it bothers me that they mentioned reaching out to Al Sharpton. What does he have to do with this situation? This is NOT a racial issue..is it??????

Shame on the lawyer, the parents and the judge for allowing this nightmare to continue........No on is helping anything by allowing these parents delusions that this child is gonna be ok.....This is sad, troublesome, and horrifying to me, how far are they gonna allow these parents to go.......

If they truly have a new facity lined up for her, why won't the family cooperate with Children's? Surely they understand that there are steps they need to take to move her, and those steps include liaising with the current facility.

Children's will NOT turn the vent off if they have proof that Jahi is being moved to another facility. They wouldn't do it. So there is no need for a temporary restraining order if the family complies with protocol and informs Children's with the information they're seeking.

There is no other facility and there is not going to be another facility. Imo, the issue at hand here is the family's view on brain death. The hospital is following CA law regarding the legal requirements to declare a patient brain dead. No amount of fighting or legal maneuvering is going to coerce the hospital into not following state law.

The battle should be with changing the law and in this case it would probably be unlikely CA would reverse the law regarding determinig someone brain dead.

Denial comes in many forms. It is not uncommon for anger to be used to avoid grief. It is a whole lot easier to be angry than it is to grieve. It's heartbreaking to see those around Jahi's mother enable her anger rather than walk with her through the grief of losing her daughter with dignity.

That said I am praying for all involved.

I think we all know why it was extended and it has nothing to do with the law or ethics.

I've thought about Jahi almost every moment of every day while looking at my own children. I'm saddened that her family doesn't feel ready to let her go.

We need to tell our loved ones it's okay to leave when it's their time. We need to be ready to face those truths whether it's our own time as well.

I won't pretend to understand what Jahi's mother & family is going through. I can only hope that if a time like that should ever come that I have the strength in my heart and soul to do the right thing for my loved one.

G-d willing, Jahi will pass from this earth on her own, and her family won't have to go through the agony of watching her taken off life support.

Honestly with how much trouble that family's been giving the hospital I would be surprised if they even let them in.

She is THEIR daughter and they have every right to be with her. Every right.
No matter what "trouble" they caused.

Seems like that might be an obvious place for the family to call and beg to intercede since they have already accepted a brain dead patient before. But I don't think that is a good precedent for any hospital or facility to establish.



OT to Jahi but for those who wish to know more about Baby Mariah. In Mariah's case,(in the 1990's) her dad had shook her causing her brain death so of course he wouldn't want the plug pulled. Mom was lawyer who did not believe dad did it even though he confessed. Dad was a anesthesiologist. Cardinal OConnor interceded and go a catholic hospital to accept where she died shortly thereafter. Autopsy confirm shaken baby syndrome and dad was convicted and served 4 years. He and the mom are still together.

Sealey said the family took video of Jahi responding when her mother touched and talked to her. He also said a pediatrician examined her and said she was not dead.

Me too.

It saddens me to see them vilified. They are going through hell I'm sure.

I just can't imagine. I try to imagine myself in their shoes and when I do all I feel is the horrendous desperation they must be feeling.

I respectfully disagree. This situation is causing a LOT of hurt, pain and grief to many people. Not least Jahi's siblings and the families of other patients at the hospital. It could even be deadly for another child if the ICU bed is needed and is unavailable because Jahi is there.

I need to stop hoping that people will read between the lines when I post, and say things more bluntly. Of course there is no facility. If there was, there would be no need for the restraining order. Of course the family is making it up as they go along.

If the transfer will take place after 5 PM, then there is a need for a restraining order.
