Patrick was once known as a civil rights activist. Can you imagine how quickly he’d leap into action if Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were being denied the ability to practice his Muslim faith?

And yet Patrick won’t pick up the phone to ensure that a harmless Catholic girl can practice hers.

There is something very wrong with Massachusetts.

I don’t know, and neither does Gov. Deval Patrick. But either way, treating Justina worse than Dzhokhar Tsarnaev makes no sense. And it’s not just refusing to let her see family without armed guards present.

Armed guards? Wow ,the threats the family made (or that have been made on their behalf) must have been pretty extreme.

I expect the terrorist's sisters haven't threatened to kidnap him from where he is.

Do these people believe that Tsarnaev is free to visit whichever Muslim services wherever, whenever he desires?

This is hilarious, because I'd venture to say that a vast majority of Massachusetts are Catholics. Certainly in the metro Boston area. If not practicing, then certainly culturally very Catholic.

I think if there were actually some violation going on here, you'd see more people than just the usual right wing suspects up in arms about it.

Wow, is Michael Graham gunning to take over Howie "the towel heads blew up that OK building!" Carr's position as token right-wing motor mouth of Massachusetts?

(Yes, that's a quote. Howie was POSITIVE that "towel heads" blew up OKC. Look him up, got a string of racist, wrongheaded pronoun cements to his name over the last few decades)

There are now at least 35 other legislators who also want to know how much money is being spent on the Pelletier matter. They are correct to question the competence and propriety of a State agency and a judge who needed over a year, as well as dozens of expensive legal and medical professionals to help them decide a single case involving a non-state resident child with two fit and feisty parents.

As a Massachusetts Democrat, I think that perhaps from here on out, instead of trying to mitigate any liability Massachusetts may face for botching the Pelletier case, the Governor and the State's child protection agencies should seize the opportunity to correct their mistake and the fit and feisty parents who know Justina best can take her home and assume responsibility for her care. Their failure to do so is making us all look bad.

I don't agree. I think Lou Pelliteir is a truly brave man and a wonderful father coming to the aid of his child.

Coming to the aid of his child? Brave?

How has he helped? How has his stance helped his daughter at all?

It hasn't.

What he's doing hasn't helped at all, only he's too enthralled by the media glare and attention to notice or actually care.

I'm not sure I can trust anything in that HuffPo article. It cites from the investigative piece the Globe did. And we have been told that the Globe is biased against the parents.

Justina might have been home for a while now if the parents had been willing to have a "meaningful dialogue to work towards reunification".

How do you know she's declining in custody? To hear Lou tell it, she should be dead by now...yet she's not even hospitalized.

She was kept in the PSY ward so long because her own parents thwarted every attempt to move her out to a less restrictive environment.

"Treatment" for Mito is very simple and remains in place.

Her previous drug regimen included many drugs that were felt by this team to be medically unnecessary. She was over medicated and there zero coordination or oversight in her care.

IMO

The beta blocker triggered my hinky meter. I doubt Tufts prescribed it.

Lol! The liberal media hasn't given coverage?! Do you live in the Boston area? The Globe is THE liberal paper in the state and has given this case extensive coverage!

I meant unbiased coverage.

BOSTON —A threat was made Friday to kidnap Justina Pelletier, 15, who is at the center of a custody controversy that has drawn nationwide attention, Massachusetts State Police said

State police troopers helped escort Pelletier to her weekly visit with her parents after someone contacted the transportation company that drives the teen and threatened to kidnap her along the route.
...
David Procopio, spokesman for the State police, said that there have been about a dozen threatening messages, which have come through email, telephone and social media.

So that's why there are armed guards.
Let that be a lesson to all. If you want a teenager to be able to see her family without armed guards present, do not make threats.

A few questions, what's a child's life worth? What is the limit?
Show me the price tag that is too much!

I would think a judge would need and want expensive medical professionals unbiased input, after all, a judge isn't a medical doctor.

The problems with Connecticut's unwillingness to pay, despite the interstate compact agreement, would require some outside legal expertise to lay out some legal options.

You don't feel that was necessary either?

Making such a threat is a crime and I'm betting the State police are going to investigate and prosecute. Listen closely and the sound you will hear are the family's volunteer lawyers quietly backing toward the exits.

These extremists are trying to make my state a battle ground in their whackdoodle culture wars. I hope you're right and they back quietly and QUICKLY towards the doors. Go away!

Justina was taken to a church on Saturday, but not with the parents. She was allowed a Sunday visit but not in church. The parents had requested Justina be allowed to attend Easter Sunday church service with them. Saturday is the first time Justina has been in a church since she was taken, and also she was denied a visit from a priest in the hospital. There is no other reason for them to keep her totally isolated from others except for protecting themselves from what she will divulge to others about the way they treat her. They won't let her speak publicly? Why? She hasn't even spoken to the judge. Why would he not want to hear from her?

So let me get this straight, the child attended church services AND her parents managed to get TWO visits last weekend.

Extremists usually do lose their supporters when they decide to cross into crimes that are routinely prosecuted. Anybody dumb enough to send an email threat is going to spend some time incarcerated.

That's not my quote. My quote pointed out the article that was released on Easter Sunday at first said she was not allowed to visit her family on Easter and then contradicted itself by saying she was "miraculously" allowed a visit on Easter Sunday. Further on down, it asked for a donation.

This case has nothing to do with religion and her family of extremist supporters are preying on those who actually believe it does. I think such tactics are disgusting.

Omg! Watch the video on the Facebook page!
Lou is a hoot!

The FBI told him... they could have made arrests for kidnapping, but didn't want to get involved....

She's a tortured lab rat.

He's not done, and never will be...he wants to spearhead a new law to address this epidemic...and champion the cause.

It's well worth the listen!!! Lmao! I haven't even listened to the entire interview yet.. Just the short version on Facebook.
