Hello everyone. I have been lurking on this case because of life situations that are keeping me very busy right now! I never go more than five minutes without thinking about Haleigh, and PRAYING SO HARD that she is found! Here are my 30,000 foot observations thus far, from lurking:

1. The family is somewhat dysfunctional on several levels - so is mine. Sadly, this dysfunctional family leads to opportunity for harm to any children living in that environment. THAT is the exact reason, that I live my life differently from much of my family.....I have children, and dang it! - I am doing my best to give them the illusion that life is perfect. They will grow up and realize otherwise soon enough.

2. I believe the father does NOT know what happened to his little girl. He seems genuinely concerned and perplexed IMHO.

3. The girlfriend is a bit of an enigma. She seems truly overwhelmed and lost in this situation....but her story does not make any sense to me. I am not sure I buy it, but then I remember Jessica Lunsford, Elizabeth Smart, Riley Fox, Danielle Van Dam, and Polly Klass to mention just a few who were taken from their homes while relatives slept nearby. Without being disrespectful to Misty.....I just don't see how she could have harmed little Haleigh, and gotten rid of the body so effectively - with another small child in the home - without SOMEONE noticing something! I believe Ronald Jr. is going to be key to this investigation. I guarantee you he has information that LE has already used to direct the direction of the investigation.

4. Evidence: The light on in the kitchen is the biggest hiccup for me. WHO leaves a light on when abducting a child; knowing other people are sleeping in the residence? That is just so strange I can't come up with an explanation. The backdoor propped open with a cinder block - the better to carry someone out without having to open the door? This level of planning doesn't jive with leaving the light on, however. Not buying it....biggest hole in the story IMHO.

Round and round I go.....who to believe...... I just want Haleigh to be OK... There are enough questions and other documented cases of actual abductions in similar situations to warrant a MUCH more thorough surveillance and investigation of neighbors IMHO. I am not buying the story, but I am very open minded to the possibility of a stranger abubduction. I sure wish I was there to help search and perform surveillance. :waitasec:

Have they said if they got the school's attendance records yet? And if she was in school Mon., or when her last date of attendance actually was?

The cops have said absolutely nothing about school, timelines, polygraphs, etc..This sure is not Orange County for sure.

I hope that the searchers do not underestimate the ability of these pervs to make a structure to hide their deeds. Five years ago, I began researching these cases, having been a crime victim myself, and I mentioned that a victim could be hidden underground in a bunker of sorts. That idea was readily dismissed as being highly unlikely. Since then, there have been many cases worldwide of just such a scenario.

In this instance, I am thinking more along the lines that someone could build a underground structure such as in this case in SC:

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,214302,00.html

http://media.www.bgnews.com/media/s...ding.Girl.In.Underground.Bunker-2971586.shtml

I remember the victim said she could hear the footsteps of the searchers, but they passed right by on the surface.

I certainly hope that the searchers are cognizant of what can be concealed merely by a plywood board and some leaves.

I know they have infrared and the ground probes.

it would be very expensive to build an underground bunker in Satsuma, or most of florida for that matter. pick up a shovel and after reaching 9" or so you have got water. more so cause they are right up against the St. John's.
table pressure.

I am very disappointed with the change in Greta's show.
She became noticed in the OJ trial of 1994 and took
off from there. She has always did crime until this
political cycle. Her bias shows more than Hannity's bias..
I don't think she does politics nearly as well as crime,
since she is an attorney and has a legal background.
^i^

No, not on Greta. She didn't even cover it. Her whole show was about the plane crash in Buffalo and the stimulus bill.

I wish Greta would decide what kind of show she is. Crime? Political? General News? I liked her better when she was covering cases like Nancy Grace.

Many are shocked by the way almost everyone in this family lives..I don't think that = intolerance in most cases.

Not "judging" people but their choices and actions. Or are you suggesting we condone the behavior of these "adults" no matter the cost to the children?

Criminal histories for relativly minor offenses, drug use of minor drugs (the pot is the only thing confirmed, before the kids were born), legal minor by the laws of FL living with a man she seems to genuinely care about and be cared for by, women that made a few bad choices that resulted in children, stragne behavior under extreme amoutns of stress, consdiering educaion to be a waste if they are satisfied with their lives...all are very common.
I have a record for minor offenses, a drug history from before my kids were born, and admittedly after, (although I did seek help and have been clean for three years), moved in with my 25 year old bf at 15, got a job and had my daughter 2 years later, have 4 kids with 2 fathers, got my GED (although I used to get into college). Does that make me a bad person? I hope not. I am not perfect, and neither are the people we see here. They are not the Cleaver's but that doesn't make them worthy of our scorn and disrespect. Plenty of us have skeletons in our closets that the public would love to pick apart.

I do have my doubts about the gf, but those are based on gut feeling, not her education level, family situation or economic status.

Great... if you put it all behind you and got on a different path. But 2002 was hardly the end of this dad's poor choices, the majority of which continue to effect his children. People can live however they want--if it's not jeopardizing their childrens' safety and stability or putting them at risk. JMO

On the timeline info thread I see nothing. Seriously, I have four children, I can tell you what time they do homework, what time they come in from play, who they play with, where that person lives and who the parents are at that residence....I mean, for Monday it looks like the kids played outside until 5:30 and then nothing. What time did they get dinner? What did they eat? When was bathtime? What story did they get before bed....I just don't understand.
Children are a gift, God lends them to us but for a time....

Thanks, couldn't have said it better. JMO

Regardless of who was raising Haleigh or under what conditions she was being raised, I noticed how genuinely happy and carefree she looks in her pictures. That says something good about her life and some of the people in it. IMHO

They must know more than they are willing to tell the public:

"
The sheriff's office said that no additional volunteers are needed for the search and that the operation did not "require a thousand people."

So let me tell ya what I think...lol. First the "nuttin" presser. And the fact some are no longer talking to the media. Now this. Some body is fixin to tell all....or may be in the process of telling all. Or I am totally wrong and it means nothin'.

Because that is one STRANGE statement to make.

Yes. Kitchen light is bothersome. IF you were someone sneaking in, you would not turn any lights on. You would also not know if by turning that light on, you wouldn't be waking a sleeping dog.

This just looks like something done by someone who was in the house. I just can't wrap my mind around either one of these people harming this kid.

I'd like to see the 2004 charge, too. IMO, the 2002 charges are being blown out of proportion. It was ordered "Nolle Prosequi". This means:

nolle prosequi
(no-lay pro-say-kwee) n. Latin for "we shall no longer prosecute," which is a declaration made to the judge by a prosecutor in a criminal case (or by a plaintiff in a civil lawsuit) either before or during trial, meaning the case against the defendant is being dropped. The statement is an admission that the charges cannot be proved, that evidence has demonstrated either innocence or a fatal flaw in the prosecution's claim or the district attorney has become convinced the accused is innocent.

I think he's being unfairly judged. Bringing in the entire family's rap sheet is unfair as well.

I don't think the Dad is involved with the daughter being gone, so I don't personally care that much about his record in regards to the case.

The 2002 charges were very serious, that is not a small amount of recreational drugs. The case was not prosecuted and that could be for many reasons. My money would be on someone involved in the investigation or arrest making an error that would have kept their most important evidence out. Prosecutor says he can't go forward without it. The Kobe Bryant rape case was closed the same way when the girl refused to testify.

The 2004 charge is for an amount in excess of 20 grams. That is not really a personal use amount either. I think it should be legalized personally, but this boy has had a lot of run ins with the police. With a rap sheet that long, think about how many times he didn't get arrested during these run ins.

And then the rap sheets on the rest of the family, it can be relevant to the case because it is an indication of the types of people that spending time/have access to the kids.

Wasn't the woman sitting with Misty when she first talked on camera re the events of Monday nite her mother? Her sis-in-law refers to her as her kids nana. She's the same woman in the New Years Eve biscuit picture.

She is called either nana or Lee Lee

Here is a link with her holding baby Layla: http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/ind...dID=78857035&albumID=2567285&imageID=40896218

I haven't been able to find the link to the video of her sitting with Misty while Misty talked on camera the first time, but it is out there.

That says to me that there is no rush to find Haleigh, does LE and Tim think she's dead already?
TES have more teams? It is said on Domenicks thread that TES is on way to Arizona? #20 http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79577

Hey LancelotLink! It is indeed hard to wrap your mind around someone who is loving and in charge of a child bringing that child harm - but it happens. You are a relatively new member with a LOT of postings during that time, so you are obviously a student of True Crime and human nature....sadly; the horrible happens all too often.

Agree. I think they are all the same person - Misty's mother.

I just had time to quickly log on to see what's up before V-day occupies the rest of my evening but would one of my fabulous fellow WS'ers care to give me the Reader's Digest version of the latest in the case? Anything major to report?

The only thing I really got from the press conference was that the "items of interest" found on the search yesterday are now thought to be nothing
