From your link, Donjeta:

Osceola's other two children are currently staying with their aunt.
Even though their investigation is just beginning, police said they suspect foul play.
If you have any information on Ahizya Osceola's death, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.

The embedded video (a must-watch, IMO) states Little Ahizya was found under a pile of clothes..... I just can't..... :tears:

It is the same way here (in Canada). We have 'reservations' where the natives live, and they have their own policing and their own branch of child protective services to oversee those cases. Whenever a native child comes into care, the 'band' may become involved. Regular police do not usually travel to the 'reserve' as that is native policing territory. The policing and branch of child protective services operate at a different level than the surrounding 'city' societies, with lower expectations of their clients and community. It is just simply 'known' about these things, and I think, imho, that the natives are very willing to take advantage of this. That is my guess as to why the native police force was called by this family, rather than the Hollywood police, when the child was reported missing, even though this family was clearly under the jurisdiction of Hollywood. I don't mean to sound prejudiced, I'm not. Some things, even if common knowledge, are not spoken about due to fear of being labelled prejudiced.

Growing up in Florida I have become aware that members of the Seminole tribe do not always deal with Florida LE (or other state offices ie DCF). I'm guessing that they do not recognize that they have jurisdiction over their members. I remember a case here in Pinellas where parents where accused of child neglect years ago and the Seminole Tribe stepped in when DCF took the kids and demanded that they be returned because of this. The kids where returned. So they must have some clout. The criminal investigation for this poor baby is in the jurisdiction of Hollywood, Florida and I hope that the tribe does not interfere and cause issues with the investigation.

----

Another sleepless night with thoughts of Little Ahizya, and all his short life represents. It hurts my heart to the core, to imagine his suffering, his search for love and safety. :tears:

When I see photos of his smile, I don't doubt he loved those around him, because that's what children who grow up in these environments do. I speak from direct experience. We don't ask to be born, and we don't get to choose our parents or caregivers.

This little boy, and his siblings, deserve to grow up in safety, to be cared for because that is their birthright, not because they are burdens. None of us know what Monday's hearing will bring, but I am bereft at the thought of these children having anything but the absolute best from this point forward.

Their brother will never again play with them, hug them, nor watch over them ON THIS EARTH. He can only be their Guardian Angel now, and those facts must forever be taken into consideration! Many mistakes have already been made, and those grave errors allowed someone to take his life.

As weary as one can become sleuthing the countless cases here on WS, I know I can't just give up on these children. My broken heart is lit by a fire I can't deny. It is the need for justice - knowing another precious light has been extinguished, another treasured voice silenced forever drives me to continue on in their name.

I stand here with my fellow WSers, brokenhearted, but resolved to continue on. We cannot allow the darkness of overtake the light.

Thank you, kimi, for your beautiful and touching words. How many times have we witnessed this type thing together? Certainly a number of them and only a precious few are resolved without death and deep sorrow on our parts. Our sweet boy with the (for me) beautiful name is happy and surrounded by love now. Maybe his death will shed just a drop or two more light on this madness that results in the cruelty and/or death of a sweet innocent child. I'm not trying to preach, but this from Matthew 18.3 is, IMO, a universal truth:
And He said: "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."

What a heartfelt, beautiful tribute, Kimi, Thank You.

Fly High Sweet Ahizya. You deserved so much more. :rose: :star: :rose:

thank god they removed the other children, now let's see an arrest :furious:

If the other two children are the stepmom's, they are probably safe. JMO

Yes, borndem, so SO many cases... Their names etched into our hearts .heartluv:

Thank you for posting this quote - it's absolutely perfect.

As we approach the Easter season, a time of such searing pain and loss, followed by the most amazing renewal, those words touched my heart. And yes, his name is absolutely beautiful to me as well :heartbeat:

Our faith is sometimes all I have to hold onto. I know in my heart Little Ahizya is truly home, along with all of the other Forever Angels we have lost.

I am so tired of seeing piles of teddy bears, balloons, and flowers outside a place where a child has died by a supposed caring adult's hand. I would rather see a sign outside that said "Kids removed due to criminal parents." I will pay for the sign and bring a stuffed animal to donate.

Brilliant, wendy, brilliant!

With 4 (or 5?) adults in the household, I have a feeling all are under suspicion and it will be a case of who tells on whom.

Nothing new to report. Just a rehash of what we already know. :waiting: impatiently for an update regarding today's hearing. I truly hope the ruling keeps Little Ahizya's siblling's safe! :please:

Better yet, word on an arrest, or movement on the case, would be tremendous! Come on, LE!

No need to apologize Queen Bee!

I wanted to throw my iPhone across the room when I read the article, TBH. :banghead: I mean, WTH have these writers been doing all dang weekend? I'm certain they could've found at least ONE new detail to share with us about this case, Ahizya's life, something, ANYTHING!!!!

I've been beside myself since the story broke. I feel like they think we've forgotten.

We haven't. We care. So report on him.

Rant over. as :censored: over here too.....

The police said Ahizya was found in an obscure place in a position he wouldn't have been able to put himself in. Then it was reported that he was found under a pile of clothes but that doesn't sound like an obscure location to me. Unless, it was under a pile of clothes inside a washer or dryer. Did I miss the exact location?

I would also like to know the exact location but they might have meant that he could not have piled the clothes on top of himself the way they were placed.jmo

The latest about Ahizya on the news at noon:

Dad hired an attorney for the shelter hearing, which will be at 1:30.

Family was interviewed regarding Ahizya's death.

Police suspect foul play.

No arrests have been made.

Sigh.

The autopsy is obviously complete, but cause of death has not been released. I guess they don't want to release that information until they make an arrest? I don't know. There's a lot of unknowns.

And FWIW, the report that he was found under a pile of clothes has only come from one news channel - Ch 7. It's our FOX network and the least credible of the four main ones. I'm not saying it's not accurate, but no one else has reported the location he was found that I've seen.

Yeah, I'm not believing that report was entirely accurate unless that pile of clothes was in the washing machine or something......under a pile of clothes is hardly a place a child "wouldn't be able to get themselves into." It sounds like a very easy spot for hide and seek, actually!

"Under a pile of clothes" reminds me of the 2012 heart-breaking story of Zyia:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/nat...-clothes-grandmother-closet-article-1.1105791

A baby girl in Detroit was discovered dead beneath a pile of clothes in her grandmother’s closet on Saturday morning, police said.

Police cadaver dogs found the body of 17-month-old Zyia Turner more than 12 hours after her family reported her missing.

The family called the death an accident.

I agree. And he wasn't found until the second search of the house. If it was a pile of clothes on the floor, surely the police would have sifted through it the first go-around. The police chief emphasized the "obscure" location and angle Ahizya was in. There's got to be more to it than a mere pile of clothes.
