WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The body of a dead infant was found Tuesday amid rubble at a recycling plant shortly before the pile of concrete and rock was to be pulverized, authorities said.

A worker at the Palm Beach County facility found the infant girl early Tuesday morning while he was inspecting and sorting the material, said Paul Miller, spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Investigators were trying Wednesday to find the mother of a dead infant found naked amid rubble at a recycling plant.
An autopsy completed Wednesday revealed the child, whose umbilical cord was still attached when it was found Tuesday, weighed 6 pounds. The full-term baby also had several fractured bones but authorities cannot determine whether the injuries were caused before or after she was placed amid the rubble.
