Family booed on flight bringing home soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Best info seems to be the announcement made mentioned "a special military family". The body was not on the flight.

IMHO, the booing was directed at the delay, not the Gold Star Family.

Well, IMO, if an announcement was made, and they booed, it was completely and utterly rude of them. And my husband and I fly first class almost always unless it's a short plane ride, because he has hip issues and needs to be able to stretch his legs. I can promise you, after an announcement regarding a military family, we would never boo because of the delay. It's called manners. The people who booed are severely lacking. I've missed flight connections because a member of staff overslept, if you have connecting flights close in time, it's a gamble you accept when you book.

ETA: if any of these people missed a flight because of this delay, I guarantee the airlines would give them a voucher for their troubles.

O/t. Getting a voucher is a huge hassle.

In the end it's up to us, the viewing/reading public, not to continue to spread these stories. If this article has done nothing else, I hope it's to enlighten us to always take media articles with a huge grain of salt and check it out before posting and spreading it.

The click-baiters win when people take what's written and not find out what's true for themselves.

As an example, I've tried to teach my mother and aunt not to spread those fake warning emails around (which are always urban legends that have been debunked a hundred times). Many times I've showed them the real information and begged them to stop forwarding those emails just because they got copied on them from one of their fellow elderly friends. They never seem to get it or remember.

It reminds me once again that people are terribly gullible and manage to remain so despite being given real information. After a dozen times I gave up and eventually created an email filter to automatically send all "Fwd" or "Warning" emails from certain relatives straight to the trash bin.

Not really. Last month my flight got cancelled entirely, called the 800 number for AA, and in about three weeks had two vouchers show up in my mail. I seriously think the society we live considers minor inconveniences to be massive issues. Imagine 150 years ago the hassles they faced. We have more food than we can eat, flights that can cross the country in hours, computers in our hands, heaven forbid we have to wait to get off an airplane without showing our disdain by booing. Seriously. We are spoiled and we still complain.

Lucky you, That has not been my experience with several flights where planes have broken down. One with Delta, they lied. Said it was weather. But a saavy traveler knew how to ask and found out it was equipment failure. Won't go into the rest of the nightmare after travelling for three days and then to have further hassles with the airline. Yes, it is a tiny problem. But getting a voucher is not that easy.
