Medical up-date (per a personal phone call!): unfortunately, mortality rate is anticipated to climb probably by at least 2, post-surgical.

Next up-date scheduled @8:30 pm (but plan on 8:36 'cause WHDH needs it to be delayed! (per a scanner & relative relay!))

apparently Homeland Security is now calling this a "coordinated event"....

While the devices are considered crude, they are calling the attack a sophisticated and coordinated event.

Frances Fragos Townsend , former Bush Homeland Security advisor says they don’t know yet, if it is domestic or international terrorism. An individual can be responsible for an act of terrorism. Terrorism is a defined act that is not “accidental” such as a gas explosion.

President Obama did not say “this is a terrorist attack”

I read the 8 year old was a boy spectator?

Does Mass have the death penalty?

It would very likely be considered a federal crime, and the federal government does use the death penalty.

Yeah....uhhh...this is the DEFINITION of TERRORISM but he never said the word at all. It is sooooo obvious but Obama couldn't manage to use that word!

I guess we need to figure out who will be charged before he will be comfortable using hot words like that.

Seriously? Let us please remember that innocent people lost their lives today. Including an 8-year-old child. We have no idea whether this is or is not domestic or international. However... our President is not to blame for the actions of this person/s. Same as President Bush was not to blame for 9/11. Yes... it was terrorism in the purest form... but, it is way too early to even put blame on anyone or any group. I get that emotions are high... it is shocking and senseless. Terrorism comes from many places... even our own Country. It is not the time or place for this discussion. Prayers for all the victims in Boston.

The London marathon is soon, right?

Heard on one of the stations on my way home not sure if it was CNN or FOX I was flipping around, said London was beefing up security after hearing of this.

Just heard from son's friends mom, our eight year old friend is safe. :)

So bittersweet, being glad it is not him... And so sad for the little one and his family that did die.

I'm not really sure when, why or how all the negative mud slinging started but its pretty senseless. None of us get paid for our opinions here which makes everyone's opinion just as valuable as the next. I've always considered this place a great way to express our feelings, thoughts, theories AND opinions. Some agree and yet some don't...but don't...respectfully. IJS

This weekend I believe. Going to be an anxious few days for the capital, as there will no doubt be those out to cause trouble during Baroness Thatcher's funeral on Wednesday.

Thatcher's funeral is coming up as well.

My blood is running cold at the thought that the Boston attack was organised internationally, because of the implications of what the next week could bring.

Come on guys, this day has put us all on edge, lets stick with facts, we will get to the truth.

It would very likely be considered a federal crime, and the federal government does use the death penalty.

Also a ce as to whether this is domestic or international terrorism is if we see the FBi taking prime involvement and NOT the counterterrorism agencies.

Emotions are high. We all have our opinions and suspicions, each as sure to be as varied as we ourselves are. Reminding myself too to keep my temper and words in check!

From your post:

Frances Fragos Townsend , former Bush Homeland Security advisor says they don’t know yet, if it is domestic or international terrorism. An individual can be responsible for an act of terrorism. Terrorism is a defined act that is not “accidental” such as a gas explosion.

Terrorism is defined in the Code of Federal Regulations as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives” (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85).

http://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/publications/terrorism-2002-2005

This was obviously terrorism, the objective was to "terrorize" random individuals in order to have an impact on the masses or possibly the government. They weren't on a spree kill, they weren't settling grudges, it was terrorism.

Saudi national is the PoI - CNN

News on TV reported nearly 45 minutes that Saudi National did not take credit for attack. He did mention how he felt good for the poor? Strange statement to make.

Then again that is a TV report. I'll try to get another source online to reconfirm.

Also a ce as to whether this is domestic or international terrorism is if we see the FBi taking prime involvement and NOT the counterterrorism agencies.

The FBI is the principal domestic counter-terrorism agency.

Both agencies work together. We also may never know who is taking the lead.

It could be an American working for a foreign entity which would have the FBI and CIA working on it.

I can promise, all of the IC (intel community) is working on this right now. ALL of them. ;) I imagine OSINT is crazy right now....
