FL - 15 Year old, tries to kidnap neighbor's child

  • #21
I wonder if his intent was to rob the place but he snatched up the child when he heard mom coming, a sort of desperate move to secure his exit without mom interfering or wanting to harm her child in a scuffle.

This is is just so bizarre. Anything I can think a 15 year old juvenile offender would want a five year old disabled child for is not good! I am hoping the child was not the motive but was incidental to the situation. Otherwise, this is just scary stuff.

Looks like the 15 y/o's recent behaviors were not just 'petty crime' since he was already on 'felony probation.'
Maybe he was one of those over-acheivers whose criminal careers bypassed petty crimes and started w felonies?
Seriously, as others have wondered - was he suspected of or convicted of other abduction or kidnapping-type crimes?
As he is a juvie, we may not find out.

JM2cts and I may be wrong.

From the baynews9 link in Skully's first post:
"The teen, whom Bay News 9 is not identifying because of his age, was charged with attempted kidnapping, burglary of an occupied dwelling and violation of probation because he was on felony probation with an 8 p.m. curfew." BBM

Thanks, I should have worded that better. What I meant to say is he probably didn't start with something petty and jump to the more serious crimes in an instant. Usually there is a build up from lesser crimes to the more evil ones when the petty crimes no longer float their boat. You are correct though, some do start out in the major leagues as well. I'd like to know more of his past, his social profiles, was he ever mentioned in another crime that is unsolved, etc.

With the apartments being on top of each other, I wonder if the teen could hear when her shower started from his own apartment.

I wonder if the teen planned this, and waited for the woman to start the shower before breaking through the window to get at the child.

Breaking through the window makes me think he was after the child, as opposed to committing a burglary.

I doubt we are going to hear his previous involvement with the law, because he is a minor. But I have found another article online which names the boy and the father. I do not know if I can link to the article here.

I think they need to rethink protecting minor's privacy especially if it can prevent a future crime.
