BBM You don't believe a word Zimmerman is saying, so why believe Martin's father? Also, if the phone was some how powered down during the/a struggle, it wouldn't ring. The gf said the phone went dead - could have been damaged. IMO, as terrible job as the SPD did in trying to id Martin, his father did in trying to locate him that night.
Did Martin's father ever say if he left a message or not? It would be interesting to see logs of Martins phone how many times his father, or his gf actually did try calling after the incident, and if they left messages.
Ya know, Ross, I can see a scenario in which everyone is telling the truth as they see it and the situation just gets out of control. I have tried to take everything I have read thus far and come up with something that makes sense out of a senseless situation. Here's what I have so far.
Trayvon leaves 7-11 with his Skittles and Ice Tea and heads home. He is talking to his girlfriend on a Bluetooth. He notices GZ watching him from his car and mentions it to his girlfriend. It starts to rain harder and TM ducks under a neighbors awning to get out of it.
Flip to GZ. He is doing his Neighborhood Watch, driving slowly around the streets when he sees a young black man he doesn't recognize. He starts to watch him because they have had a number of break-ins in the neighborhood recently and some were reported to be teen-age black boys. GZ sees the young man go under an awning at a neighbors condo and sees him standing there. Perhaps he see him talking to himself (because he can't see the Bluetooth) and finds this odd behaviour. GZ parks to watch him and calls the non-emergency number to report a suspicious person.
Flip to TM. TM is uneasy seeing this man staring at him and the rain isn't letting up. His girlfriend tells him to run, but he thinks that is punk stuff. He tells her he will walk fast, pulls his hoody over his head and heads back out in the rain, walking fast, trying to get home.
Flip to GZ. GZ is reporting the suspicious person, when the person puts a hoody over their face and starts to leave quickly. GZ tells the operator that the person is running to get away, exits his vehicle, and starts to follow the person on foot. The operator, hearing the wind on the mouthpiece, asks GZ if he is following the person. GZ states he is and the operator tell him the don't need him to do that. GZ tells the operator to have the officer call his cell when he arrives and GZ will tell him where he is at. GZ then hangsup and continues to follow the suspicious person.
Flip to TM. TM is walking quickly towards home when he realizes that the stranger in the car has gotten out and is now following him on foot. This makes him more nervous/scared/aggitated and he walks quickly into the nearest walkway.
Now. What happened after this, whether TM waited for the stranger to round the corner and jumped him and started to beat on him until the stranger shot him, OR if GZ followed the suspicious person around the corner, tried to hold him for police and shot him accidentally during a scuffle, OR any other variation that we can come up with, IMO GZ is still the reason TM is dead. Had he listened to the 911 operator and not followed, this would have ended very differently and we would all be on another thread right now debating Casey's guilt or innocence, or waiting to see if the remains are Hailey Dunn or not, and TM would be back at his mother's house, watching tv and talking to his girlfriend on his phone this very minute while his little brother beaned Skittles off fo his head. Unfortunately, because of GZ's actions, we sit here trying to figure out how this could have happened. And, I think it started as the misunderstanding I described above and escalated when GZ decided that another @$$hole wasn't getting away. All moo.
