home depot switched all its employees that are not full time to O-care...

I thought it sounded like she was full-time. I doubt part-time even had medical benefits before Obamacare.

Doctors and a judge have declared her brain dead and said there's no chance Jahi will come back to life.

"Overall, unfortunate circumstances in 13-year-old with known, irreversible brain injury and now complete absence of cerebral function and complete absence of brainstem function, child meets all criteria for brain death, by professional societies and state of California," Dr. Paul Fisher, chief of pediatric neurology at Stanford University, said in a medical report on the case.

Medical ethicists, meanwhile, say the high-profile case fuels a misperception: that "brain death" is somehow not as final as cardiac death, even though, by definition, it is.

...

Under the agreement reached Friday, the hospital will release the girl to the Alameda County coroner, a move that will officially classify the girl as dead, before the family can transfer Jahi elsewhere.
“It is hard for a mother to receive a death certificate for a child who has a heart beating,” Mr. Dolan said. “It’s an awkward situation.”

Lt. Riddic Bowers of the Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau said that once the bureau issued a death certificate and a release form, a deceased person’s relatives were free to dispose of the body according to their wishes.

So...what we have, if I'm getting this correct, is an American court system which has allowed a dead person to go from the coroner's office (where she's officially classified as dead) to a rehab center for therapy.

I just can't wrap my head around the complete illogic of this whole case. I hope the lawyer understands that the same pigeon-speak that allows him to argue for the deceased to be released to the family for rehab is what will keep him from being able to win a lawsuit against CHO.

A lawsuit or settlement can be made with the hospital if it's found that any negligence resulted in death. I really don't understand all the hoopla over this. New Jersey must allow Orthodox Jews to continue care until the heartbeat stops. Isn't that setting a precedent and any state can be ordered by a judge to do the same? Why is it so threatening for a few families here and there in various locations to want this? The truly brain dead will not last very long. I don't get it. Hopefully, if this case accomplishes anything it may prevent a few people being declared brain dead without the necessary without the proof, like those who woke just before organ harvesting.

I think the only state she would not be considered legally dead is New Jersey.
So if they managed to take her to New Jersey, would they be then able to argue that she is severely disabled instead of dead?

Medford NY is not at all far from NJ. I was thinking the same thing jjenny.

Could the mother establish residence in NJ and get health insurance to cover the expenses? Or could she transfer care to someone else to get health insurance to cover expense in NJ?

Here's a case of a girl that was on vacation out of the country. She had to have emergency surgery and the family cannot sue the hospital out of the country, so they are suing BCBS for not paying for a medical jet to fly her back to the US to get treatment.

Dolan spoke briefly about the NJ laws and addressing those in CA. If Dolan were to have his ways in changing these laws, then brain dead people would be housed at places and all kinds of expenses would be paid for by insurance while they rot away.

No matter where Jahi's body ends up will Dolan's next battle be to also try and force insurance to pay for her care because she isn't "really dead" according to "certain peoples" definition of death?

I swear this attorney is crazy.

Maybe she has insurance coverage though her dad. idk jmo

Whatever facility takes her, it needs to be made sure that they are not fraudulently billing insurance for her care.

Just before 8 p.m., Jahi could be seen in the back of the ambulance on a gurney wearing what appeared to be an oxygen mask, with a paramedic supervisor vehicle and a car with two uniformed Alameda County Sheriff's Office deputies in tow. The ambulance had arrived hours earlier, and left a side entrance to the hospital, turned left on 52nd Street, then left on Martin Luther King Jr. Way and out of sight.

It was unclear where it was headed, though a New York facility with ties to the Terri Schiavo Life & Hope Network has said it will accept Jahi for long-term care and reiterated that in a statement to CNN on Sunday.

The family's attorney, Christopher Dolan, and Sealey would not provide details on her treatment during a late-night news conference at his San Francisco office, but said Jahi will be hooked up to a feeding tube and a tracheotomy tube by Monday morning.

Just to clarify, this photo is of the ambulance entering the restricted area where Jahi's body was allowed to be picked up. It isn't leaving.

privacy, safety and people taking care of her don't even want praise.-- why they aren't disclosing location.

Sure and they don't want their names be associated with the backlash from meddling surgically with a deceased either.

I used that very word in an earlier post for an exaggerated effect and that is the exact word he used.

What these PICU nurses must be feeling right now....

Mom used that word in interviews. Will find ref tomorrow is someone hasn't already done it.

"...Jahi had an operation. I was told it went well. Then she started bleeding from her mouth. They gave me a cup for her to bleed into and said it was normal. She bled more and more. I couldn’t keep up with it. I asked for help, they gave me a bigger bucket..."

The entire introduction of the Organ Harvesting scare story into this case is revolting to me.

As well, other causes/campaigns which have purportedly been relevant; but imo, they appeared ONLY because of the agendas their supporters wanted to promote on fertile soil that the case (read: family/lawyer) laid-out in the media.

A stage was $et, and they came.

JMO. I lost sympathy for this family ages ago. It has become to be about the almighty dollar. Jahi has to be above ground to be referred to as "disabled". What a disgusting show this has become. I hope someone sues the lawyer for defamation regarding the "buckets" statement.
