Found Deceased FL - 1 year old child, missing after crash, Interstate 75, Broward County, 3 Sept 2020

:eek::(
That incessant dinging for the seatbelt would drive me nuts. I’m guessing this was an older model that didn’t have the seatbelt alert.
What a tragic accident. Prayers for the family.
Those sensors/alarms can be fixed where they don't go off. And I'm not sure if back seats have alarms or not. I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if someone was holding the infant. Terrible tragedy..

That’s the blowout. It’s a wonder it didn’t dislodge and roll into traffic.

ETA: a comment mentions tree branches above that tire. It still looks blown out just below the branches to me tho.

Twitter

On one of the videos you can see the tire better. The tire wires are definitely sticking out. It does look a branch in the screenshot though. All of those people who’s lives will never be the same and an innocent baby who will never grow up. My heart hurts for each and every one of them

Mid 2000's Nissan Frontier, FWIW. Bald tires, but a rear blowout won't send a truck tumbling. Overreaction by the driver, especially at higher speeds, is very likely.

Regardless, a horrible tragedy, brought on by several negligent acts.
RIP, little one.

Unrestrained, he could have been thrown pretty far. I just cringe when I see people holding a baby in their lap on an airliner. If the airplane does a high speed aborted takeoff or crashes during landing that baby is a 100 mph projectile.

That happened to my Dad in 1958/1959 when my grandfather got in a crash. The vehicle didn't have seatbeats and the windows were down. He flew out of the car and my grandfather couldn't find him. A stranger found him and dropped him off at the hospital.

Edit: just found out the poor baby didn't survive. My deepest sympathies for the family:(

It looks a lot like my truck which has 6 sets of seatbelts. Even if people were strapped in, someone would be out of luck. What a horrible thing to happen. I just don't understand anyone not wearing their seatbelt. I can't imagine the grief and guilt they feel over this. Such a tragedy.

And so easily avoided.
