Imo, a cruise ship is the absolute last place human traffickers would seek victims. They want people who won't be looked for.
My problem with this is the lack of any additional sources of information cited.Except we know for a fact it happens on cruise ships.

Unless that is the only way to lock the cabin door. Locking the door would be a natural thing to do, pretty much automatic. So was the deadbolt locking beyond a normal locking mechanism and procedure?
Welcome to Websleuths @ChantNLI'm new to this site and this story caught my eye. also dont know if my response is under the correct topic. We just watched a doc about a girl who dissapeared from a cruiseship on Netf. and I thought this was about the same story but this is different. I can imagine there is some traffic going around on these ships of woman its whiped under the floor as a runaway story.
I hope we get some clarification about the 'demons in the past' comment from Anna's grandmother. ''Past demons' are something I expect to hear from an adult recovering from alcoholism or substance abuse, or maybe a released prison inmate. Not typically a phrase used to describe a 16 year old.“Demons in his past” Though open to interpretation as to what that might mean wrt TH, still, imo those are very strong words considering a sixteen year old without a whole lot of life experience. At any rate, many, many people struggle with (and many overcome) their demons and manage to not kill anyone, let alone a family member.
At any rate, since (allegedly) having killed his stepsister, every time TH looks in the mirror he’ll now see a very real Demon staring back at him.
So senseless and sad. Another beautiful innocent life with so much promise taken much too soon in a most horrific way. Heartbreaking to think about how scared she must have been and her suffering, poor young woman. Unfathomable.
May justice be swift and harsh.
RIP Anna

I suspect "demons" is being used euphemistically to minimize and explain the suspect's apparent past of behavioral issues. Whether those reported behavioral issues are rooted in a mental health problem or a failure by adults around him to address bad behavior appropriately when it occurred is still to be seen IMO.I hope we get some clarification about the 'demons in the past' comment from Anna's grandmother. Mental health issues are the only thing I can think of that would apply in this case.

Having been on 30+ cruises since the mid-1980s, on several different cruise lines, I would also like to point out that stateroom doors lock automatically when closed. Cabin doors can be accessed only with a key card or medallion. When you enter your stateroom, the heavy door usually closes all the way on its own. If not, you push it closed, and it is locked and can be opened only with a key card or medallion. Stateroom stewards can also access the cabin with their keycard, but they cannot open a door that is double-locked. The deadbolt or night lock can only be accessed by shipboard personnel. It is NOT a normal locking mechanism, not when other users of the cabin are outside. When cabin door is deadbolted it cannot be opened with the key card (unless it is a master key the guests have no access to). So deadbolting the door instead of just shutting it, means he wanted to prevent other people from entering. Why if he just wanted to ogle her a bit?
I'm still trying to digest what Anna's Grandmother said about the step brother. It gave the appearance that she was taking up for him.I hope we get some clarification about the 'demons in the past' comment from Anna's grandmother. If we are depending upon Anna's family coming forward in court to testify, we may be disappointed.I have seen many posts commenting that no friends of any of the teens are publicly speaking out. I am not surprised. Most teens are now social media savvy. In many cases, posters on non-moderated sites have questioned witnesses as being suspects. In some cases, even making death threats.
I suspect the stepbrother may be in a controlled facility (not staying with an un-named relative). So, there may be no great rush to make an arrest. There has to be some reason he wasn't detained leaving the ship.
I fear that if a trial takes place, we will find out that things are more complicated, and more disturbing, than many suspect. It is simply conjecture on my part, but it feels like we are missing a great deal of the story.
Maybe we will learn something from the custody case.If we are depending upon Anna's family coming forward in court to testify, we may be disappointed.
Since there is an on going custody case, there are folks that may very well HAVE to appear. They will have to answer questions under oath. So this is a little different than many death cases. The FBI/DOJ can watch these hearing and see what people say. These folks will have to be very careful because they don't know what the FBI already knows and if it will fit their stories. I am guessing there will either be family members that will see jail time for obstruction. If we are depending upon Anna's family coming forward in court to testify, we may be disappointed.
I do wonder if, given the lack of urgency by the FBI, the boy isn't already in some sort of custody arrangement in a state juvenile situation. It doesn't sound like he is out and about, nor should he be.I’m guessing the stepbrother was Baker Acted for 3 days, stabilized with meds as needed and sent to live with a relative. He could be held for longer if necessary steps were taken. I highly doubt that tho. They’ve put him in hiding essentially and he’s home schooling online to finish his high school diploma. JMO
