This video dec 16. has Mom, Dad and uncle. Reporter says uncle just told her that family will be coming to the hospital through the night to say goodbye and that they would be looking for an attorney.
JMO I have posted three videos of the family speaking. There is a stark difference in what the family is saying before and after they spoke to the attorney. Especially when the uncle throws out the differences in amounts of money they can get from the hospital after speaking with the attorney . JMO

I was just reading some of Jahi's uncle's instagram comments and such. My my, he is surely full of himself. He refers to the Dolan as "my lawyer". He has lots of pics of HIMSELF being interviewed and stuff and says to Dolan "me and you shook up the world", posts a open comment (as a status update) to Russel Simmons thanking him for listening to "my voice", not even mentioning Jahi.

He is basking in the attention and making sure everyone knows how important he is (or thinks he is). This is his 15 minutes of fame and he is going for it.

But she isn't brain injured. She's brain dead.

Thank you!! I wondered why they keep saying 'brain injured'. What is the injury? ty

Thank you for this.

I thought this must have been the case. My children have had the comment "name is an asset to our class" on their report cards. It then went on to describe positive qualities and why they were valued as members of the class.

:seeya:You're welcome.

Statement Regarding The Jahi Case
New Beginnings and the Brendan House are facilities that are about preserving life and treating brain injured patients with care and dignity. We do encourage every citizen to take the time to educate themselves more clearly on the issues of what brain death is and what it is not. This child has been defined as a deceased person yet she has all the functional attributes of a living person despite her brain injury. We encourage every American citizen to learn what their rights as patients truly are especially in dire circumstances.

Angela Clemente & Associates and a skilled team of experts along with Attorney Chris Dolan are handling all aspects of Jahi's case. Ms. Clemente will notify me later this afternoon about providing an additional statement. Thank you for your concern about this little angel who deserves a chance to be cared for with dignity and respect.

www.nbli.org

This sort of misinformation from NB, msm, the family, etc etc is making me insane! All the functional attributes of a living person? Um, only with a ventilator. This is technology, not life. Regardless of anyone's opinions on whether brain death is true death, there is no denying that her heart would stop without that ventilator. I just want to issue a massive PSA or something and make these people stop!

we are only privy to one side of the story

I fully support CHO telling Jahi's family that Jahi is a declared brain dead body, because it's what she is. Medically & legally . . . at this time

CHO and any facility is not callous in reality. They are just doing their job IMHO

So if only they had called her by her name when they properly disconnected the vent within 24 hours of her death. None of this would be happening, and they would not have been callous. I'm sorry. I can't abide that my world can be dictated by that type of emotional fiction. Whether or not the hospital acted precisely the way the family would like them to. Dead is dead is dead

eta: sorry I quoted you, krimekat. This was addressing the OP, obviously.

I have no problem with them telling her she is brain dead. What I have a problem with is continuing to rub it in their faces by referring to her the way they have instead of her name.

I agree that we have only heard one side. I'd like to hear both sides and find the truth that lies somewhere in the middle of those two sides. CHO may have done nothing wrong. They may have done everything they possibly could to save this child. I just feel they haven't handled the public situation very well. I'm sure they are incredibly frustrated; but, they still need to respond professionally and take the high road. I would have a lot more respect for them and probably be more apt to trust them if they hadn't been so offensive.

FWIW, Sadly, I don't think Jahi will be coming out of this.

We can agree to disagree on our personal opinions. It just makes me so sad to constantly read so much hate towards a family suffering an unimaginable tragedy ... and an innocent 13 year old girl. Not meaning you or anyone on this site specifically ... just the general attitude that has emerged online.

Yoda, thank you so much for linking all of the interviews! Honestly, if they have hopes of winning anything, they need to keep the uncle silenced. Actually, they *all* need to be quiet.

Spending their energy coming to terms with Jahi's death would be much more beneficial for everyone, and might even lessen the very negative comments they've been receiving much more of lately. JMO!

Regarding use of her name rather than the body, the corpse, etc...I don't know, I think I side with CHO. The family has been in denial. It seems harsh but we don't know how they've referred to her within the hospital, and it's easy to see how much misinformation is out there. I understanding using those terms for clarity's sake. Especially in court. In law school they teach you to always refer to your client by name and the opposing side by descriptor - plaintiff or defendant. Humanize your client and not the other side. That's just reality in an oppositional system. JMO and 2 cents! I just don't see it as entirely callous or antagonistic. I personally don't think CHO has acted disrespectfully. MOO

I agree with you. You could also tell how personally some of the staff there are taking this when that Doctor choked up during his statement on Friday. These are not uncaring, callous people, IMO.

and more so when the status of the deceased is precisely the issue in the case. If you had a person that wasn't disputed to be deceased, as an attorney, you'd unapologetically call him the decedent, no? Not mr. jones or mr. smith. No difference whatsoever in this case. jmo

I don't have a lot of time before I have to dash to grocery but I've been digging around the Allyson Scerri name and have found some stuff. She is named as the President of a company called Biodex. Some of the other people on this list cross-reference on Linkedin and other business sites correctly. Again, I don't have much time but can link to sources later.

http://www.hoovers.com/company/Biodex_Medical_Systems_Inc/rrhcsci-1-1njhy2.html

Although the company website doesn't show her name

http://www.biodex.com/

It's in Shirley in Long Island and seems to have a turnover of 35 million a year.

What do you think?

I have also been seeing a lot of stuff linking Angela Clemente's "team" eg Dr Delfina with the Hyperbaric System that is also housed at the New Beginnings Centre. I have them bookmarked but have to dig them out for you. I may be able to do it tonight.

Why are both of those websites dated 2014 at the bottom of the page. Were they just created?

Mmhmm... digital footprints here, there, and everywhere. Including at the hospital, where some have claimed reports have been altered

I have not heard anyone making hateful remarks about Jahi herself She is indeed innocent. And I agree where it could be interpreted that the hospital has been insensitive using the word body or corpse. Like I had said before medical ethicists should come up with a new word for those that are brain dead but a heart is kept beating by technology. If they refer to as Jahi in the sense that she is still alive, it causes confusion but I could see where it is much more sensitive to the family to just refer to her by her name.

However, the hate has been on both sides. These were human beings taking care of Jani who are now being called murderers and accused of covering up their actions for Jani's organs and/or mistakes, they ignored her when she was bleeding, they put her "on death row" and now they are "starving" her and they are deciding when Jahi is "dead", not the family. Spent a little time on twitter entering Jahi's name and most of the unkind and cruel comments are made by people villifying the hospital and its staff. You will see what I mean.
