Thank you @sds71!

What a bittersweet, touching and respectful article. Goosebumps as I had NO IDEA that anyone had been pulled from the rubble other than the young man waving.

Are there others that I've missed, or is this new news and first disclosed. Whoa, are there others? I don't have the NYT article handy for reference, was their their unit marked with this information and I missed it, or was it private?

Prayers that more were saved that weren't known about before.

The Times just said they were taken to the hospital.

I've been following the SUN Youtube which is continuing LIVE feed as a witness from last night to this moment (yes, the best witness is an international media site MOO) and have been seeing what has happened before when they find remains. Interesting this am where their focus is. All the searchers stand in silence around respectfully.

ETA: Note this specific YouTube has rewind capabilities up to 12 hours at this time.

Miami condo collapse demolition: 3 more bodies found, death toll at 27

....But by 10:15 p.m. Sunday, as fireworks displays exploded across the nation, police cruisers with loudspeakers drove through the shelter-in-place zone surrounding the condominium site here, advising all residents to remain inside their homes. Minutes later, three horns in succession were sounded. About a minute later, there was the sound of loud cracking explosives. And then, as planned, the building collapsed in on itself....

When you noticed them standing around were they up by the pool area? Or in a circle around the pile of rubble? Just curious as I have been watching off and on and rewinding.. It would seem that they may have found something as there was activity with many people they all stopped and stood. Now there are one or two people by the rubble and the rest just standing by the pool?
TIA

WATCH LIVE: Officials give an update on the Surfside condo collapse, following the demolition of the building's remains. http://cbsnews.com/live
Sounds like they really make a massive effort to find the missing pets at great risk to the searchers.

I mean " Adjunct Professor at FIU, Florida International University, School of Architecture Courses included – Construction Drawing in AutoCAD, Hospitality Design & Morris Lapidus Survey"
Seems they are certified

I've used CAD and I don't have an engineering degree.

Her own website shows nothing relating to an engineering degree. My husband is in the building trade and he's had several individuals who hired architects or architectural students to draw their dream homes only for them to get a reality check when the engineer says , "nope, you can't do that." That's probably where the saying 'back to the drawing board' comes from.

Miami-Dade mayor says teams have conducted three separate searches — and have found no pets that may have been in the Surfside condo building https://cbsn.ws/3dAG0AL

I read that there was a crated dog on the 9th floor, two parrots and a cat on the 10 floor in the remaining part of the building. I believe the crated dog would already be dead. :(

Meanwhile, they spent money on painting the exterior colour, agonizing over the trim colours, spend thousands on plantings and building little gazebos that no one ever sits in. It's all cosmetic.

Yes, I noticed in a WSJ article that the residents were wanting to get 5 additional parking spaces squeezed in behind the planter boxes ... and had the engineer request permission for those, while he was trying to liaise with the town about the upcoming 40 year remediation (roof) tasks.

Yesterday, the WSJ released a string of emails that it has obtained ... emails between the engineer, the condo manager, and the town ... about the remediation work they wanted to start.

I think it's human nature to deflect and defer when major expenditures loom large.

My own Florida condo is putting off replacing the metal railings because of the associated costs. The eleventh hour is probably when the board will act. Hopefully, it won't take a fatal accident to repair them. I think this tragedy will be getting a lot of condo boards scurrying to review their recommendations.

Living in Canada every year we get roads that are just destroyed because of the freeze/thaw cycle. Major potholes causing lots of damage to vehicles but the cities rarely bite the bullet and resurface the roads. They just send out all these guys with trucks of hot asphalt and they pitch it in the holes and tamp it down with a shovel. Lather, rinse, repeat. You might wait years for it to get done and then a two mile stretch needs to be resurfaced instead of a 100 yard section. Currently, one of our roads in town has made the top five of worst roads in Central Ontario.

The fly in the ointment is going to be this: the owners of the condos at Surfside were most likely not told of a dire situation developing. Yes, they were made aware of problems that existed, but these problems were not related to them as potentially dangerous or life threatening. Had they been advised that some of the problems needed immediate attention and were dangerous, they most likely would have agreed to pay for those repairs. Those of us that live in condos are always asked for money for one thing or another---and often we say, hell no, we aren't paying for that. I don't blame those poor people--- they just were not made aware of the dire situation developing.

It hasn't been reported but I would like to know how many of the residents were renters vs owners.

PET STATUS Miami Dade officials have conducted three full sweeps including under beds and in closets, they have also used thermal imaging over the rubble pile and in the remaining tower to look for animals
@CBS12

well this just brings the devastation home- I’m not sure I will ever stay at the beach again unless it’s a one story motel which thankfully we still have in FL- it’s all just so terribly awful and sad …

I'd be interested to know how many of those units illustrated in the NYT article with unknown residents are owned by LLCs. Which may be the reason they couldn't identify who could be missing.
