I agree, Dani_md. I just searched (again!) through Google News Archives and found this (have to pay so I only read the start:

Article: Missouri closes files on crimes with no arrest.

Branson Missouri

Missouri's Sunshine Law got a little dimmer last month when Gov. Mel Carnahan signed the state's crime bill. A last-minute amendment added by Rep. William Hosmer of Springfield closes police files on all crimes for which no arrest has been made, thereby making scrutiny of unsolved cases virtually impossible. Before Hosmer's amendment, most police files were open to the public with the ...

So *that's* a giant pain in the backside!! Does anyone have a subscription to a newspaper archive they could look up back to 92-93 in Branson, MO?

Please forgive me everyone but I was flipping through some old documents last night and I found the BOLO and crime description on the Missouri attempted murder and I am attaching all of the documents here. It includes the description of the assault, the victims names, two composite drawings (presumably b/c there were two girls?). It also includes mug shots of an inmate in LA who was bragging about attacking two women in Missouri. He is definitely not my assailant and when I read the crime description of their attack, I can definitely say the first thing that comes to mind in my case is NOT that my attacker looked muscular and fit (then again MOST of the time he was behind me anyway so who knows).

Also...that is just awful for these two Missouri girls that their case had to be closed due to some stupid law!!!! This makes me very upset for victims in Missouri!!!

I guess if there is no resemblance between RCC and your attacker then it's not him, but RCC appears to have been born in October 1958, making him 33 at the time of the attack - right within your age range.

Cox is shown first, then Woods.

Cymro that last picture is absolutely chilling. Absolutely chilling. People on here talk about certain pictures of some that just gives people the chills....I'm jaded or desensitized and many don't do that for me but that last picture sure does.

Wow.

To Tracy, I agree with the assertations that this guy was experienced. You were fortunate, you were the one who got away. Other women may not have been so fortunate. By finding this guy, not only will you have closure but also possibly bring him in off the streets...which will help bring other women closure as well.

Your experience has definitely reminded me I need to re-go through Gavin De Becker's books again.

I was wondering if you looked into Joseph Peter Smith. He is the one who murdered the Brucia girl. He also had attempted kidnapping on his rap sheet. I believe he moved to Florida from New Hampshire? in 1993.

This is 13 yrs later so he is bound to look different. he would have been 23 or 24 at the time.

She says that RCC doesn't look like her attacker, but the timeline for her attack and the FL and LA connection are interesting because FL and LA come up in the 3 M/W case.

Maybe if we can help her, we can find the answers to our missing girls! Tracy, I am in Springfield, MO, not too far from Branson.

How can I help?

Thanks Kathee, and thanks Tracy for the info about the two women in MO. It gives us names and a better description of the perpetrator, but as you say, he doesn't sound "corn-fed" (lol, I love that description!).

the other thing about RCC is that he has brown eyes, correct? My perpetrator most definitely has blue eyes. He had blond, thin, wavy, unkept hair.

Yes, I remember this case very well and really most high profile cases in FL and I looked at this guy back when it happened and I do not believe he is my man either.....

Please keep my case in your prayers as I am praying all the time now that FDLE is able to get some DNA off of my clothes, put it into CODIS and find my guy very very soon. I also wanted to tell you that I spent a long time speaking with the DA in TX on BWW yesterday and he definitely had ties to FL and went to school here. His DNA is in CODIS but I just pray (1) they get some DNA off the clothes, and (2) there is a match in CODIS whomever it may be. Just as a sidenote, the DA I spoke with said that the police work on my case was extremely shoddy at the least and that DNA testing should have happened way back in 1997 when CODIS was enacted!!

Just to start somewhere, I looked up Branson, MO registered sex offenders. The below link lists 32 registered sex offenders. There is a picture available for most. I saw a couple with blue eyes that resembled your composite sketch and matched up with age.

The one that stuck out to me was: Rudolf Huntington Donath

He looks very much like my assailant.....

so, do we further question this guy as far as possible being the attacker? At the very least...he looks similar?

I think it would be worthwhile if we could find out where he was on May 20, 1992 or atleast if he has ties to FL....

I saw that same Rudy guy on facebook too but he surely does look different now....I wasn't sure if I wanted to ask to be friends or not...what do you think? Maybe the only reason (besides Godly intervention) he let me go that day was b/c he was relatively immature in his criminal pursuits???

  • #59
Good lord! He looks so different! I think the end of his nose is completely different. It looks somewhat bulbous in the facebook as compared to the mugshot.

  • #60
Well, the only previous addresses for Rudy are in CT, MO, and Arizona. He still could have ties to Florida or have been on vacation. I think it's very likely that your abductor could have been on vacation, being that Florida is a vacation spot and his plates were from MO. Cox was on vacation with his parents when he allegedly abducted and killed a woman.
