What age are these kids. It's a university but so many of the kids in the videos look like they're 14, quite young.
Read an article earlier about this shooting, some of the students at this university were in a high school shooting situation back in 2018.

Terrible thing for youngsters to face one time, let alone twice.
Never understood the gun laws in America.

@FBSaunders

The lockdown lasted for hours because law enforcement had to go door to door, checking each campus building for danger or victims. We caught some of it as it happened— this person was found hiding in a bathroom across from the Student Union:

Source close to the investigation tells me there was one shooter. Law enforcement reports the threat has been “neutralized.”

Officials have identified the shooter has 20 year-old Phoenix Ikner. Son of a Leon County Sheriff’s Officer.

@FBSaunders

Officials tell me Ikner’s mother is a school resource here in Tallahassee:

The alleged Florida State University gunman is the 20-year-old son of a local sheriff's deputy, according to authorities in Tallahassee.

Here's what we know about the suspect so far: https://abcnews.link/g0DtkHI

I have asked them. That is what I meant by "we talk." One is in HS and one upper elementary. They have drills in school, we talk about them. We will talk this evening about this shooting probably. School shootings are not fears that they seem to have. They are just another thing to be aware of.

Are they sensitized? That would be super concerning to me.

Some students at FSU shooting are Parkland massacre survivors. 😔

omg it's inconceivable to me
trauma like this twice over would make for a lifetime of PTSD IMO

Apparently, he frequently quotes the bible, the Jeremiah passage talks about how god has full control over the rise and fall of governments, and then he has a bunch of references to Trump, not sure if that has anything to do with what he did.
Not only was what he did atrocious, you also have to decipher their ramblings to figure out why he did it!! If they have a message or something to say, do they think this will get their message delivered? it's insane.

The suspect in the FSU shooting espoused white supremacist views and was removed from a political club, the group's president, Reid Seybold, said.
The president of Tallahassee State College's political discourse club said the suspect had been attending group meetings as recently as last semester, often sharing far-right views that made others uncomfortable.

It sounds like the mass murderer routinely attended at least 2 political clubs on campus. (More details at link.)

His mother is a resource deputy at Raa Middle School, and the handgun he used to commit the "heinous crime" was his mother's retired service weapon that she owned.

"Unfortunately, her son had access to one of her weapons," McNeil said. "We are continuing that investigation into how that weapon was used and what other weapons he perhaps may have had access to."

The FBI has opened up a tip line at FBI — Seeking information on FSU Shooting to track down more information from the hundreds, maybe even thousands of witnesses present at the multiple crime scenes inside and outside the building.

The university is also offering services to provide support to students who may need it. Members of the campus community or those affected can reach out to FSU's Counseling & Psychological Services team at (850) 644-TALK (8255).

A review of court records show Phoenix Ikner had a tumultuous childhood, with another woman — identified in the documents as his biological mother — accused of removing him from the US in violation of a custody agreement when he was 10 years old.
Leon County court records show that Ikner’s biological mother was accused of taking him to Norway when he was 10 years old, in violation of a custody agreement. The court documents refer to the child as Christian Eriksen, and say that he and his biological mother are both dual US-Norwegian citizens.

The shooting suspect later changed his name from Christian Eriksen to Phoenix Ikner, a law enforcement source confirmed to CNN.

So was he adopted?

I have no idea. While the CNN article had some info, I still feel quite confused re: his bio mom & his name change. MOO.

Quote from that article

It’s unclear whether the suspect’s biological mother has had contact with him over the last decade, and she did not respond to requests for comment. But just after the shooting, she posted on Facebook complaining that her son’s dad hadn’t responded when she wrote “to ask if everything is alright with my son, who studies at FSU.”

It definitely sounds like his bio mom is not the women who works as a deputy
