If she didn't know it was wrong, why did she lie when she bought the gun?

Good point. I'm really on the fence here, so discussing the facts helps a lot.

She lied about the reason for buying the gun. So we can assume she lied because she didn't want to tell them she was planning on killing her children, because they then wouldn't sell her the gun if they knew that.

The doctor claims she lied because she felt that the gun shop guy wouldn't understand her reasons..but that again shows she is having conscious thought about what others would think/say/do.

So this does prove that she knew it was wrong on some level. I think if she were really psychotic, she wouldn't have rational thoughts at all.
The doctors have said that psychosis comes and goes, so if that's the case, wasn't she still planning the murder of her children if one of those off moments was when she was purchasing the gun?
The gun shop guy said she appeared normal and not delusional. If she were delusional, would he be able to tell?

JS wrote in her journal on Monday that everything she written recently was incomprehensible, and she was out of her oxycodone pills.

She indicated she was doing things that had an adverse impact on her mental health.

Shaking of head and extremities during "perp walk" after arrest were caused by Lithium toxicity and psychic and mental shock of what had happened. Not tardive dyskenesia or mental illness.

JS didn't like that Lithium flattened her highs. She liked to be energized, happy, and interested. There were times she didn't take her Lithium because she felt that the Lithium "brought her down." She wanted to be energized or creative or engaged, so she didn't take her Lithium so she'd get that positive edge.

Since the Windmoor release, there's no way to tell how compliant she was with her Lithium treatment. Admitted to ER after arrest due to Lithium toxicity (Lithium level of 1.9). Murders were not caused by Lithium toxicity.

Very common complaint with MI patients. That's why so many go off meds because the meds make them feel lethargic like jello whereas the mania feels so much better.

JS suspicion that her hsb wanted to divorce her was NOT a paranoid delusion. Her concern that her daughter Calyx might develop bipolar was not a psychotic delusion.

She had ideas of sexual promiscuity.

Between 2007 and 2011 when she purchased the handgun, no psychiatrist diagnosed her with a psychotic episode that they observed and treated. Very reliant on self report.

JS told Dr. M she'd under-reported her symptoms. She wanted to avoid having her medications reviewed -- in the belief that her best interest was to withhold information in order to self-manage her medications.

Is this a form of manipulation of her medical care? Dr. M said this is a pattern of behavior that is associated with practically all patients in all illnesses. It is a part of the usual interaction between doctors and patients.

Dr. M did not conduct any psychological testing of JS because
1) none of the tests would have measured whether she was insane at the time of the crime
2) the tests are only really 70% accurate anyway

Pros trying to show #JulieSchenecker manipulated her medical condition. She played her psych docs to hide her true intent to kill kids

Does anyone think this doctor feels like he is being feed to the sharks?

The idea of killing her kids occurred before the gun purchase.

Her consumption of oxycodone was contrary to prescribed intent. She said she took it to alleviate "brain pain." Probably contributed to her depressed state of mind.
