Why don't you ask them? If they are old enough to have a conversation about life and its challenges they are old enough to ask them what they think of school shootings. And how so many kids get killed in the US compared to the rest of the world. If you don't want to talk about that, rather than some esoteric subject like life's challenges, why not? Life challenges usually include the subject in the trajectory, whereas getting killed in school effectively ends any challenge that child would have had in the future. I'd rather be talking about it than dealing with the aftermath of one. You mentioned in your earlier post how you'd read an article that stated children in other countries like Ireland, France, UK, Belgium, Korea, etc. have more fear I figure that the kids in those countries have the luxury of knowing a school shooter in their country is on par with finding a needle in a haystack. A lot of people, children included, have a fear of the unknown. Sadly, American children aren't in that group, when it comes to deadly school shootings.
