Maybe her heart is fine...maybe she had previously been medicated for a problem she did not have.

And maybe her heart isn't fine. In which case taking her off beta blocker is extremely irresponsible, to say the least.

According to a press release from the family, the department cited "unspecified reasons" and made the refusal late Saturday afternoon the state department of Health and Human Services gave the visit "serious consideration" to be part of a reunification plan between the Pelletier parents and their daughter Justina. DCF operates under the Health and Human Services sector.

Linda Pelletier released two statements in video form as a reaction to the department's decision to not allow a visit on Sunday.

DCF responded to the Pelletier family's claims on Sunday by releasing the following statement:

"We are happy that the family was able to participate in their regular weekly visit with Justina on Friday. This weekend, we are working with Justina and her family to ensure Justina will be able to make a successful transition from Wayside to the facility closer to her family and home in Connecticut. On Monday, she will arrive at JRI, where she will receive medical, educational and rehabilitation services. The facility has arranged for her family to welcome and greet her once she arrives," the statement read in part.

Unsurprising, given there was a protest planned. Wonder if people still showed up?

If DCF was actually trying to transfer her closer to home, they should have picked another facility. Her new facility is on the border of CT with MA.
It's not close to her home at all.
I do think DCF is playing games. I don't think they had any right to remove her to begin with.
And I don't think they want to admit any wrongdoing.

I think support for the family is dwindling. I doubt very much the protest amounted to much of anything at all.

A protest is held every Saturday until Justina returns home, there were 20 people yesterday, and some regulars weren't able to make it. Today Justina will be moved to the remote rural facility right outside of MA.

I was wrong, there were 40 there yesterday. 20 is the average on previous protests. There might be a large rally organized by a local radio host next Saturday.

Wow, I bet the other patients and their families are so appreciative.

When will the parents comprehend they are hurting, not helping their goal of reunification?

I note also that the number of anti-psychiatry/psychology loons are increasing in number and volume on the FB page, with people actually saying that mental illness does not exist, it is a made up thing.

And we wonder why mental illness does not get taken seriously in this country.

Far cry from the thousand they were hoping for...

More people show up to volunteer at the greyhound adoption place I volunteer at...

IMo they won't so long as they are being encouraged in their antics by Rev Mahoney and Staver's group and all the other hangers on looking to milk this for all its worth.

Poor kid will never get to go home.

She will be just another child in the system that ages out because her parents can not get themselves together enough to work their case plan.

Another welcome!

And I agree he is exaggerating on the distance. In fact It's very good they're moving her now. Traffic at 84/Mass Pike is already getting even busier as everyone starts heading up for the cape this time of year. It'll be a much closer drive.

After more than a year under state supervision in Massachusetts, a teenage girl at the center of lengthy custody battle has finally returned to her home state of Connecticut, according to a new report.

*

The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, to which Pelletier was remanded in February 2013, issued a statement on Sunday reacting to the news that Justina would be transfered.

The facility has arranged for her family to welcome and greet her once she arrives,"

the statement read in part.
