They also make black backpacks. This could have come off the backpack with the bomb inside it. MOO

Just looking at the backpacks on their website, all the zippers on the current bags look different. This one must be from an older bag.

Maybe more like this.

Looks like the fabric pull goes through the zipper making it appear to be a similar style of zipper to the one in/from the bomb.

Considering that in one of the photos someone circled a women's butt and wrote da bomb I am not going to believe anything they say or post on that site. MOO

If you look at the relation of the flags, I think he is meaning that is where the bomb actually exploded.

Note to self when attending a public event:

1. Always wear the right clothes. Be careful not to wear black, the color of evil. This is suspicious.

2. Pay attention to accessories. Bags, sunglasses, hats, hoodies... all suspicious. The absence of sunglasses or head covering may also be suspicious. Choose carefully.

3. IMPORTANT: constantly keep your eyes on the event or whatever everyone else is looking at. Don't look left for a restroom, or look down at something you stepped on. Don't bend over babies in strollers. Don't look around to try and find other members of your party. Do not look at the other people in your party when you converse, as this might make you look away from the event you are supposed to be looking at. Just try to guess using your peripheral vision where eateries and other destinations might be. Better to be safe than sorry.

4. Don't move from one area to another. This is suspicious.

5. If you carry a bag, do not sit it on the ground, or switch it from shoulder to shoulder. Never take it off and place it in front of you. This may be suspicious. I repeat, the bag may never be black. (Black=evil.)

6. When possible, dress in costume. Like Gumby, or Ronald McDonald. This way, in the event of an act of terrorism, people on websites can rule you out immediately.

7. It's best to be of NO nationality. If possible, blend your skin tone to one that mostly matches the race that commits no crimes. Try to not be too light, or too dark. This, too, is suspicious.

Granted, I know this isn't a laughing matter, but after I viewed that link from 4Chan, I just couldn't help myself. I am glad that people are looking, but some of those circles and arrows are a little much. I am looking at the photos just like everyone else, but blowing up pictures and circling faces that happen to be looking away from the event isn't fair. I'm sure if I would have been there, I would have done something stupid looking to call attention to myself. That, and I look good in black.

ETA: One of those guys with a "sag in his bag" also has an orange juice and what looks like a tin of Altoids in the side pocket.

The problem with a lot of this is there is no context to a lot of these pictures, we are just seeing one here and there. In order to determine anything, there needs to be a series of frames, tracking a persons movements. Circling a guy standing in a crowd with a backpack that just so happens to somewhat match the exploded backpack probably isn't going to lead anywhere. There seem to be a lot of black backpacks in the area that day.

This is probably the point of whoever did this. The goal is to carry out what you want to do without looking suspicious or out of place. Whoever did this blended in with the crowd, looks like probably anyone else standing there.

Exactly. Show me ONE picture of someone carrying a duffle bag that doesn't have a "sag" in it. It's impossible. Even empty duffle bags sag in the middle.

I can't stop seeing the photos of the victims in my head. My heart is so heavy for the families of those lost and for the ones who live with the scars of this attack.

Prayers for all.

I was upset the first night.. I was feeling guilty for having legs.
Spent a lot of time looking at pics yesterday, so am rather desensitized to it now.

Also do we know how the bombs were detonated. Was it via cellphone? If that's the case, the person could be miles away to detonate it. They could have been at an airport getting ready to fly away.

They said the bombs were detonated by a "simple" timer.

The FBI is focused on people carrying bags and backpacks because they found evidence that a bag or backpack was used.

They are focused on people moving through the blast area before the explosion because, well, that's what bombers do when they place a bomb. Put it down, move along.

They are looking for people with bags, then without bags because non-bombers don't just leave their bags behind and bombers do.

They are looking for heavy sagging bags vs. light bags, which are different, because bombs are heavy and the bags they are carried in sag more than bags with light cargo. See here: Gravitation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They are looking for people who look "different" because bombers are different: they are planting bombs while others are not.

But don't worry, I'm sure they are passing on potential suspects who are carrying the magic altoids and orange juice, who's fresh breath and healthy immune systems will make them impossible to detect and prosecute.

"Thanks button not enough." Too good!

What in the WORLD is the basis for this? :banghead:

I think it's like looking at the parents of a missing child. In this case there is physical proximity to the crime and the man's history. The FBI has to look at everybody. Everybody is a suspect.

There has been "substantial progress" made in the investigation into the Boston Marathon bombings, CNN reports. A law enforcement source has told the network's John King that there has been "significant developments in the case. No details.

Ah that explains the cheap batteries and plastic housing with wire.

Also noticed the daily mail article shows and tells how pressure cooker bombs work.
