This is horrifying! Where were the parents? This didn't happen all in one day. Was she a foster parent or something???

Good question. How does something like this take place without anyone having noticed? These cases are horrifying.

In the arrest photo does she have a stethoscope around her neck?

Apparently the baby also tested positive for cannabis.

Terrible. She was obviously using it to quiet the infant or induce sleep.

Yup, and is wearing scrubs. Makes me worried about what other vulnerable people she's had access to.

True. I hope they investigate further. These cases are frightening in their implications.

I am wondering, was this the first time this person babysat for the family? How did they find her? This is so terrible.

Probably not because the investigation showed there were bruises indicating various lengths of time since injury, unless the poor infant was abused by someone in addition to and prior to the defendant. :(

Just adding:
The fact that a human being would go through life blinded and with spinal damage because some rotten caregiver abused them in their earliest infancy is just staggering in its evil.

Yes, @SMK777, just pure evil.
Oh, that poor child. What came over that babysitter? Was she high on some substance that drove her to nearly kill that little one? Spinal damage and blindness and whatever else she did -- I just cannot understand. A perfect little person, and now what?
And apparently some injuries were older than the latest ones -- so how did that happen?
Just dammit. Makes me wanna holler.

I know; just heartbreaking and there can be no real justice served, because the child’s life has been ruined.

39-year-old Heather Hogan was arrested on charges of aggravated child abuse and child neglect. She failed to call 911 when the baby had a medical event on Jan 10. Officials say she made phone calls to three people indicating the baby was having back to back seizures, was unresponsive and vomiting. The child was with her from Jan 1-15.

The father has sole custody and is often out of town for work. Hogan was the caretaker he picked.

Thank you.
She’s where she should be, but you have to wish it could have happened earlier.
Agreed. How in the devil was she a choice for the father? How does a parent get to pick a medical foster placement? I find that odd to say the least.

I am sure he never anticipated that she would be a danger, especially with her scrubs and her stethoscope.

I thought from reading it that he had sole custody, she was the baby sitter, and only NOW has the baby been put in medical foster care.
The question is, why, instead of just regular hospital?

@PayrollNerd
I’m wondering, concerning the above, if it’s for the purpose of completing the investigation?

I just can’t see how they would blame a working, traveling father for picking her. He’d have no way of knowing at that point in time.
