The female witness also keeps calling the teenager a "little boy" but this article claims he was 6'3" so he was very tall. I don't think he looks that tall in any of the photos we have seen, though.

6'3" sounds big doesn't it? But not so big to me when it is stated that he weighed only 140 lbs.

Tall and skinny, not quite as 'beefy' as GZ

I almost wish LE would just stop releasing statements. The only thing I want to hear at this point is the 911 call(s).

LE can't put a spin on those.

I saw a headline in the Orlando Sentinel site that the 911 tapes have been released. I am on my phone and have not learned to cut and paste or I would post the link.

Just checked and the tapes are not yet released. Stating they will be released this afternoon.

Thanks, Ranch. This is a very controversial law that makes us all fair game if anyone wants to say they felt threatened by someone. Especially if the other party is dead and cannot speak for themselves. I do think it would have been handled very differently if it had happened in Orlando or in Orange county. JMO

Lee, Investigator Chris Serino — the case's lead detective — and other department managers sat down for an exclusive interview with the Orlando Sentinel today.
Lee said he is frustrated that Trayvon's family, its lawyers and others have ripped his department for its handling of the case. He is not a racist, he said, and his officers conducted a thorough and fair investigation and did nothing underhanded or untruthful.
"The hysteria, the media circus, it's just crazy," Lee said. "It's the craziest damn thing I've ever seen, and it's sad. It's sad for the city of Sanford, the police department, because I know in my heart we did a good job."

It's sad alright, Chief Lee. Sad because an innocent kid was killed for simply walking down the street, not because you're being scrutinized.

Excuse me, but he sounds like an :behind:.

MOO of course

Oh my... Poor Chief Lee.... So concerned about your reputation?......

If I could I would say shame on you .... You shouldn't be whining and bath in self pity but putting the solving of the murder on young Trayvon first...

And yes my opinion only

I can answer this one! If these numbers are accurate, he was a tall, scrawny kid whose voice may not have been the deep voice of a man's yet. I have a 17yo son who is 6'3". He weighs approximately 170 lbs and looks like a rail compared to his friends who are close in height. He would be described as very thin, although he's in good shape.

6'3" and 140lbs would be very, very thin. It's possible Tray had grown tall but hadn't filled out all the way yet. My son's friends are all over the map as to where they are in puberty. Some are lanky and clearly not done yet; some look and sound like grown men even if they aren't as tall, and some still look like middle school boys to me.

Reported on CNN today when neighbors came out they saw Zimmerman standing over Trayvon. The commentator said that it was an execution stance. as Trayvon was laying face first with Zimmerman between his legs. When the neighbors saw Zimmerman he had his hands on his head, almost to say "what did I just do?"

This makes me cry. There is absolutely no possible reason for this to be justified if this is true. (And why would we think it isn't?)

I guess their plan to release them this afternoon has been delayed. It's after 6 p.m. there. And you know the news stations would fall all over themselves to make the tapes available on their websites if they had them.

I thought the State has the tapes now? Wasn't everything turned over to them?

Sanford has some serious issues! This is like when a judge had signed the warrant for Jason Collison's arrest and the Sanford Police didn't put it into their computer so when Jason showed up to turn himself in, they sent him home knowing full well the judge had signed the warrant.

Stalling, imo.

Police claim what she is telling now is not consistent with what she told police initially.

"On Thursday the police department said witness Mary Cutcher's statement during a TV interview was "inconsistent" with what she told investigators."

Why are they not releasing her statement, if this is the case. Again, WHERE ARE THE 911 CALLS? For goodness sakes, we all know how FL is with the Sunshine laws

“This was not self-defense,” Cutcher said. “We heard no fighting, no wrestling, no punching. We heard a boy crying. As soon as the shot went off, it stopped, which tells me it was the child crying. If it had been Zimmerman crying, it wouldn’t have stopped. If you’re hurting, you’re hurting.”

She and her friend say they heard the sounds from a few steps away, where they were inside beside an open window. Seconds later, they dashed out to find a boy face down on the ground and a man standing over him, a foot on each side of the body on the ground, with his hands pinning the shooting victim down.

“I asked him, ‘What’s happening here? What’s going on?’ ” said Cutcher’s friend, Selma Mora Lamilla. “The third time, I was indignant, and he said, ‘just call the police.’ Then I saw him with his hands over his head in the universal sign of: ‘Oh man, I messed up.’ ”

The women, who were the first on the scene, said they saw Zimmerman pacing back and forth.

“I know what I heard. I heard a cry and a shot,” Mora said. “If there was a fight, it did not happen here where the boy was shot. I would have heard it, as this all happened right outside my open window.”

More at link.....a second witness backs up Ms. Cutcher...

I'm wondering if GZ got blood on his hands from touching Trayvon's back when he was pinning him down (to shoot him?)...and then transferred the blood to his head when he put his hands over his head? And if he shot the boy in the chest and Trayvon was dead or dying, why would he need to pin him down?

WOW! I think you've just done more detecting on this case than the Sanford Police. That would explain a LOT!

Of course, if he had actually been taken into custody, like he should have been, we would have some sort of record of whether he was actually injured or just covered in his victim's blood.

Now, you've brought up a good point: did the local police take ANY evidence at all on this case for testing, or did they just accept what GZ said and left it there?

Did they take GZ's shirt that supposedly had the grass clippings/stains and possibly blood? Did they take any samples of the blood on GZ's hands, head or other places on his body or clothes and send this for testing?

He was looked at by paramedics at the scene, and I believe after being questioned went to a medical facility for treatment.

The first part, with the paramedics, is for sure true. It was the paramedics he was talking to when he reportedly said he had been calling out for help but no one would come.
