scoop and that the story is incredibly high profile.

I expect that LE knows at this point whether we have a home grown terrorist group or international. If nothing has been said about this subject by the un named sources, I think that is very provocative.

A note on Reddit about the two men a lot of us were posting about (one w/ backpack, one w/ blue jacket and messenger bag)

http://www.reddit.com/r/findbostonb...wo_males_that_the_media_have_claimed_the_fbi/

We are not waiting for them to be officially cleared, one of the men has contacted the police to try and clear his name. Please understand that the FBI now knows who they are, so our posts now have no purpose. If the situation changes then people can make new posts. It's not our job to keep their information out there, people are innocent until proven guilty - not the other way around.

Apparently one of their Facebook pages was released, and you can see multiple posts of him freaking out because he saw himself on multiple websites being discussed as a possible suspect.

*just saw this was discussed pages back, sorry for any reposting*

Thank you.

These two, one of whom is a minor, had their personal info publicized on reddit and elsewhere yesterday too.

I hate, hate that this witch hunt hysteria is going on over something that happened in our backyard here. Mass is such a diverse place, and it pains me to think about people being made to feel persecuted because of their ethnicity, race, appearance, etc.

Since quite a few posters here argued the two of them looked white and not foreign, seems they were "persecuted" because of their back packs.
