I keep hearing them say that the reason Zimmerman was not arrested was because he invoked the self-defense claim but I was reading earlier today about this lady in Tallahassee who shot and killed someone who came to her home where she felt threatened and she was arrested and kept in jail until the case came to trial, since 2008. The judge released her today during her trial as he stated that she was covered under the stand your ground law. So there is no reason whatsoever that Zimmerman was not arrested and held until such time it was proven in a court of law that he was innocent or guilty.

What??? That is crazy. They didn't realize then that she was rightfully using her right to defend herself. So, the fact that GZ has gotten so much publicity has nothing to do with this judge letting her go before the trial was over, or does it?

This says that LE released the 911 calls (after much public pressure), but doesn't say they released the video. That video was leaked, IMO, and not officially released by LE.
Can you just shoot me now and get it over with?

Here is what I have 'heard' about the video. I don't have a link. ABC were the first ones to show the video. What I heard an ABC reporter say was that ABC had asked the police for the video, and so the police or someone there, gave them that first version, which some have suggested was a video of a video.
The next morning, the Sanford Police Department provided on their YouTube account that full 6 minute, spliced together video. That's all I know. I have no link to anything.

She was not arrested until over a year later. The OP misread the articles, I guess. I posted the accurate information and it got deleted. Oh, well.

Maybe it was the non-emergency line?

I don't know? If he was the neighborhood watch captain, I would think he would have no problem calmly talking to anyone about his concerns? Calling the cops on children for playing in the street is a little excessive to me?
I see police as friendly and helpful. I don't see a problem calling them.
I had a bunch of teenage girls in the car when I got pulled over once and they started freaking out. I laughed and asked them why. They said you're in trouble. I told them I didn't do anything. Well he came up and told me my registration or something was expired (the little sticker on the plate) and gave me a ticket. The girls asked me if I was mad at him or if I was going to try to talk him out of it. Why should I be mad at him??- I forgot to renew it. And why should I try to manipulate him? -That has to make his job harder. I hope they took something away from that day. I refuse to go through life thinking every officer is out to get me, every hooded person is going to rob me, every person driving a suped-up car is going to sell me drugs, every immaculately dressed woman is going to be a b1tch, and every mechanic is going to rip me off. well maybe not that last one JUST KIDDING

That is my whole problem with this case, mainstream media, Sharpton, Jackson and yes even Trayvon's parents have made this entire about race. I know from most my posts no one may realize that I think Zimmerman was entirely in the wrong, and I really hope that in the end justice prevails and he is prosecuted for what he has done. BUT this is not about race, I don't think even for Zimmerman it was about race, I think he was wrong for following Trayvon even if he thought Trayvon was up to no good, he called the police and he should have stopped there.

But I am sooooo sick of the "race card"

<modsnip>
Good Post

So his goal that night was to shoot an innocent black kid? Really? He was on a mission to kill Trayvon? No need for a trial then. Let's just fry him now.

BBM...Yep, thats my opinion...And IMHO, he should have been arrested that night and charged.. JMHO..

it's in 46 911 calls released we need a media/docs thread I can't remember where I even listened to them from

After listening to several of his calls about black suspicious teenagers matching descriptions of robbers in the neighborhood, I have to wonder if every time a teenager walked down the street looking a certain way, he thought they were "suspicious". Could he have seen Trayvon and his cousin or friend before, since he mentioned to 911 that they would be back near the back gate? GZ says he has seen them before to 911. Could these fellas have been innocent also and GZ always saw a law breaker in everyone he saw? He certainly seemed to be overly annoyed by small children at play in the neighborhood. Maybe his problems were authentically more serious, adrenal exhaustion or something, than we have considered. His voice tone in the calls always sounds calm, yet his words just don't seem to sit right.

The race issue started when GZ called 911.Do you really think he would have made the same phone call if Trayvon was white?

Well reading the 911 history of calling about anything and everything, yes IMO he would of called the cops on him if he was white, if you listen to the first part of the 911 call GZ isn't sure in the beginning TM is black.

I don't know what the SA is going to now, they are truly damned if they do, damned if they don't. There is not going to be a satisfactory outcome no matter what they decide at this point. j,o

Weather there is a satisfactory outcome or not they need to do what is right by both families.

Posters Pot meet Zimmerman Kettle. Aren't some people doing what they are claiming Zimmerman did that night? Rushing to judge based on appearances?

MOOO

To me it sounded like a young person screaming in true terror. I believe it was Trayvon trying to keep from getting shot by the gun that GZ was pointing at him. Do any of us believe that if instead of Trayvon being shot, if in the scuffle, GZ had been shot with his own gun, would the police have believed Trayvon's story? I don't think so.

how do you know this?

I think he should have been arrested that night too. I think for manslaughter. But I have no reason to believe that he was on a mission to kill a kid that night.

He was a watchman for years. Why that night would he go on a MISSION to kill?

Interesting that a "Judge" made the decision on her immunity. No judge has been involved in Trayvon's case!

There was a recent change or added statute that says the police can't arrest someone without more or less being able to prove that is WASN'T self defense. Someone posted a link that had the new statutes last night. This law is IMO the reason GZ wasn't held.

He very much was a fresh faced young boy. He was 2 weeks past his 17th birthday, definitely still a child just as so many other victims that we have followed on this forum. The photograph in the Hollister shirt was taken in 2010, that was after his football days. The truth of the matter is that he really hadn't changed much through his 17 years. He was as cute at 3 as he was at 17. He was as cute at 7 as he was at 17. He was as cute at 12 as he was at 17. He was a handsome kid who had his future in front of him. Do you realize that Trayvon pulled his father out of his burning home? That's the type of person Trayvon was. He was a good kid who had some screw ups along the way, the same as both of my daughters are good kids who have had some screw ups along the way, the same as any other teenager out there. He was a good kid until George Zimmerman decided his time on this earth was up. He was a good kid until George Zimmerman decided to play the judge, jury, and the executioner. He was a good kid until George Zimmerman brutally murdered him.

if you know for a fact GZ did what you said he did please back it up. Nobody knows Who did what that night.

Wonder what it does for an ex bar room bouncer's manhood and self esteem to hear his Daddy get on national TV and tell the world that a skinny 17 year old child beat his son's azz?

And THEN, the next night, have his brother tell the world that one more punch and he'd a had to wear diapers?

IMHO.. There is a BIG difference between possessing self esteem and having an over-inflated EGO so I'm more inclined to believe GZ is sufficiently lacking when it comes to possessing any self esteem.. IMHO His EGO rules his life...JMHO

A while ago, I believe someone in his family or a friend, said that George mentored young black kids? Did we ever get any confirmation on that? Where he volunteered? I would think that if he belonged to an organization or volunteered to mentor young black kids, there would be record of it? I'm pretty sure they would need to do background checks, etc?

I love anyone who volunteers their time to help other people. I doesn't even matter what cause you volunteer for, it's the thought and heart that goes into it.

I would like for more information on this part of George's life?

It has been stated by relatives and friends that Trayvon volunteered too.

What??? I googled everything from chloroform, adipocere, blow flies, coffin flies, human decomposition, how to clean up human decomposition.... now add on all the searches I have done for the other cases I have followed recently and I've googled for pill mills (different case), white power websites/forums, black panthers, KKK, 9mm guns, etc...

Yeah, I hope I never match the description of a murder suspect.

LOL Yeah, I've been following crime cases for... well, for a long, loooong time. I've googled some really bizarre stuff. If anyone ever has the need to search my computer, I'm going down!

If GZ refused treatment, wouldn't they make him sign a consent form saying that? I have no experience with this, but on a different forum a former EMT said where he had worked it was required in cases where the EMTs thought the person being treated should go for more treatment but refused.

Just asking.

HOPEFULLY :please: the SFD has as a standard operating policy the requirement that an individual who refuses transport and/or medical assistance at a scene be required to sign an AMA (against medical advice) form that is kept with the run sheet/case notes of the call. An EMS/FD agency is entitled to set up a SOP but EVERY one in any jurisdiction where I've practiced has had a standardized form & protocol approved by MDs and JDs on a EMS commission/committee.

That's what my mother did, called 911 because she was two little kids riding on a power wheels type thing in the middle of the street.
