The ‘sock’ mask is suggested by the AARP. There is an easy to follow video of how to ‘construct’ the mask using a tightly knitted sock plus at least one layer of tightly woven fabric inside. One thing I would change is the recommendation of folding the inside fabric into a small square. Instead it should also cover the area of the mask firmly and securely. MOO
If you read the comments underneath the article you’ll see that
many people believed this mask would be ineffective. Since the heel of a sock wears first a used sock might be too thin to be of value. Buying new socks could be as expensive as buying a well-constructed mask.
Each person should evaluate the AARP’s suggestions to determine if they have value for them. I posted this mask to the main thread as a no-sew option that didn’t include metal. It was moved by a moderator to the mask thread.
