This case is reminding me of a case we had down here quite a few years ago. It was a "mom and dad" , they had 3 kids. They killed the little girl - can't remember how. Anyway, the "cooked this plan up". Mom went to the Swap Shop. For those that don't know - the Swap Shop is an open air flea market - HUGE HUGE HUGE place. It's situated on a 15 screen drive in property - Swap Shop during the day - drive in at night. Anyway, mom goes to Swap Shop. Runs to security and is frantic that "someone just stole her child". Well, needless to say, all he77 breaks loose. But a few hours later - LE is not "seeing" this child on surveillance with the mom - NO WHERE - and they can track her from the time she parked. Turned out what "caught" them? It was a Home Depot clerk. She saw the news - saw the mom and dad - and remembered she had them come in - they bought a shovel, some lime (I think) and a nice potted flower!!!! Yep - you know where this is going now - they had gone and buried her somewhere. I think the mom cracked after the Home Depot lady came forward. And, get this - they had even taken the other kids (little kids) with them to Home Depot to buy the shovel!!!!

Nothing surprises me anymore.

My feeling is that they are both covering up. MC seems genuinely scared - of making the wrong statement to media. She seems so beaten down by him. I listened many times to the 911 call. She is so unsure of herself and frightened - of HIM. He is overly dramatic with his ranting, etc. A Dad would be out looking for her with flashlight, car, phone and pounding on doors. He is far too focused on threats to kill somebody. It's as if he already knows what happened to her. Waay too much drama and indignation. In a case like this, there is drama enough without trying to create more.

He is trying too hard to make his case. Something bad happened to Haleigh and Misty is the poor schlepp who got stuck being the "cover" person. Any real parent would have called 911 THEMSELVES and not leave it to a stumbling bumbling teenager to try and explain the situation clearly. The whole 911 call was about as clear as mud. The dispatcher had to ask to speak to him. Good grief, I would have snatched the phone away from MC immediately. He knows enough to realize that was just the dispatcher on the other end, not the officers on the way out there.
I find it odd in the sense that his own mother is a dispatcher from what we have learned (for another county). You would think he would be more aware of the way it works from that perspective. You call 911 and they take the information to relay to the officers responding. He acts like he doesn't quite get that part. He isn't a stranger to LE from any side.

I thought it was interesting on Greta that Ron said he was told he passed, and Greta said something about them both passing...but Misty came back and said "They (LE) really didn't say much to me". I only read the transcript, so I don't know what kind of look that yielded from Ron when Misty said that...

On NG Ron was asked the same question and he said "I passed with flying colors" and then added that "Misty passed too". In that interview with GVS when Misty said "They really didn't say much to me". I didn't notice Ron's expression. I just noticed that he looked very uncomfortable whenever Misty was asked a question. Like he was just waiting for the other shoe to drop. I think that was the last interview either of them gave.

Another reason for a Haleigh forum....the longer this drags on...we have been told that LE reads here correct? They are not going to dig through these general threads. ie...We will be of no help this way.

No help at all. No one is going to wade through all of this.

The girlfriends story is still not sitting right with me. Just the way she mentions that she was cleaning; the blanket situation; how she would sometimes use that door to take out trash (cover for fingerprints?) even though Ron said they very rarely (2x) had used that back door; the kitchen light being on... I don't know, she's confusing at best.

And I was reading a Greta interview transcript yesterday where Misty & Ron say slightly different things about how she came to find Haleigh missing -- not anything that was a BIG difference, but a small difference... and since she's the last one to have seen Haleigh, it's big enough to note. Could have been just too stressed out to say it straight, I don't know. I'll see if I can find the link.

I just don't see that Ron would hurt Haleigh, then go back to work. He seems genuine in his pain. Granted, he may have some major issues (perhaps in the past now - drugs?) and not be the perfect dad but I think he has absolutely no clue where his little girl is. If he knew, he'd be there... doing whatever it took to bring her home.

But in the 911 call, the way he uses the word "him", like I'll kill him or whatever... I wonder if he didn't have an idea at least of you would want to take his little girl away. :(

MyFox Tampa has an article from the Police Report, it has the parts that were blanked out..116 Tyler Street? Did we figure out whose home that was? Also, I am going to bold sections that raise more suspicions in my mind..

I then made contact with Misty Croslin, Ronalds girlfriend. Misty told me that she had put the children to bed at approximately 8pm. MIsty said that they were sleeping in HER BED, and when she laid down at around 10:30pm both children were still in bed. I asked MIsty who the other child was and she advised the other child was Haleighs brother. Misty old me that she woke up just before 3am to get a drink and she noticed that Haleigh was missing, however the OTHER child was still in bed. MIsty ran around the residence franticallly looking for haleigh and that she noticed the back door was stanfing open. MIsty said that she was sure the back door had been locked prior to her going to bed.

Mist said that at approximately 5 minutes after she noticed Haleigh missing, Ronal arrived home. MIsty said that as soon as she told Ronald HAleigh was missing, Ronald told Misty to call 911, which she did. I asked MIsty if she ever took Haleigh on a walk, and Misty advised that she sometimes walked with Haleigh to 116 Tyler Street to visit her family.

Her saying that Haleigh was in bed with her in the first police reports, this would explain why she said that Haleigh was only 3-4 inches away from her on the interview with Greta. Then she says she noticed Haleigh missing before she realized the door was opened..???
So which is it? Was the child in the bed with her and did she notice the door open first or the child missing first?

O/T but CA had over a hundred general discussion threads. I think the mods are right, until we can get some facts there is not much sense in breaking it down into sub categories. We do have a few sub cats here on this missing board. I'm just not that upset about it because there isn't anything hard and clear yet. But if and when there are sub threads then by golly we have a lot of sleuthing already to jump off with! :)

(Bold by me)

I know a guy who thought he was dating a 21-year-old. I think he was late 20's at the time. The girl's mother was aware they were dating and that he was over 21. He was even helping the mother catch up on some bills.

He decided to end the relationship, and surprise surprise! The mother gets ticked that he will no longer be helping her out, so she informs him the girl is only 15 and she is going to press charges against him.

His court-appointed attorney told him to take the plea agreement offered, because it was his word against the mother and the girl (who had suddenly changed the whole scenario...supposedly he knew the girl's age, the mother did not know they were dating, the guy was the mother's friend, etc.) He took the deal, and now he's forever branded an SO, although he had no clue he was doing anything wrong, nor did he have a clue what accepting that deal would entail.

No offense, but your friend is lying to you. No way is a defense attorney going to tell him to take the plea unless the prosecution can prove he knew how old she was.

If he knew the family as well as he claims, he knew she wasn't 21. 15 year olds go to high school, they can't voluntarily drop out. 21 year olds have drivers licenses and drive cars. 15 year olds just have a permit to drive with an adult. 21 year old girls go to college or have full-time jobs. They can't wait to move out of their parents' home. !5 year olds can't legally hold a job.

Unless your friend is well below the average IQ, he knew how old she was, he is a pervert, and paid Mom's bills to keep her quiet. Mom should be in jail as well.

If you have daughters and he pretends to be interested in dating you, please, don't fall for it!

Wishing you well,
Susan

So they both waited awhile to call police?
Brother lives at that address iifc.

ETA We know the time of the 911 call was 3:27, so the time is off. Did Ron get home sooner than he normally does?

I thought Misty had to use the bathroom -- but now it's get a drink? And am I totally confused, or did she not make a phone call to her brother before Ronald got home? I thought I remembered him saying early on something like - don't call your brother, call 911. I need more coffee to keep this all straight!

Yes and then it changes
In the GVS interview
Misty says she gets up to go to the bathroom and notices the kitchen light on , goes to see why and then notices the back door open then goes to check on Haleigh, never makes it to bathroom.
GVS asks how close Haleigh was sleeping to her and Misty says 3-4 inches and Ronald who wasn't even there supposedly says NO 3-4 feet.
Now it has been discussed Misty isn't all that bright but I do believe the girl knows the difference in feet and inches.

Even if she woke up at 3 am...
In the initial report she told the officer that when she woke up she noticed that Haleigh was gone, she then ran frantically through the house to find her when she noticed the door open.. 3:27 was the phone call. I know for a fact that home is not big enough to run through for 27 minutes.. I would like to know if Junior was still asleep when the authorities got there. Why would she be standing at the door if she really thought someone came in that house? What about Junior..even dad said he seen her at the door, not her holding Junior. She apparently wasn't afraid for him?

I really hate to complain about the LE of that town/county but I don't feel confident at this point that they are doing what's best for Haleigh. I think they saw the media circus that the Caylee case became and decided from the start they were not going to give info out as a way to protect themselves and their investigation. But IMO holding EVERYTHING back is not helpful to finding Haleigh either. I'll just apologize in advance as I know this will not be a popular opinion, and gosh I really hate that I feel this way right now, I really don't want to criticize..... just calling it as I see it at this moment. Hope I'm wrong. (Got zero hours of sleep last night so overlook the spelling errors please. Maybe my judgement re: LE will change with a little sleep, who knows?)

Here are some snippets from the JVM show that aired last night. Of course this is just media coverage and we have not seen Misty's official statement to LE but it's interesting.

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0902/16/ijvm.01.html

First we hear from Bio-Mom:

"VELEZ-MITCHELL: There are a lot of discrepancies that your mother was concerned about, and one particularly the sleeping arrangements. The latest that we`ve heard was that in the home at the time of little Haleigh`s disappearance, Misty, the father -- your ex`s girlfriend, was sleeping in bed with Junior, your son, and that Haleigh was in another bed in the same room. But originally, we heard all three were sleeping in the same bed.

Do you know why we`re hearing these different stories, Crystal? I mean, do you know why the story keeps changing?

SHEFFIELD: No, I don`t. I`ve wondered myself, because I -- I was told that at first they was all three in the same room. And then I heard that Haleigh and Junior were both in their own room. And then I heard it was Misty and Junior in Misty and Ronald`s room. I mean, I -- I`ve heard so many different things, I -- I don`t know."

Then from a reporter: JENNIFER BAUER, REPORTER, WJXT-TV

"BAUER: Well, you know, we keep asking and we`ve asked detectives over and over again. And all they tell us is that they can only base their information on the interviews that they conducted with the people themselves.

So the information that they have is the information that they got hours after the little girl was reported missing. That of course is the information that we got. I don`t know why the story keeps changing.

I`ve only heard two versions. We heard originally that they were all sleeping in one bed. And then we heard a couple of days later that maybe little Haleigh was in the same room but in a different bed. Now we`re hearing maybe --

VELEZ-MITCHELL: That would be such a terrible -- what are you hearing now?

BAUER: That they were in the same bed again maybe."

Like I said above this is only from the media, and not LE.

This report about Misty sleeping WITH them instead of the same room with them is the reason some of us accuse her of changing her story, no? Some news stations are in such a hurry, they get the "scoop" wrong, IMO. Good Morning everyone, I have been reading the 10 threads written while I was dozing. Didnt want to comment until I read everything, I still think Misty is protecting a family member, and is afraid that she will lose her home with Ron if the truth is known. Maybe she doesnt know WHICH one she is protecting, but I think she was "out" when this happened.
As "communication challenged" as I think she is, I dont think it would be hard to say
"I dont know"
"I didnt do it"
"I didnt open the back door"
"I was asleep"
In her Greta interview, she said "the only way for someone to come in the back door was to pick the lock" w-h-a-t-e-v-e-r
ooh, did I say good morning?
