I get the feeling he must have stabbed AL en route during the pursuit or just prior, is that how you guys are taking it?

(Plus I can't see officers not having approached the car fast enough to intervene if he was doing it then - especially since he then got out and stabbed himself in front of them...that seems like far more time than would have happened, seeming she had to have been stabbed earlier)

The father of the 16-year-old Florida girl who was found in Lafayette Wednesday night after a 40-mile police chase said his daughter and his family have "a long healing process" ahead.

Myers stabbed AL10 times and then began stabbing himself.

LE said it is NOT an abduction. That it was jointly planned after he manipulated her.

At least they're charging him with attempted murder, but sure seems like they ought to be able to add in something tied to the grooming, etc.

Her poor dad:

"To hear your daughter had been stabbed, I wouldn't wish that on anyone," R (dad) L said. "My daughter is strong. I know she is strong willed. With the community's help and help from others I know she will pull through this.

"I ask that you protect AL's privacy and my family's privacy," he continued. "This will be a long healing process. She is a minor, she is 16, and she is my daughter."

I listen to the scanner a lot, and I hear a lot of failure to yields and pursuits.

But it's sure the rare one where you get someone intentionally crashing into things to try to roadblock officers!

This guy is seriously evil!

It culminated in Lafayette when Myers stopped after riding on the sparking rims of four blown tires, climbed on the truck hood and yelled for police to kill him before stabbing himself, authorities said.

The canine got him and he was tasered (deserved more than that!)

More on her wounds. She is lucky to be alive! 8 in the torso/chest?!

Police then found a wounded AL in the disabled truck's cab. Myers had apparently stabbed her eight times in the front of her torso and twice in the back.

She wasn't even supposed to be at work!

Domingue wasn't even supposed to be working at the Tiger Truck Stop on Wednesday night.

Before heading in to cover for another employee, she was browsing the Facebook page of CNN host Nancy Grace and came across a video segment about AL's disappearance.

Right before closing out her register, Mr. Evil came in.

His face looked familiar, but Domingue couldn't place him. Then she saw AL &#8212; instantly recognizing her from her close-cropped hair, although authorities said the teen had dyed her hair darker in the past week.

So, so amazing! I hope someday she's able to meet AL and her family.

What a quick thinking gal, too!

Domingue directed the two to another register. She fumbled with her cell phone, looking for a Crime Stoppers number. The two headed outside. Domingue followed, watching as they headed across the parking lot and got in a truck. She flagged down an arriving sheriff's car.

He's going to face charges in two states it seems:

Myers will likely face charges in Louisiana, including attempted murder, aggravated property damage and resisting arrest, authorities said.

He already faces several charges in Florida, including interference with child custody, attempted unlawful sexual activity with a minor and traveling to meet a minor.

I will be interested to hear if AL says anything when she is healed. IF they did plan this together, was there a pact that they didn't want to live through it, if it went bad? **MOO I would hope that isn't the case and even so, she is at an easily influenced age, I hope she makes a full recovery.

So I'm reading how the chase happened, and I'm still left wondering when/how/who stabbed the victim? Because it would be highly unlikely he would be able to whilst being chased with all that chaos.

The RSO only had two stab wounds where AL is reported to have multiple wounds.
Has it been ascertained that she was stabbed by the RSO or are her wounds self inflicted?

Being without her medication would could have sent her into a psychosis.
Plus her facebook page showed she was heading down the wrong path. I don't like it when they show photos of themselves with guns. Seems she was right into weed as well.

This does not exonerate the RSO actions. He was probably grooming her for his interests. JMOO

then he wanted to die himself because he does not want to go back to jail.

AL, the Valrico teenager found stabbed after authorities chased and caught the sex offender she was traveling with, is now coping with a blood clot and remains hospitalized in Louisiana...

"Since she hasn't had her meds in so long for bipolar, she is hallucinating as well and having panic attacks," her mother wrote Monday morning. "The only good thing is that she doesn't remember accident or stabbing. I will talk to her about it when she is stable and better."

Tuesday morning, she wrote that A was undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot from her leg.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives have obtained an additional arrest warrant for 41-year-old Steven Myers, a registered sex offender, charging him with five counts of using a computer, electronics (cell phone) to seduce and solicit a minor for sex.

The warrant will be served on Myers who is currently being held in a Lafayette Louisiana County jail. There's been no time set on when Myers will be transferred from Louisiana to face his criminal charges in Hillsborough County.

I'm not understanding why MSM continues to identify the minor victim by name. She needs as much privacy as possible now.

BBM. I wondered about that, too. ITA she needs privacy as she heals and gets the help she needs. Lord knows, it's hard enough being a teenager without having your name and pictured plastered all over the news. Bad judgement call on MSM, imo.
