FL - 8-year-old raped, severely beaten, run over by bicycle in Jacksonville, Aug 2015

  • #61
I am surprised this thread is getting so little attention. It has been on Nancy Grace at least twice.

  • #62
Well, even if it's not getting a great amount of attention from WS members, I'm sure it's getting a lot of attention from LE. The attack was so vicious that there has to be DNA all over the crime scene. Maybe it hasn't come back yet. Maybe the offender isn't in the system. I am confident that this creep will make a mistake (if he hasn't already) and this precious little girl will get justice.

Thinking of this this precious girl & wonder how she is doing. I am hoping she is making a lot of progress both mentally & physically.

I'm speechless on this one.... I hope and pray for all good things from this day forward for this sweet girl. Please let them find this monster and he gets what he deserves.

It's a week ago that there was any news, as far as I can see. It mentions how police have said they've only had 11 tips in the case, compared to the 300 in missing Lonzie Barton's case. That's directly related to the lack of information in this case though, they say. Specifically, a description.

The article quotes Chief Hackney saying they don't know anything other than the suspect 'is male', but I think that must be a mistake as all earlier articles stated the suspect was a black male, I thought?

The reward now stands at $8,000.

With the bicycle reference, are we looking at another teenager doing the raping and attacking, like in the Jenise case and the Madyson case?

The quotes from the girl about being alive rip my heart out. Yes, you're alive!! You will make it.

My thoughts exactly -- and could there have been more than one?

  • #67
I agree its someone who rode a bicycle. That creep runned her over.

Sadistic animal needs DP

Hmmmm, Hatfield -- Yes, indeed, and FL has the DP, and they are not shy about using that needle; but I don't know if FL has a DP statute for rape-but-not-murder of a young child -- we'll find out, but they may not. But Florida is a pretty hard-nosed state about such things. Maybe someone out there knows. Also it would depend on the defendant's/defendants' age(s).

"Medical probes" would be the least of it. She had to undergo surgery and more may be needed "... she remains in intensive care "awaiting further examinations of her damaged eye, ear, throat and chest which was brutality inflicted during the rape.”

http://www.news4jax.com/news/parents-worry-that-attacker-is-still-on-loose/34676228

She may have to have operations for her eye, ear and throat for years to come. Possibly plastic surgery, etc., etc.

WTH did the perpetrator do to her to injure he face so? It sounds like the perp was possibly in a rage to hurt her so badly. If so, we may well have not seen the last of him. Did she remind him of someone, or was she just in the wrong place at the wrong time? Did she willingly follow him into the woods or did she know him?

If it occurred around 7:00pm (was it 6:40pm or 7:40pm?), then there should have been daylight. Maybe someone saw something. Area security cameras? I' sure LE is on that.

I am torn between hoping she remembers nothing -- for her sake, and hoping that she remembers everything -- so as to have a good description of the monster.

I get so worked up on these cases, and they just don't stop. Just dammit.

I concur sister bordenmnovich. This was not his first offense, there is just way too much violence. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more victims, perhaps with less permanent damage. I apologize for sounding crude, but we all know psychopaths like this ones start lower on the violence scale.

I've checked in here almost every day and I'm surprised, and disturbed, that they haven't caught this despicable 🤬🤬🤬 yet. I hope that LE perhaps has someone under surveillance and are just not saying anything yet. He simply cannot be permitted to stay out there.

  • #71
Even though the 🤬🤬🤬 rode a bike, it might not be a young person. Lots of ex-cons ride bikes if they have no valid drivers licenses or cars. And in Los Angeles, I recently saw an article about the number of perps/robbers/rapists who ride bikes around in middle of the night because they can evade the cops more easily and are less visible to LE.

Very good point -- we see it here in NC as well. Bikes are much quieter and easier to hide, they are easily stolen, and they can be ditched quickly -- just park 'em somewhere and walk or hide.

Wow! just when I think it can't get worse, some demented, evil person does the unimaginable 

Well, she is alive -- that's not what we usually see. We've just got to keep hoping & praying that she improves every day and that the doctors can help her overcome and defeat her injuries and whatever trauma she experienced. We have a survivor -- so far, so good.

First Coast News (@FCN2go): https://twitter.com/FCN2go?s=09

JSO Chief of Investigations Tom Hackney: Case is being worked as a "stranger sexual battery" http://t.co/sg6AmfpiGm

Hackney: 8 year old rape victim says "black male with short hair is the one who attacked her." Do not have other information

Hackney: There is physical evidence, we have spoken to every sexual predator in the area that we know of.

Hackney: Patrol officers have been in the University Blvd across from JU area around the clock.

Hackney: Parents should have "stranger-danger" conversations with their kids. Let them know what to look out for.

Hackney: Child was unable to provide an age range of the suspect.

Hackney: As more information becomes available, JSO will come back out.

Hackney: Crimestoppers is still available. 1-866-845-TIPS

Hackney: If you know anyone who has that suspect description and seems exceedingly interested in the case should call police.

Hackney: Child was unable to provide an age range of the suspect.

FCN says in their tweets the full press conference will be available on their website soon.

My heart just breaks for this little girl & what she will have to endure in the coming months.

bbm -- Hmmm, DNA from sperm, possibly?? Or from under her fingernails?? Oh, let us hope. And let us hope that the victim gave LE more info than we have been told.

A student from JU?

This case is really bugging me. There is a very dangerous child predator out there who needs to be off the streets! This little gal has been in my heart and I cannot stop worrying about the other kiddos in the area. If this were the perp's first rape/violent assault I would be shocked.

The (apparently fabricated) attempted abduction of the 4-year-old girl happened at 8.15pm. Isn't that around the same time in the evening this eight-year-old was abducted and raped?

Also, the four-year-old had scratches and no cctv was available.

This is such a coincidence. I'd really like to know why police are so sure the earlier abduction attempt was fabricated.

I'm sure there's more to the story -- but LE certainly wrote it off in a hurry. Wham-bam, thank-you-ma'am, case closed.

I wonder if they are thinking about it now? We are....

She is prolly getting a lot of TLC at the hospital -- this should help her heal and feel special, and it should boost her feelings about herself, too. And that would be a big deal for her (or for anyone!). If things are tuff at home from time to time with her mom having to do so much to help the family get by, I'm thinking, then it's good that this little girl is pampered a bit -- maybe she can eat ice cream by now, for instance. And the younger sister is the only one with her mom, so she might be feeling a bit special, too. And although her mom can't be there every minute, I would assume, at least she knows that her little girl is safe and being cared for in a good place. A good thing for all three of them, I'm hoping.

I don't believe for a second that LE has written this off. Just because we don't hear what they're doing doesn't mean they aren't busting butt to find the scum. Since they aren't asking for the public's help, I'm inclined to think that maybe they already have a good idea as to his identity.

My comment about LE writing off a case referred to the case that was said to be made-up by the 4 y/o. I meant that they had closed that case fairly quickly. I figured that no more LE hours were being spent on that case as was said in an article about it.

Here is the post to which I responded:

I was agreeing with the prior poster about that prior case, not this one.

I certainly was not saying that this case of the little girl with horrible injuries who was assaulted and left for dead.

It does sound like our little girl is improving a bit, and it appears that LE is active on the case. What a thrill it would be to see this thing solved quickly!!

Thanks for the above. I was wondering how the 8 year old is doing. Possibly, even if she had a minor or small head injury, lost consciousness, etc., She may not recall much of the actual attack. That plus some good medical & psychological care may lead to a best case scenario outcome for her.

Thank you for your response. I'm feeling a bit dense at the moment. I didn't even notice the comment you were replying to. SMH at myself.
