Most likely trafficking, sadly. Maybe they're just covering all their bases but maybe they suspect she was transported across state lines.

I've seen or heard nothing about this child unfortunately. Every day I drive down our street past her aunt and uncles and wonder about her.

However seems a bit far fetched. One is similar but who knows.
Unlikely that the cat was disposed of there, if we think of the worst, probably she was allowed to keep it to keep her calm
JMO but does not look good at all
