The article I read was on WTOL.com, can't link I'm on my phone. This was the most bizarre story I've read in a while. At first I thought the reporter transposed numbers in her age. I'm 52, had my 3 young. I can't imagine ten years From now starting over, hubby would think I lost my mind. Modern science gave her the opportunity to have the two youngest children from her dead husbands frozen sperm. I'm not against that at all. What is heart breaking, is to go to all that effort to create these little miracles and not be able to care for them. The two remaining boys were placed in therapeutic homes. I hope the six year old gets the help he needs to deal with the trauma of what he did. Now and in the years to come.

Steele’s neighbors were shocked after hearing what happened to the baby girl who lived in a large home on Bath Club Boulevard in North Redington Beach.

Manny Molina lives down the street from Steele and says he often heard her yelling in anger at the children.*“Pretty much all weekend,” said Molina.

(snip)

“Frankie and Phillip, at 6 and 3, were running amok, unsupervised, and what others saw was consistent with what happened on Monday, and that she didn’t care for the kids and was negligent and neglectful and abused them by leaving these kids in the car,” the sheriff said on Thursday.

her husband died of cancer and she thought at her age she could raise 3 children by herself?

doesn't say if she has any help or older children.............crazy if you ask me! JMOO

I think they should look into his death also now. He may had cancer but they should do an auto spy to make sure he wasn't poisoned etc...It sounds like she's been off for sometime now.
55 is way too old to start a family esp three children.

The kids never have a choice, but always pay the price. It's the worst kind of injustice IMO.

Why did she have all of thise children if she could not handle them?

I sure hope some of those same neighbors reported the neglect and constant yelling.

Well, exactly. Unfortunately she isn't the only one with numerous children and unable to take care of them. But in her case she obviously had to put a lot of effort into getting pregnant.

And I still want to know what Doctor helped her with this last one.

I almost wonder if "mom" has some serious cognitive problems. She left the EMTS to go put away groceries? Alzheimers? Post partum psychosis? Something? Don't know what would make it seem a good idea to have a baby at 62.

I agree with you Night-Owl I think the mother has some cognitive problems, whether she has always had them or whether they are because of her age we won't know, but she was definitely out of her depth. But, as is so often the case it is the children who are the sufferers. This is a tragedy on all levels.

I wonder if she was still working at Raymond James as reported. Seems like if she was having mental issues that would be an issue at work.

Two fires seem very suspicious to me. Especially after reading about how unsupervised the children were.

I totally agree. And the reports I've read don't seem to have confirmed what exactly happened at the hotel or why the alarm went off.

Just now seeing and reading about this case since it popped up on the "new" thread.

Not sure if this article was previously posted but it gives a good overview of the life/events leading up to the baby's death. (Article from 2016.)

I was about 62 when my granddaughter was born. I loved babysitting when she was an infant. But the toddler stage was a bit much. After a couple of hours I was exhausted. I cannot imagine if I had 3 little ones at that age.

Why would the doctors allow or encourage it? She didn't even have a support network, apparently.

I saw one article about a woman who had a child at 60, but she was married to a 40 yr old man---and he really wanted a child and was very hands on. So I can see why a doctor might go along with that plan.

But this woman, alone with 3 little ones? WHY did they even allow the 2nd and 3rd pregnancy????
