People come from all walks of lives, none of us are perfect. I don't think this family are guilty because they live on a trailer park, or because there have been arrests for drugs etc. I think Misty is lying and perhaps Ronald but not because of their lifstyle do I believe that. It is an insight to who they are but if you looked at the McCanns before Madeleine went missing, who would ever have guessed they'd leave their 3 kids under the age of 4 locked in an apt in a foreign country and not only that but they are imo responsible for her demise in more ways than one. Upstanding citizens, respected doctors ha, don't make me laugh! It makes not one difference IMO.

little_miss_smart,

i agree with you...neglect is neglect..intentional or not...No matter what your economic background.

I Really believe Ron is devastated and trying to the best he can to raise his children. When he made the comment about making an honest living...that says alot imo

GF maybe....unintentional neglect...just don't think so...we'll see

Praying they bring Haleigh home soon. thank-you to those out searching.

I would agree that a lot of them are rotten, but not because of the standards..it is because of underpaid teachers for starters, children who could care less, and parents who could care less. :blowkiss:

I agree. Public school teachers make about 1/4 of what they make in other parts of the country. It is disgusting.

O/T but I know those here also followed Caylee's case. I wanted you all to know my husband was in Orlando 2/11. He took pix of the make shift memorial site and the they are beautiful. They really capture how much love everyone has had for this angel. I created an album and I hope you will take a look.

Those are some very powerful pictures. Thank you and thank DH!!

OT...
Being a born and bred Georgian, I have some knowledge on the educational system in the south ... my experience with the school system growing up was good mostly because my Grandparent's worked hard to send me to private school. The public school system in Chatham County, Ga. (Savannah) was very low on the list back then, not sure where they are today as I don't live there anymore. I agree that there are many factors that play into the equation, pay of teachers, family responsibility and interest in their child's education, poverty level, etc...I feel today that one of the most important factors in a child's educational success is the attitude and involvement of the parent's, they can make or break a child's interest and motivation to learn.

Retired elementary school teacher here. Taught 30 years--grades 2 through 6.
I am in Missouri and we ranked really low on the pay scale per state. We also have MANY rural low income areas.
You can google for info state by state.
We were in the lower and always knew we would at least outrank Arkansas.
Success for a child depends on many things--even the child's ability to learn.
Let us all avoid generalities.

Praise to families who care for the education of their kids and promote high standards.

The public schools in the south are not funded well. My H.S. in the Midwest was ranked above all the private schools. Down here, the opposite is true. I'm not saying that all public school systems here are rotten but a lot of them are. Your son comes from a home where a value is placed on education and he receives support from you. That is not true for every student. I don't have any friends in TN or GA that send their children to public schools. My mother is a retired teacher in the Midwest, she tests my daughter yearly to make sure she is up to par b/c the standards here are just not as good.

Illinois ranks 47th in the US system well below Tennessee and Indiana. All Midwest States are not great school systems.

I think it's just the procedure you have to go thru to get a public defender (i.e. you can't afford a lawyer)

Indigent: Someone who is unable to afford to pay the fees and costs related to a case. A party must make a motion in the trial court or administrative agency asking to be declared indigent. Any questions about this motion should be directed to the trial court or administrative agency.

Thanks. I forgot that it could be referring to the court.
