Officials: 6 injured, 1-year-old presumed dead after rollover crash on Alligator Alley

Six people were injured, and a 1-year-old is presumed to be dead after a pickup truck rolled over along Alligator Alley in West Broward, according to rescue crews.

[...]

“At this point in time, as the window of opportunity continues to close, we transition from a rescue operation to a recovery operation,” Kane said. “We are still committed to finding this child, but obviously, as time passes, the hopes that the child is going to be located alive may dwindle, sadly.”

[...]

It remains unknown how the child was thrown from the vehicle, and it also remains unclear if the child was in a restraint, or car seat, prior to the crash.

Baby is presumed dead:(.
I wonder if he is underneath the wreckage. He could have been ejected but not actually been thrown that far. If he was unrestrained his parents are going to be charged. Poor little buddy.

omg, that is awful.
There's water nearby too....is it possible baby was thrown that far?

Hoping for a miracle, that the baby is alive somehow...

Unrestrained, he could have been thrown pretty far. I just cringe when I see people holding a baby in their lap on an airliner. If the airplane does a high speed aborted takeoff or crashes during landing that baby is a 100 mph projectile.

Broward County Fire Rescue 106 is at that rest stop that they would have passed right before their tire blew out. I wonder if they stopped at the rest area. Cameras there would probably show if the baby was restrained.

Praying for the Moses effect also. Please find him floating upright in his little seat in the marsh unharmed.

Are they saying that 7 people were in the pickup truck when it crashed? Of course the baby was not in a car seat!
