Fawlty Towers actress Prunella Scales has died aged 93, her family have confirmed.

Scales was best known for playing hotel manager Sybil Fawlty, the long-suffering and domineering wife of Basil - played by John Cleese - in the classic British sitcom.

The actress died "peacefully at home in London yesterday", her sons Samuel and Joseph said.

They added that she was watching Fawlty Towers the day before she died. Cleese paid tribute, describing Scales as "a really wonderful comic actress". He said: "Scene after scene she was absolutely perfect

What a wonderful marriage she and Timothy West had.

It was lovely to see the relationship they had on their great canal journeys show.

Prunella was a wonderful actress. Fawlty Towers was on the tv all the time when I was a boy and I still enjoy seeing episodes now.

May Prunella and her husband Timothy Rest In Peace.

How pleasant a read... though confusing in some ways.
I recently saw Cleese in a recent Christmas movie (Father Christmas is Back with Kelsey Grammar and others), so this mention of Fawlty Towers just brought on a desire to rewatch. Hopefully it is still on Britbox...but these shows do come and go all the time.
We shall see ....

Is it confusing because one of the sons is named after his father ?

I didn't find anything confusing.
I'd love to see some of the other things she was in.
I do remember After Henry.
