Official: Suspension wasn't for tardiness

Looks like some one is lying about why Martin was suspended. And people are claiming it's the SFD doing all the lying?

Here is the post. It says State Law says a student cannot be suspended for being late?

I don't see how we can consider this article a reliable source of information without having the actual copy of the article posted which can be very easily done by scanning the article and then posting it. For all we know, the article could say the sky is green and the grass is blue. Without knowing the context in which the comments are reported, it could change the meaning of the entire article.

I happen to have posted with rossva for a long time and take his post as factually correct for myself. However, I can certainly respect & understand anyone who wants to read it personally before accepting it as factual.

I didn't really see anything in the article indicating a positive belief that charges are coming. He said if charges get filed, but that's fairly nebulous. I think he was just referring to what would happen if the grand jury decided to indict him.

Apparently there are additional 911 tapes that haven't been released, according to Zimmerman's friend who just started speaking publicly.

If Trayvon got the better of him in a fight, which it looks like happened, he would be in fear for his life during the fight. Not before. He didn't have to fear for his life as he was pursuing Trayvon.

He had no business pursuing Trayvon except from a safe distance that did not include body to body confrontation. He was hoping to catch him in a crime or tie him to a previous crime in order to make brownie points and get closer to his coveted law enforcement employment. IMO.

BTW, I noticed on some of his 47 numerous 911 calls, they have the caller identified as George(a very common first name). Not his full name.

This is what I think may have happened. I believe that it started with Trayvon being late to school. He was given detention and didn't serve his detention and therefore was suspended. Maybe he went back on school grounds after being suspended (see a friend?) and the suspension was upgraded to 10 days. Trayvon's mother, frustrated with Trayvon for getting suspended, sends him to dad for a few days to maybe dad would give him a good talking to? Or a good whoopin' (which is what I would have gotten had I been suspended from school.).

ETA: Using Casey Anthony talk... so in a backwards sort of way... he was suspended for being late to school because that is where everything originated?

That would make sense. I still think it would be wrong to characterize him as having been suspended for tardiness in that instance, though.

My thought was that he was tardy by not being where he was supposed to be, but he was actually at school in an unauthorized area. (like hiding or hanging out behind a building or something?)

So maybe somehow both accounts are true?

Anytime you are suspended, the entire campus is an unauthorized area. I've seen it happen when a kid is suspended from school, he picks up his girlfriend and gets caught on school grounds, and his suspension is extended?

Here's a question -

We know the FBI and DOJ are there. They will have access to everything - obviously. What happens if the FBI asks SPD - "ok, where are the pictures of GZ's injuries?" or "I'm sure you took crime scene pix before moving the body - can we see those?" or " we would like to see any and all surveillance tapes from the complex." And, there aren't any. Then what? What would the FBI and DOJ do then?

I've seen this happen over and over, we think LE is inept and didn't do their job, or aren't doing their job, because they aren't showing us the goods. How can we sleuth without the goods?? Defense attorneys can say whatever they want to the press - they'll never have to answer for it because they will not be taking the stand for anything. Media reports what the lawyers tell them, and we spend our time going :waitasec::banghead::twocents::waitasec::banghead:

Then there's a trial and we're all like :what: The KCA case spoiled us rotten!

IMO the only thing relevant about Trayvon's suspension to the circumstances of his death is that if it hadn't happened, he would have been at home in Miami that night and would never have found himself in GZ's sights.

I'm still confused about whether he had a holster or not? If the gun was always in his waistband, I have no idea how it didn't fall out during an altercation?

I'm not totally convinced that Zimmerman didn't have the gun in his hand when he caught up with Trayvon?

Police report stated he had a holster inside his waistband. Gun therefor would not be easily visible from the outside especially on a rather chubby fellow.. I doubt if Tray would have punched him on the hooter if he had his gun drawn.

Yes it did! I'm very happy that we all didn't just throw our hands up and walk away after that verdict and ignore other cases. I've found my way around since the trial ended and I am shocked everyday at the cases being reported. It really can eat at your soul, but I would rather be no where else than here? I love Websleuths!
